The era of Toyota's renowned "reliability" is long gone.
Yep they have rolled over to the overpriced market and lowered quality
How did Toyota not have these issues resolved in year three of this model
I am assuming it has to do with building a brand new platform from the ground up while also cutting corners on quality. It really is disappointing and frustrating.
@@ZetaDogProductions R&D on a new truck should be done before going to market . Treating the buying public like a guineapig and a piggybank bank for R&D is very troubling for me at the cost of a new Truck. Realistically this truck design probably started 2 years before it came to market, so the design is going on about 5 years old since inception. IMHO more than enough time to work out the issues plaguing this truck model.
@@wayneanderson991 great comment, thanks!
What the hell was they thinking with those cheap goofy plastic bumpers!?...the last gen had beefy steel chrome bumpers 🤦♂️
I bought a 2024 Crewmax Limited hybrid. The power train is awesome! Unfortunately, I may get rid of it. The door is leaking air into the cab, and the road noise sounds like the window is cracked open. Toyota has acknowledged others have the same complaint, but no fix yet.
Yep, I have the same road noise issue. Apparently the hybrids have also been having transmission leaking issues. I hope yours stays trouble free!
I think Toyota subbed out these specific tundras and had GM make them lol
Thanks for the heads-up. ... Subscribed.
When I worked as a tech at a Toyota dealer, we would have tried some anti-rattle foam or felt on the window switch bezels. That was 15yrs ago, but I would imagine the practice would be the same. Toyota isn’t alone with quality control issues. Our 21 Subaru Ascent has all sorts of little things that bother me that shouldn’t be there for a 3yr old car. I notice them because that’s what I do, but my wife doesn’t notice them. I’m just hyper attentive to squeaks, rattles and qc items.
I'm pretty sure they used foam/felt for the fix, although they might have replaced one of the units. Interesting about your Ascent. We have a '20 Outback and that thing has been super solid, no issues.
@@ZetaDogProductions ya the Outback is a pretty sorted vehicle and in my eyes the flagship of Subaru. Although, I’ve had 2 23 Outback’s (one limited 2.5 and an XT Limited) that had the same front end clunk over small bumps as our 21 Ascent that’s still a mystery to the dealer. I haven’t crawled under to find it for myself, but they’ve replaced almost every suspension component on the car. I think it’s in the steering rack or steering shaft since I can feel it in the steering wheel too.
@@ZetaDogProductions I should also mention that when I worked for Toyota, I was the guy that got all the hard to find squeaks and rattles. So I really have an ear for it. For better or worse. Haha
@@cpftank09 I feel your pain. It's a blessing AND a curse, for sure!
Damn. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be getting one. Maybe I’ll check back in in 2025 to see if the 2025 model year is debugged.
It's not just Toyota it's every brand having issues but with Toyota it primarily doesn't appear to be anything that leaves you without a truck for a extended period of time at least from what I read. Just annoying little interior stuff and minor mechanical stuff. I know of a guy personally with either a 21 or 22 Silverado and his truck was in the shop for around 4-6 weeks with some part that they claimed was on backorder. But I truly believe that the dealer just took their sweet time, but you never know.
Rear differential is not a minor mechanical. Having owned, and currently, Toyotas that’s embarrassing. It’s the third year of production we expect a lot more from Toyota
And this is why I bought my 21' 1794, actually 2 reasons..... First, this is my retirement gift to myself 😊...... Second, also because I knew they were eliminating the 5.7 V8. So now I have a truck that will outlast the third gens, That's just my two cents 😉
Looks like it’s pulling to the right as well.
I’m willing to keep my 2016 Tundra Limited Gen 2 and not deal with any of these recall issues.👍😀
My 24 Limited does not have the loose door handles inside or out that you were pulling on or no wind noise, or no rear end noise. Mine runs great. You must have bought one that was built on Monday , LOL. You must have got a Lemon. I don't think most people are having these problems. You need to have them buy it back from you if you are not satisfied and get something else. Sounds like you got too many problems with your truck. My advice, get rid of it.
@Tundra-pw2cu
What you "think" & what you know aren't synonymous. The 3rd Gen Tundra has a litany of issues/serious problems reported by a multitude of owners, they just haven't shown up in your Tundra yet.
I agree my 22 platinum has none of these issues knock on wood 🪵
Thanks for sharing your experience with the 3r gen Tundra. I have looked at this truck for quite some time and have decided to buy something else because of all the problems this truck seams to have after 3 years of production. Very disappointing for a Toyota truck! Also the lack of factory designed front recovery hooks is a huge miss IMHO for an offroad truck.
I agree, it is very disappointing. As others have pointed out, ALL manufacturers are having issues right now, but Toyota does seem better than others in addressing issues in a timely matter. It just sucks because this truck does drive really well and does all the truck stuff without issues.
