That's really George Clooney. He was one of the Hollywood people who shared the VHS tape that started it all, and then agreed to play the gay dog "Sparky" in S1 E4 in which he does nothing but make dog noises. Then Parker and Stone took a shit on him a few years later by using a recording of his actual Oscar acceptance speech which contributes to an entire cloud of poisonous "smug." Clooney took it all in stride. Kudos all around -- including you for making this reaction work!
I had quotes from this movie as .wav files to replace all the sounds on my computer back in the day. (and quotes from Spaceballs) Having my computer boot-up with the Bill Gates quote always made my day!
this movie is so great,, the more often i see it the more i like it!!!! and how on earth did they make all the songs so damn catchy amazing job with this movie
In 1999 I was managing a used car lot and auto body shop, when this movie came out i closed the entire place and took all of us to see it. It was costly but worth it for the people i worked with.
This movie parallels the sentiment of parents about South Park at the time and as a kid near the age of the kids, this movie hits so hard. We learned so many new phrases from this movie and was probably the first time I heard the word spelunker too... :) We learned the songs by heart and I still sing them to myself sometimes. Matt Stone really has a way with catchy obscene songs.
Well, you can't see 'South Park' on stage..yet. However, you can see 'The Book of Mormon' which was written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez. It is one of the longest-running musicals on Broadway, and is on tour everywhere. The score for the show is filled with amazing songs that are hummable and hysterical. It won a ton of Tonys and other theatrical awards when it opened. It also launched the career of Josh Gad (the voice of Olaf in the 'Frozen' franchise). Lopez is an EGOT, having won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony...he wrote the music for the stage musical 'Avenue Q' (which is like Sesame Street on a bender), and the Disney films 'Frozen' 1 & 2, and 'Coco'.
Holy shit dude haha 😂 you deserve mad props for your editing prowess, no f-bombs, but still managed to keep the context for all the funniest parts. I remember a roommate and I had a VHS copy of this movie over twenty years ago that we probably wore out for how often we watched it, those songs are forever embedded in my mind. I’m glad you seemed to get such a kick out of it. Baseketball is one I’d love to see you react to, not only written by the guys who created South Park, but starring them as well lol just as hilarious and awesome as you’d expect it to be. ✌🏼😘🇨🇦
I saw this film in the theater, and in the audience that rolled in was a woman with three little kids, maybe nine years old at the oldest and thought 'oh man, the kids are gunna get scarred for life' because I was fairly certain that they just were into the SP merchandise and not the actual content of the show... and when the film ended I saw them walk into the lobby from the theater and I couldn't believe that she stayed with the kids to the end; it was absolutely hilarious seeing the look of bewilderment on her face.
Only Trey and Matt can get me to love a musical and buy the OST. Edit - 6:42 Yes that's George Clooney... previously known as Sparky. Star Trek's Brent Spiner and the creator of Beavis and Butt-Head, Mike Judge, also lend their voice... oh, and Saddam Hussein!
I think this was before you got into Star Trek. But at the end Satan throws Saddam back into hell going "I ... HAVE... HAD.. ENOUGH.. OF...... YOU.." doing the same pauses and inflection that Kirk did on the Genesis planet before he kicked Commander Krug into the chasm in "Star Trek III".
“Is that the only time he’s talked?” At the time this movie came out I remember people taking about that. Everyone i was friends with were dying to see what he looked and sounded like. Of course he looks and sounds like all south park characters but it was still awesome. Since then he has talked a couple times. I only remember the epsiode with michael jackson where kenny disguises himself as mj son blanket tho. Then he got thrown through the roof and died lol best show ever
My favorite part of the TV series was after this movie, Saddam is back and Satan is surprised to see him. Saddam replies, "Well, where do you think I would go when I died? Detroit?" 🤣🤣🤣
Note: -Originally on the show, Terrence and Phillip was a poorly-animated show in-universe, but then it was later retconned that Canadians looked like Terrence and Phillip in "real life" -Eric Idle from Monty Python voiced the doctor that installed Cartman's V-chip, while Mike Judge voiced Kenny with his hood off -There's a post-credits scene of Ike still in the attic eating a mouse
Brian Boitano skated to that song once. It was awesome. Book of Mormon is effectively a South Park musical. Highly recommended,. You can also see an orchestral version of a lot of South Park music that was done for the 25th anniversary of the show.
Brilliant reaction Jen I knew you would love it. If RUclips have any issues with it just show the DVD cover at the beginning and have the rest of the clip with you just laughing 🤣. Oh and I have a question for you... What would Brian Boitano do?
Made it through with all of the mutes and blurs. Joke's on RUclips: I already knew the naughty parts. I'm just glad you got to do this one. It's an awesome musical.
The doctor was Clooney. He was an early supproter of the show. Minnie Driver voiced Brooke Shields and Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek) did Conan O'Brien. Kenny was also voiced by Mike Judge (Beavis and Butthead. Office Space, Idoicracy)
6:04 talking on that. Matt and Trey do have a broadway show called “Book of Mormon” Plus for the 25th Anniversary of South Park they literally done a full on concert in Colorado playing all their top South Park songs. And better you can watch it fully free on RUclips.
