Listening to the absolutely fantastic Guardian Legend soundtrack in the new 8BS Revamp with improved quality, text, tracklist and a visual background: ruclips.net/video/NhYzHcn1-OE/видео.html
Hell yes. Mario got literally hundreds of sequels and spinoffs, and this game was just... forgotten. I've seen the fan made remakes and I've been quite disappointed. I want a PS4 remake with some graphics. Something along the lines of Darkvoid but with a classic top down view would be amazing.
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!! I thought that I was only one of the people who knew this game even existed! Thanks so much for this soundtrack! Now I don't have to play it to hear my fav tunes!...... Still will, but now can have it runnin in background while doin stuff!
AND.. you know what the ironic thing is about this game is.. the music and the gameplay doesn't get stale at all. and I should know!!.. I mean.. how many times have I played this for how many emulators for my time? even I can't count> but anyways.. this game is so cool I can't put it in any form of vocabulary that is decent..
My little brothers used to play this game all the time. I never quite took to this game (I already had my SNES at that point), but all these tunes are etched into my mind, now with a loving familiarity. I will have to get this game onto my NES Mini and finally see what all the rage is about.
18:13 If someone is reading this... I must have failed. This star "NAJU" was our home, but we were invaded by evil life-forms. Everyone except me was killed. I am going to try to activate the self-destruct device. If I fail, I would like you to do this task so this cannot happen to any other race. The self-destruct mechanism is protected by a safety device which is located in the underground corridors. Remove each seal and go deep inside NAJU. If you destroy all 10 safety devices, the self-destruct sequence will be activated. I don't have much time. I hope this message will not be read by anyone... it will mean that I have failed.
Wierd what memories can do. Prompted by reading and remembering the first text.... it brought a tear to my eye. I think because the music was so overwhelming in atmosphere.
I was either too impatient or too stupid as a kid to understand what this simple message was saying. I finished the entire game without understanding (or caring) why she was doing what she was doing.
God I love this music. T.G.L. was the first game I saved up and bought for myself at 10. I loved this game from start to finish. I knew NOTHING about it when I bought it other than "Transformer" LOL. Other people loved Samus, but THIS was my girl, lol. One of the greatest nintendo games ever and that opening music especially gets me hype.
Seriously one of the best NES soundtracks - easily one of the most complex ones as well. It doesn't hurt that this is not only one of the most fun NES games ever, but one of the very few where one can get more than 1/2 or so without needing cheats. This was truly ahead of its time by being easier than utterly brutal.
And the REAL beauty of it is the TGL mode that gets harder and harder each time you go through it, so if you're a super hardcore gamer, you can get that precious, precious adrenaline.
Beat the game for the first time just now having owned it since i was a kid but never putting the effort in. Got inspired after looking up this ost just out of the blue. Definitely a gem in the NES library, clean design with minimal bs.
One of my favorite games as a kid! Thanks so much. Infect it has inspired one of my original guitar compositions. The Guardian Returns. Thanks for sharing this.
When you wanna jam out to your favorite opening chip tune ever and put this on, but instead end up going on a journey of contemplating life, love, and existence while the vibrant harmonies and rhythmic majesty prove there is beauty within the human spirit which reminds you that all is not lost and that everything happens for a reason so coincidence cannot exist which in turn means that you were meant to be here to read this comment and know that you are loved and have so much to offer and it becomes simple in your mind and heart that love is the only way to truly know yourself and discover your purpose in this mortal life because you are appreciative of your opportunity to make the best of the life you've been graced by God with. ❤ Will listen again. 10/10.
I was so surprised for the awesomeness of this game the first time I played it. The US cover is so strange than the first time I saw it I thought it was a bad game. Now than I see the cover in this video I can't understand why they changed it. The game combines arcade shooter style with adventure style in a good way. Watching the original art I would think it's an anime based game, but how to know. These are the best tracks are for me: 1-Area 0: Naju Gateway 2-Password/Escaping Naju 3-Corridors 1, 2, 11 & 12 4-Areas 1, 2, 5 & 7 5-Corridors 5, 8, 17 & 18 Another excellent contribution for 8BitStereo!!
One thing I wish this game would have done more with is the person that was there before you that unsuccessfully attempted to activate the self destruct. Who were they? Were they another Guardian? Were they a native to the planet? You never learn much about them, yet their recordings were the only clues you had about how to succeed on your mission. Your efforts were not in vain stranger, I picked up where you left off, and thanks to your clues, victory was achieved; the partner I never met.
Loved this game. Hrs advantage and the slow mo pause helped me beat many a boss in this game. Only bad thing was the massive password that if you messed up you could lose hours of play. That last boss took forever to kill.
Dude, thanks for posting all of this. And THANK YOU for the download link. Fuckin' awesome. (Typed this while listening to Snake's Revenge, Jungle Infiltration theme FUCK YEAH). (grin)
I love this game, and often come back to listen to this video. I learned the protagonist name is Mirina, she deserves to be remembered in a remaster. The story, the beautiful music all deserve to be recognized.
This game was just.....two words. Bad ASS! Excellent music and combined games such as Gradius and Zelda into one with a ton of weapons and a challenging assortment of enemies as well as difficult bosses. The ending theme is a just awesome. One game that I never got rid of and beat way too many times while never getting bored of it. Totally needs a remake of a second part added on todays systems.
Absolutely amazing soundtrack, both awesome and atmospheric, really helps convey the unique setting (which I wouldn’t mind seeing some kind of adaptation of). I admire your choice of the EU box art as well, it’s my favourite.
Damn, have to make a comment considering it's been like 6 years since the last one? And on a game that was not only great, but had a sensational soundtrack. Boss theme is my favorite, it's so good!
I don't care if this title never caught on, this game more than deserves a remaster. I would love to see a sequel. What if another alien planet threatens earth? The Guardian Legend Returns, someone make it happen!
The remaster is called Nier Automata or whatever that is. Basically a clone of this game with new graphics and innovations. But Guardian Legend was wayyyy ahead of its time. And the soundtrack is so memorable that it drags nostalgia tears out almost every time.
@@Bmetalful would you mind offering a bit more info as to why you think Nier is a clone? I own it and only played for a couple of hours. I would love to give it a second shot if you could explain how the two games are related.
Ok, first of all, I love this game. Second of all, i love the BGM for Corridor 5, 6, 15, and 16. And listening to it in stereo... I have no words to describe my feelings. All I can do is confirm that The Guardian Legend is an epic game, with an absolutely epic soundtrack to go with it. For anyone of you who haven't played it yet, you really should try it. It is awesome. One of the greatest NES games that I know of. :)
This is the best game i ever played on nintendo back in '92...i ll see if i find the console on amazon and this game... I ll pay even 100£... Cheers for 90's gamers there!
Probably one of the best, if not THE best, NES soundtrack ever. It's also an awesome game. My bf in HS bought me my copy because he was sick of me constantly stealing his--I still have it, too.
great game. for those that dont know or are new to playing this game, type TGL in the save game code. fun way to play through once you've beat the game.
I was like, ok now I need to download from youtube, then cut the songs, rename... but you already added the link to the .rar with all songs. you sir have my higher praise :D and my son also is grateful, he loves so much TGL and the soundtrack! thanks buddy!
I was playing this game before I knew english language at all, so that was like the age of 4-7 or so, you can imagine I had no clue what the game was about but I remember it quite well anyways. I remember also figuring out a random "cheat code" by accident which seemed very unlikely but it stuck with me through all these 20+ years.

