      It’s the first electronic instrument that I bought. I find the novation circuit tracks easier to use or the workflow. I’m just about to have another go at the sample. I remember making some interesting noises when I first got it. I find the sequencer hard to program in time. The tracks is much easier. But I’m coming from a background of kit and hand percussion. It’s certainly a fun little machine.

    A Volca sample emulation was just released for iOS called Vesuvius. Every process is identical to hardware, though it has an extra screen for sample management and supports transferring samples and patterns directly to hardware Volca via headphone output. Not bad for $2.99 - even the sound engine seems to be emulated; has that crunchy slightly lo-fi sound.

      @peterjones4732 3 года назад +1

      But the tinniness of the beats has a certain lo fi charm ... but what RMR does with the sample .... genius 🙏🏻

    • @nebula0697
      @nebula0697 3 года назад +1

      Exactly, I loved the sequencer and large comfy size of my Drumbrute but it was long ago replaced by the volca sample. You can spend a lot of time thinking about analog or digital synth drum design but really the tweaking of a sample just lends itself so much more to creating a fat beat fast, and you can do some subtle stuff e.g. using reverb or automating a filter sweep on a single voice. For drums this is endlessly powerful. If you wanted a capable & fast drum synth that's analog and immediately fat and groovy you'd have to go with the Tanzbar or Vermona and sequence it with Drumbrute. That's two machines and a huge price tag when any sampler at all, anything on the used market, would also allow you to sample synth or live drum hits and create either a synth-typical sound live-typical or sample-typical beat. Samplers are the best drum machine for me.

    Volca Sample is one of my go-boxes for great sound. I don't use the built in sequencer as, although fun, is too limited. Sending cc changes to the parameters is amazing. For me the main downside is that you cannot select samples via program change. A Volca Sample Pro could be a game changer as the sound engine in this is killer.

    • @leftmono1016
      @leftmono1016 6 лет назад

      NineHellHeaven - I've got a Volca sample on the way, I was planning to send CC changes without using the internal sequencer as you do. Works well with the Beats.
      I'm surprised Korg haven't released 'pro' versions of all the Volcas. Beats with separate outs and pattern chaining (and a fixed snare), Keys with CV ins and more waveforms etc....