So a few fun things. 1 is that the MPAA had a problem with Trey and Matt wanting to name this film all hell breaks loose, so being who they are, they said f*ck you in the most creative way, by naming it Bigger Longer and uncut. The MPAA didn't have any issue with the new title until two weeks before release and then they got the joke but at that point it's two weeks from release they couldn't change the name. Because the MPAA was frequently breathing down their neck they ended up having to change the lyrics of a song that they were writing because the title of that song is one of George Carlin seven dirty words you can't say on television (motherf*cker). The result is the one that ended up in the film song by Terrance and Phillip which is arguably much better than the previous title of that song. At this point in the series there were two running gags one-month the constant killing of Kenny the other was every time Stan went to go talk to Wendy he would throw up on her. Blame Canada actually got nominated for an oscar but lost to Phil Collins because that was the year that the film Tarzan came out. In the years since this movie came out Matt and Trey are now Tony award-winning artists for their Musical The Book of Mormon. One of the Great Moments of this film is when Cartman goes Super Saiyan at Kyle's behest once he realizes what he can do with the v-chip
South Park started out with a Christmas Cartoon that was super popular in Hollywood, and Clooney was one of their biggest fans. So he was the voice of Stan's Dog where all he does is bark.
Well done with the mammoth edit job on this. You’re legit the first person I’ve come across who knew who Brian Boitano was without having to look it up lol.
I love that Matt Stone said in an interview that one of the greatest moments in his life was watching an entire symphony orchestra performing "Uncle F**ker"
Saw this movie twice in one day when it came out. First at work on the Paramount lot, then with a group of ten lesbians, my neighbor across the hall and her friends (I’m a straight white dude), when I got home and they were all drinking and then walking to the local theater to see it. It was just as hilarious the second time around. Hard to pick between this and Team America for best Matt and Trey film. George Clooney starred on the medical drama ‘ER’ for years, and was known for being over dramatic. That was his real voice.
Jen, Blame Canada! was actually one of the songs nominated for the Academy Awards. They got none other than Robin Williams to perform it live at the 2000 Oscar ceremonies. You can see it on YT. Great job on a very difficult edit for sure, m'kay?? 😄
15:32 "I kind of wish I could yell 'Map!' and one would appear." We're making pretty good strides that direction. We'll probably have technology like that, one day.
One of the best movie going experiences I had was seeing this one about a week after it came out. Many in the audience had apparently already seen it a number of times, as it became a sing-along, especially with Kyle's Mom...
*_Fun Fact:_* While you won't find 'It's Easy, M'kay' at a Broadway show, Robin Williams actually performed 'Blame Canada' at the Oscars around 20 years ago.
The Doctor was voiced by Clooney. In Season 1, the studio wanted them to have a celebrity guest, which the creators didn't want, so they got George Clooney to voice a (gay) dog whose only lines were growls and grunts. This is Clooney's "other" character in the franchise.
I saw this in the theater on opening night. There were parents escorting children out of the theater rapidly during the Uncle F---er song. It was absolutely hilarious!!! 😂😂😂
16:41 Believe it or not, Matt Stone and Trey Parker had backgrounds in musical theater before starting South Park. Their first film was Cannibal: The Musical which I highly recommend if you like their content. They also have a tony award winning Broadway musical called The Book of Mormon that I've heard is just hilarious.
It was George Clooney. He also voiced Sparky, Stan's gay dog in episode 4 of the series. Clooney was a very early supporter of South Park, sending the Spirit of Christmas video clip to his friends 2 years before South Park aired.
I saw this in the theater, and watching confused parents, hurriedly ushering their kids out of an R-rated movie, made it even more hilarious and punk rock.
Their Broadway show book of mormon won several tony awards also the south park 25th anniversary concert at red rocks is great, they perform many songs from the show and movies. Primus plays too and Geddy and Alex from Rush show up as well.
Now that you've seen this, you need to witness the comedic genius that is BASEketball (1998). It stars the creators of South Park as the leads. Fact: The creators had to deal with the MPA do deal with avoiding the movie getting an NC-17 film. If the film got 400 swear words, it would get the rating. The amount in this film? 399.
I love the comedy and social/political observations in South Park, but I love the brilliantly catchy yet bizarre original songs even more. One of my absolute favorites is "Let's Fighting Love" from the episode "Good Times With Weapons" which will make you want to rock out, and it perfectly imitates the rock songs that proliferated in 90's action anime right down to mangled Japanglish lyrics. You should check out the South park 25th Anniversary Live Concert on RUclips.
While this movie does seem almost silly fun and nowhere near as edgy as some of the stuff that's around nowadays can you imagine how controversial this movie was when it came out in theatres in 1999? Tons of places wanted to ban it, lots of people said it should never be showed as kids might watch it by mistake.. It's funny how times change..And is also pretty funny given this movies theme being about inappropriate movies that should not be seen by children so it's clear the writers knew exactly what they were doing

Well, you did it, Jen. You managed to get it on RUclips. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It definitely warped my fragile little mind as a child. 🤣
one of the greatest and most underrated musicals of all time
this movie is so great,, the more often i see it the more i like it!!!! and how on earth did they make all the songs so damn catchy amazing job with this movie
17:02 I never noticed Jesus in the marching line 😂
9:00 I never noticed that. Lmao.