there was one very similar but better. i could never find it. after so much searching. almost as if it never existed :( but yea, this one THE MASTERPIECE
Love the game and it is very underrated and a hidden gem, one thing you must know that there is one boss in the of the forest zones that is literally in all senses Over Powered, trust, you'll know why after you get a single hit from one of those long seaweed like stems that it spits out in a single line.
sound track is one of the top 20 on the nes . Here is a little unkown fact about this game this was release for the arcade with no slow down as far as I could tell. Reminds me of my childhood where the only thing on my mind after I got home from school was to play kick ass games like The Guardian Legend/ Guardic Gaiden!
One of my all time favorite NES games! Way ahead of it's time with how massive the world was. Damn those 60 character passwords though lol. 17min to 18 min are great boss fight songs
I've seen so many top 10 and 20 lists and so on without this game and thought, how can an amazing game like this keep being ignored by so many? Same here. This is my favorite tune, probably across all NES games. I find it hard to convey how it makes me feel. The fact the password screen is a different color based on whether you're getting a password (afternoon) or entering one (morning) is a nice touch too. But hearing it when going back into space is another feeling entirely.

Most criminally underrecognized NES game.
+stripedhyenuh REAL TALK!!!!
Agreed ❤
Let's keep it that way, and it wouldn't get as expensive that would fall into the unbuyable category. :p

Haha! MJR already covered it in hidden gems episode 9 thousand 😂

This soundtrack is pure happiness and nostalgia. Thank you for making my horrible day much better.

Хех)) я проходил эту игру в 91 году на денди)
Amazing game. Loved how it portrayed a lost, somewhat dead world except for the creatures within such as the metroid series.
This game has one of the most hauntingly beautiful ending themes ever.
fell in Love with Redheads,....and the rest is what you call History

I agree with every comment in this thread.
Hylian Fox, hello! I agree with you! I would add most of the soundtrack has haunted my mind for 3 decades! Hope you are doing well!

Wow lots of childhood memories, I loved this game. It really was underrecognized.
este juego es una joya preciosa de nes y muy pocos lo conocen , sin mencionar que tenés a mi gusto un excelente soundtrack
This truly was an amazing game.
First memory was when I was 3 or 4 years old and seeing my brother play this game. Absolute gem!
This and Crystalis were the two best NES games I ever played.
I have beaten The Guardian Legend 4 time's . And then I have beaten Crystalis only once .
Same. GL and Crystalis were my childhood.
SAME... loved both of those!
I would add destiny of an emperor to your list by capcom. They were my 3 best games on nes.

I can honestly say this my favorite game of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there was one very similar but better. i could never find it. after so much searching. almost as if it never existed :( but yea, this one THE MASTERPIECE

one of the forest zones* -_- damn typos
I hated the Blue Optomon too. I think I celebrated when I first beat it, close to 30 years ago.
Corridor 3 boss. Yep.
