What a portentous project! Hidenori Maezawa's next OST was the fantastic Goonies 2 soundtrack, and Kinuyo Yamashita was just a couple months out from scoring a little-known indie game called "Castlevania." This OST has very clear shades of both. Listen to that minor pentatonic walkdown in the Boss Battle, it sounds very similar to the B-section of Stalker (Castlevania Level 2), and ditto for the bassline in Stage 2 vs. the A-section of Stalker. Stage 4 is very similar to Castlevania's Black Night (Dracula Battle) in both structure and soundfont.
What's a good way to start a week of 8BS? With some great Konami tunes, with Hi no Tori: Gaou no Bouken Phoenix! Giving some more Famicom love for 8BitStereo! ;)
That stage 3 theme had to be inspo for “Get Lucky.” Especially considering this is a game based on a Tezuka story and Daft Punk’s history there it’s super unlikely they had never heard this

i was 4 y/o when i play this game and its one of the first games i played. i was so scared to fight bosses. oooh so much memories...
