"Host gives 110% in a melodramatic scene while cast members react realistically" is my favorite genre of SNL sketch
I can’t lie this one had me in tears when Austin was at the window mad at himself 😂😂😂
Me too
Best skit of the night! Genuine lols
Laughing so hard, dropped the phone.
Not meant to be sad. You must have a borderline personality disorder to break down that easily.
I had to pause the video I was laughing so hard I couldn't see through my tears.
Man Chloe and Austin really nailed the mid-atlantic accent. They sound straight out of the 50's
True!!
It’s called “transatlantic”
Well Austin did just play someone from the 50s
@@calisongbird both are correct.
Did not realize that was Chloe! Yes she did a great job!
I love that they chose Andrew, one of their youngest-looking male cast members, to play the father 😂
Andrew?
@@stephanierudi708 your right. Fixed it should have just gone with his last names. Desmukes, right?
His name is Andrew
@@stephanierudi708 okay googled the last name. Dismukes is close to what I recalled
@@stephanierudi708 Anthony, lol. Close enough I guess to Andrew
I didn't realize Austin was so talented. This whole episode was off the rails in the best way.
Yeeess he is!! Omg!! A breath of fresh air!!
It was off the rails, but it was also kind of sad since this is Cecily Strong's last episode as a cast member.
He’s always been great. He was also great in Ruby and the Rockits and the Shayarra Chronicles.
@@melanieb4836 OMG the Shayarra Chronicles, what a throwback. I watched the first few episodes of that show, it was terrible.
Totally agree! I was laughing so hard the whole time. 😂 Makes me so glad Baz chose him to play Elvis despite the fact that he was one of the the lesser known actors auditioning for the part. He’s extremely talented and surprisingly funny. Hopefully we will see more and more of him in years to come.
There is a man staring at us....this is the monologue running through my head every time I see a movie scene like this!
Exactly! Finally someone addressed elephant in the window.
This was the funniest skit from the show.
It's from It's A Wonderful Life. The 1986 Shatner show had a good parody too.
I am the same way when actors/characters are looking at the camera in the poster for the movie. Especially when they are pointing the gun at me!
Now this is a Christmas classic.
Yes!!! A total Christmas classic!!
As classic as Christmas
Yes I agree. One of the best in a min
Certifiable all right
props to the snl film crew this was beautiful
Was thinking the same.
Really gorgeous 🖤🤍
Impressive on the audio, as well. It sounded like it had that 1950s movie quality.
@@assmane999 They've done these for like 40 years, black and white style 40's/50's movie parodies. They almost always look good.
@@danielstack4158 the visuals, yeah, but the audio seemed to be replicated here in a way I don’t think I’ve seen before
@@assmane999 Or heard; it was spot on👌
I'm very impressed with the cinematography and production value of this sketch, not to mention the acting. Top notch!
They really nailed the aesthetic, the audio, the lighting, it's so convincing!
Defiantly, the mic filter was on point too
I absolutely agree. The whole sketch was amazing
Favorite skit Austin did tonight, I loved how he angrily pointed at his reflection but the family is like: 👁️👄👁️
The speaking through their teeth had me dying 😂
This is GORGEOUSLY shot and Austin Butler gives a genuinely excellent performance here
Austin has just proven he has what it takes to host SNL.
Not just hosting, this guy is so versatile!
He reminds me of John Carradine.
Don’t usually watch SNL, but this was well done!! Austin can act!
Butler is versatile- channeling Jimmy Stewart. Mikey makes a good yet creepy angel.
I think that Mikey comes across the same in many skits no matter what the roll, but he's good here. Very good.
Calm down fella he's not doing Jimmy Stewart.
Is he a angel or a demon?
@@xer0 Austin is doing Jimmy Stewart from It's A Wonderful Life. That's what this Skit is doing a Parody of that Movie.
He did a great job of imitating it without copying it
he looks too good in this like i’m not kidding
Hahaha ikr 😍😂
Morgan, not only that but, I was just saying " Damn, he looks fantastic in black and white. " I don't think I've ever said that before about anyone.
@@billgreen1861 He's gorgeous, period! To be honest in Elvis the only thing he didn't get is that his eyes has more purity than Elvis which cannot be altered by no matter how good the acting is.
@@jackiechou1916 Your opinion.
@@jackiechou1916 Purity as in he lacked the sexual charisma? If that is the case, I must disagree. In the words of Honest Trailers, “he given the best Do Me eyes in a film since Nala gave Simba the green light”
I'm not the only one that saw black-and-white film vibe in austin butler. Chloe suits the style nicely too
Surprised this doesn't have a million views yet. One of the funniest sketches in a while. Austin is crazy good in this.