"I mean, it's a very musical solo!"
Jen, shilling for Canada. We see what this is. ...
What makes me the most happy about this reaction is that you were happy. You make us all happy and it's so wonderful to see you be happy
All the characters whose heads are in two pieces are Canadian 🇨🇦 including his adopted little brother *IKE*
Don't forget James Hetfield of Metallica, Eric Idle of Monty Python, and Dave Foley who is of course Canadian.
and eric idle
Cheers, knew I was missing some. 👍
I haven't seen this in 20 years. I completely forgot it's a musical. 🤣
I'll never forget Robin Williams doing Blame Canada at the Oscars
“Is that the only time he’s talked?” At the time this movie came out I remember people taking about that. Everyone i was friends with were dying to see what he looked and sounded like. Of course he looks and sounds like all south park characters but it was still awesome. Since then he has talked a couple times. I only remember the epsiode with michael jackson where kenny disguises himself as mj son blanket tho. Then he got thrown through the roof and died lol best show ever
The best part of the blame canada song is the end "we must find them and cause a fuss before somebody thinks of blaming us"
16:31 This is like Les Mis, before the intermission xD
"Satan seems like a nice guy" that is too funny, had me lol'ing
My favorite part of the TV series was after this movie, Saddam is back and Satan is surprised to see him. Saddam replies, "Well, where do you think I would go when I died? Detroit?" 🤣🤣🤣
Eric Idle of Monty Python is the doctor that puts the chip in Cartman.
Note:
-Originally on the show, Terrence and Phillip was a poorly-animated show in-universe, but then it was later retconned that Canadians looked like Terrence and Phillip in "real life"
-Eric Idle from Monty Python voiced the doctor that installed Cartman's V-chip, while Mike Judge voiced Kenny with his hood off
-There's a post-credits scene of Ike still in the attic eating a mouse
Brian Boitano skated to that song once. It was awesome.
Book of Mormon is effectively a South Park musical. Highly recommended,. You can also see an orchestral version of a lot of South Park music that was done for the 25th anniversary of the show.
Brilliant reaction Jen I knew you would love it. If RUclips have any issues with it just show the DVD cover at the beginning and have the rest of the clip with you just laughing 🤣. Oh and I have a question for you... What would Brian Boitano do?
Remember when the internet was the least censored thing in the world?
Made it through with all of the mutes and blurs. Joke's on RUclips: I already knew the naughty parts. I'm just glad you got to do this one. It's an awesome musical.
Nothing more entertaining than seeing a Canadian reacting to Candian characters in South Park.
“Can I finish? Please! Can I finish?! Okay I’m finished.” 😂
Matt and Trey do have a broadway show called “Book of Mormon”
Plus for the 25th Anniversary of South Park they literally done a full on concert in Colorado playing all their top South Park songs.
Blame Canada was nominated for an oscar. Still blows my mind.
Well done with the mammoth edit job on this. You’re legit the first person I’ve come across who knew who Brian Boitano was without having to look it up lol.
"I'm so conflicted ABOOT who to root for!!" - Jen Murray
Yeah. we know exactly who you're rooting for 🥰
I love that Matt Stone said in an interview that one of the greatest moments in his life was watching an entire symphony orchestra performing "Uncle F**ker"
23:10 "I have had enough of you!" Nice Star Trek quote (from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock).
Jen, Blame Canada! was actually one of the songs nominated for the Academy Awards. They got none other than Robin Williams to perform it live at the 2000 Oscar ceremonies. You can see it on YT. Great job on a very difficult edit for sure, m'kay?? 😄
15:32 "I kind of wish I could yell 'Map!' and one would appear."
We're making pretty good strides that direction. We'll probably have technology like that, one day.
Honestly can't see why people don't love this 😂
Cause they lack a true sense of humour im guessing 🤣🤣
Fun Fact: Saddam Hussein saw the movie in captivity. He thought it was funny.
Lol im guessing you never heard of Matt and Treys Broadway show "the book of Mormon" 😂
One of the best movie going experiences I had was seeing this one about a week after it came out. Many in the audience had apparently already seen it a number of times, as it became a sing-along, especially with Kyle's Mom...
You brought back “ca-caw”! Awesome, love it!
😂👍 Thank you!
*_Fun Fact:_* While you won't find 'It's Easy, M'kay' at a Broadway show, Robin Williams actually performed 'Blame Canada' at the Oscars around 20 years ago.
I wish we still got comedy movies like this in the theater
At the time, this movie literally broke the record for swearing in a movie so kudos to you for having a crack at an edit haha
It was George Clooney. He also voiced Sparky, Stan's gay dog in episode 4 of the series. Clooney was a very early supporter of South Park, sending the Spirit of Christmas video clip to his friends 2 years before South Park aired.
Loved your reaction and appreciate all the work you and your editor had to do in order to post.
