Thanks Rasa,❤ I seriously fractured my neck (!) last November after slipping on mud - after being in a metal halo for four months then a hard brace, and learning to walk all over again...today for the first time my Fitbit pinged to let me know I walked 10,000 steps!!! 🎉 I'm not allowed to dance for at least another 6 months, and when I do, will have to rethink Bachata neck rolls maybe forever, but I am on my way!! Also, psychologically know I'm on my way because tonight is the first time I felt like watching a dance video - it was too hard for a long time!! So thank you xx for making this video!
Congratulations! One step at a time, and you will get to where you need to 💓. I'm here with you. And Kizomba maybe could be a dance you could start, that's what I'm trying to learn, less neck rolls, beautiful music 😇
Thanks Rasa, when i had a ligament injury in April i went to a social, lucky for me two people came to my help with a make shift ice pack on my knee. so lucky
I’ve had some injuries, but as soon as I hear the music, the endorphins make me forget them. That said, I’m aware of which movements I can’t do, but I take care of myself and dance!
Hi Rasa! I really like the section on thinking positively as this can really help diminish the pain from an injury. I've got an injury from running during Covid that flairs up. If I think negatively about it the pain becomes more noticeable. Most physios I've seen try to tell me that there's nothing much they can do unless I go privately and then they're happy to keep seeing me! Over time it has improved but I've had to battle with GP's and physios to get the help I need to improve the injury. This doesn't help me keep positive so I become more determined and make sure I I think positively. I think it's really useful to limit dancing and exercise within your limitations and build up gradually as the injury improves. Health workers don't address the psychological side of physical injuries. Great video! 😊x
@@crescentsi oh I agree with you so much , and I had a very similar experience with doctors, so hard to find the right ones that can really help you in a good way 💓
@@DanceWithRasa I saw another NHS physio yesterday and he refused to give me exercises, couldn't diagnose anything and said I should come back in 3 months if it hasn't improved. They might give me a steroid injection which might help. They won't let me have a scan. I should say that I did receive exercises in the past but wanted to progress things further. Essentially the diagnosis and treatments are defined by costs and limited resources. So my next step will be to return to a private physio so I can get some sports massage and heat treatment which is far preferable to a steroid injection. They will also give me exercises! I was deflated after the appointment, as usual with the NHS. Once again, my energies will go into continuing with the exercises, thinking positively and seeing a physio privately. The NHS physiotherapy service is so poor these days, it's quite shocking! x
Looking quite hot today. Good explanations. Another option is to forget about dancing and rest. If you dance for years and years then a break of months or years can actually be very refreshing.
I JUST came back from seeing physiotherapist who said I have torn knee meniscus and we're yet to establish the extent of the damage and whether I'm going to need a surgery. Either way the next coming months will be a serious struggle 🥲