They all were!
Austin looking at himself in the reflection and berating himself was so funny, I love him
"How can I relax when there is a pervert lurking in our window?" Cut to Austin 🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂😂😂😂🤣
This is HILARIOUS!! That's the way my mom talks when she gets pissed, with clenched teeth!! 😂😂
My favorite part is the mom 😂
Instant classic.
I'm so glad Mikey's still on the show. He can do anything.
I never thought about how the people on the other side of the window would react in these scenes... Hilarious!!!
I could swear The Simpsons did something similar to this on the season one episode where Homer is upset that Marge and the kids embarrassed him at the nuclear plant picnic and there's one scene where they look in the window of a functional family's house, but the wife and husband think they're prowlers, so the husband goes after them.
And whats so funny is, they look perfect on the outside but theyre just a messy family too 🤣
Most movies and shows are not completely original plots - but they are a fresh update.
Mixing it with it's a wonderful life - very clever. Very well done.
Austin’s “YOU’RE FIRED” scene in Elvis gives me the chills. Fans of the movie know what I’m talking about. The acting is incredible. He has the same energy here when he yells into the window and it busts me up!
YES THAT SCENE WAS SO GOODDD
When they cut to Austin kneeling in front of Mikey... That's where I started tearing up. 🤣
That's where my parents lost it, too, especially when they rewound to confirm that Austin was bobbing his head in that shot. 🤣
Haha 😂 omg It killed me at the ending lol
I DIED!!! 🤣😂
SNL at its very best!
Austin is gold😂 I lost it at him getting mad at himself 😂” you ruined my life”
I mean in those movies where the man stares at the window of a strangers house while contemplating how his life could have been while the family doesn’t even acknowledge him is a cliche but having the family react to his presence makes it funny
BY FAR the best skit of the night!!! 🤣 as soon as they shifted to the family trying to play it cool I lost it!
Man, you can really tell that Austin Butler grew up watching classic movies, he really evoked the spirit of Jimmy Stewart and nailed the voice. He really can do it all.
Austin is such a good actor
I am in tears watching this!! LOL when he's mad at himself 😂😂
Such a genuine talent. Austin could have been a classic movie actor too!!!
Proof that Austin is talented, charming and really funny, i love this segment...instant classic 😂🙌🏻❤️
Austin is killing it as host whoever wrote Tonight monologue is doing a good job🤣.
No matter what he does. Austin is always a true love. From his voice, to his gorgeous face and to his soul. He touches us all. Young and Old, Austin you have made us very proud to be american and have the future to look forward to with you and your voice. God bless you and yours. More to come. Love Love Love. XXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOO
One of the funniest skits I've ever seen from SNL, and I've been watching since 1975.
SAME SAME!
The writers really layed the hammer 🔨 down w this 1. The duality of family & love w the subtext hitchcockian ending. 👏🏽👏🏽
Austin Butler did an AMAZING job on SNL!!! He was hilarious. ❤️😎😂
This would be a Christmas movie I’d actually watch 😂😂😂😂
That and the version of "It's a Wonderful Life" where Mr. Potter gets beaten by George and his family and friends (it's one of SNL's most iconic sketches from the Dana Carvey/Phil Hartman era. It was on the episode hosted by William Shatner).
Austin and Chloe's old timey accents are so perfect
There's that skit every once in a while with snl that makes an impression on me. With this new cast, this will become a classic in my eyes :)
Damn Austin gave an amazing performance in what was just a sketch.. an freakin amazing one!! Nice job SNL!
I like that Mikey's little wave is just flat-out creepy-funny, but you could also see it as a deranged angel "finding" a new assignment
OMG this was the best sketch I’ve seen in awhile lol. And Chloe had like 5 seconds of dialogue but slayed it anyway 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Love, love this great actor Austin you are really awesome!
Austin is killing it everywhere lol
I kinda expected Mikey to wink at Heidi at the very last frame suggesting that he was the one she cheated on her husband with last summer 😉 Great sketch! Austin is pure talent.
Truly a Christmas classic
Laughed out loud NUMEROUS times...this was BRILLIANT 😂😂😂😂😂
“I want you to protect this family” was the best part of the skit!! Heidi has been my favorite since Her trip to Norleans with Martin Short
WOW. I did not realize Austin Butler was such an amazing actor
This is definitely one of the best skits I've seen from SNL, bar none. I've re-watched this a few times and have laughed each time.
The greatness that is Austin Butler. Can’t wait to see more work from this talented man. This was funny
Haha Austin can really adapt to any role he is so talented and is crushing it on SNL! 🤣 Keep it up Aus I'm lovin' it! ❤️
Versatile actor indeed!
Not only is this BEAUTIFUL, it is so funny. The crispy audio is perfect!!!
Everything about this sketch was fantastic! The design especially!
This was my fav skit when Austin hosted SNL recently.
omg Chloe's acting was spot on!! really felt like 50's!👏🏼🤩
I love all the aggressive knife cutting at the table lol
This skit is so well done! What's even more impressive is that Austin appears not to be reading from cue cards. Sometimes it's pretty obvious when the cast and/or guest host is reading from the cards and that's okay. It's not surprising that Austin would memorize his lines - he has said in several interviews that he memorized the entire 4hr play he did with Denzel Washington b/c at the first table read, he wanted to not look at the script. Impressive indeed!!
This had to be the BEST SNL I’ve seen yet! Austin, is a great actor…and that what a VOICE!! He is definitely an extrodinary actor! 🔥👏💯
austin is just amazing (: i know his mom is very proud
Such a sweetie. Love that Austin. Just a cutie❤
Lmao. The dad going "OHHH F*CK" and tossing his kid aside to run away got me
An SNL Christmas classic is born.
Austin is hilarious, he could play any role!!
This deserves an oscar
This skit became already a classic!! ❤
This is the one right here 👏 shocked this isn't trending, it still has time to though. AUSTIN WAS Amazing TONIGHT ON SNL!!!!!! God I love this man. ❤️💚
SNL Christmas sketches are always a cut above with their mix of nostalgia and humor. Bravo!
Amazing how Austin butler did a fantastic job
This is the Christmas story I need 😂 a new classic. He wanted to have a perfect family, the family was fighting during Christmas dinner 🤣
As many really do!
😅
One of the laugh out loud funniest skits 😂
I admire, respect & love Austin Butler. He could be on SNL every Saturday and I would watch him every single time.
Austin really surprised me. The episode was great. His performance was amazing. And this sketch. This is the 10th time that I'm watching
This is the best snl sketch they've made in years
He pulls that “old black n white movie voice” perfectly if that makes any sense 😂
Came back to this sketch after bawling my eyes at Blue Christmas to feel better. Thanks Austin, Heidi, Mikey and Andrew. ❤
Austin nailed his hosting of SNL ! He was so on with every skit & sure enjoyed Blue Christmas ! Good for you Austin ! 🎉
Legendary skit! The SNL team put a lot of work into this one, it’s perfect
I think that’s the best SNL skit I’ve ever watched, and I don’t even usually watch SNL because it’s always so political. This skit was just perfect ❤️ I love the 40’s-50’s era, and any show or movie set in that age.
I avoid all the political sketches. SNL was much funnier when they made fun of everyone equally and didn't have a political agenda.
@@SundayMourningLove Since you don't watch their more political sketches, it's quite dumb of you to make such a false claim. Because SNL still does make fun of everyone equally. But instead you decided to assume. Real smart
Know what side of tracks you’re on
Austin is truly so so so talented!!!
This was hilarious. Austin is incredible, I’m so glad his career is taking off
my favorite part is austin breathing on the window and then yelling at his own reflection. fuckin love that guy.
This really is a Christmas classic. Emotional and Hilarious!
I haven’t laughed in a while thank you Austin butler !😂
Same! Funniest SNL skit in a long time. Loved the whole episode!!
He brings joy to our life
S
This is actually a PERFECT parody. Well done Austin and the SNL players!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Instant SNL Christmas classic! Loved this one! Austin was a great host!
If Austin Butler doesn't get a Oscar for this performance I'm rioting😆😆
Timeless SNL sketch right here. Bravo!
Omg that Austin is so talented and such eye candy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great writing this season! I haven’t laughed that hard in ages!
This was a brilliant premise. Kudos to the writers!!!😂
I literally haven't watched SNL in at least 20 years and only watched for Austin tonight, when did SNL sketches start looking this good lol? This had amazing photography and, gasp, atmosphere lol.
I only watched for Austin also. Haven't watched in years.
Gotta feelin' will be seeing this in future 'Best of SNL Christmas' skits shows.
He's trying to freak us out Janine, that's what gets him off!
Chloe looks like a classic movie star in this one!
Austin is so good!!! Hope to see him in more stuff! He sold this skit
SNL deserves a new name after these top notch masterclass video clips of delightfulness!
They really let Butler chew the scenery, perfection