Hopefully Toyota cleans this stuff up, but either way, I'll keep updating y'all!
Thanks for the info., what a disappointment especially with the rear differential. Toyota’s are not bulletproof.
This is funny i had a 22 then 23 and now 24 very little problems at all a few minor issues on 22 but nothing on 23 or 24 no leaking on windows creaks smooth and powerful
Nice! The truck does have a smooth and powerful drivetrain. I’m glad yours has been trouble free.
@ZetaDogProductions the only issue I had on the 22 was the cracking plastic below driver seat and exceeding wear on front tires the wear was on the outside 1 inch of tire had to get it aligned was to late the 24 I have has 8500 on it tires are much better maybe will get 15000
Ok, thanks a ton for posting this, how many miles are on your truck?. I have a 2024 SR5 with only 1,000 miles on it. I’m concerned about having some of these issues you mention. Can they just disconnect or remove the front spoiler? I’d rather give up the mileage and not deal with the stupid motor. Re: The rear differential, when and how many miles did you have when you started noticing the sound or issues? Lastly, the window bezel, what exactly is the problem and what should one be looking for on this issue? Thanks again
My truck has over 4k miles on it. I don't know if Toyota will disconnect or remove the front spoiler for you, as doing so will throw a bunch of errors on the dash. I believe there is a way to bypass this, but I'm pretty sure doing it yourself will void the warranty.
I probably started noticing the rear diff making a hum/vibration consistently at around 2,500-3,000 miles. Although, the issue could have been there sooner.
Here's a video I posted about the window control bezels. ruclips.net/video/wg5iQ7-qRVE/видео.htmlsi=Mpg_LfYhCfFsqLV9
Mine were loose and had tons of play in them. Apparently this issues is hit or miss, but it just seems like this part is just poorly designed and constructed.
What a headache sorry to hear. Toyota quality going down.
How is that gonna be when out of warranty, though ?
I have the extended warranty, but yeah, not having tons of confidence in this truck for the long haul.
Bought a new 2024 Platinum Crew Max (non-hybrid) I have now 2,400K miles on it. So far two issues:
1- Driver leg seat extender broke - Dealer replaced it under warranty a week ago.
2- Noise coming from the backseat while driving. If someone is seating on the backseat noise stops. Looks like is coming from inside the seats and is annoying. I still can't figure it out where exactly. I will not take it to the dealer yet because I know they will say "we cannot reproduce it" which it will be a waste of time for me. Once I know exactly where is coming from I'll take a video/proof and take it to the dealer to get it fix. Maybe something is loose inside one of the rear seats who knows.. It sucks when you paid 67K for the Truck and you have issues like this. First time a Toyota owner though.
Man, the seat extenders are still breaking on these? I thought that was a 2022-2023 issue. It's definitely disappointing paying a premium price for a truck 3 years into production and still having these quality control issues. Hopefully your mechanical bits remain trouble free!
Is the back seat bouncing on top of the empty storage bin underneath when there isn't enough weight to keep it pressed against the bin? Or is there something in the bin?
@@NoseNuggets I have two car seats back there and some items in the under seat storage, so mine doesn't bounce around that I can tell.
@@NoseNuggets when someone is seating in the back seat I don’t hear the noise. Probably like you said is bouncing somehow. Is not the bin though
My fix for the Gen 3 Tundra is trade off this junk. Hopefully yo can still find a Gen 2 with still low mileage.. Gen 2 no l9nger has a Warranty or a need for it. 👍 Life is too short for these Hassels.
Damn my truck makes that humming noise on the highway too. Thought it was normal. Maybe I should take it in
Definitely not normal. Have your service department check out the rear diff.
@@ZetaDogProductions I have 14k miles on it. I seen on the forums they said it’s normal. I’ll take it in soon. These trucks are becoming a hassle to own. I won’t keep mine past the warranty
I have a issue with my drivers seat, my 2023 tundra only having 14k miles and I know my a average big dude but my driver seat the foam/padding in the seat is ripped apart inside because I can feel the frame / wire bar of the seat 💺 on my back and it every uncomfortable,
Has any tundra owner experience this issue????
Sorry to hear about your seat falling apart. Mine makes a squeaking noise when I reposition myself, and I know a lot of 2022 and 2023 owners whose plastic seat trim has cracked. It's a common issue.
Wow Toyota quality… smh
It's a sad day when ford and Chevy outperform Toyota 🤦
You need to have your doctor up your OCD meds so maybe you won't be bothered by every squeak whine, rattle your shiny truck makes 😅
Yeah, maybe medication helps accept mediocrity. I’ll look into it. Thanks!
Toyota rode in on a horse named “reliability” got off and took photos of itself… The citizenry can learn from this never rest on your laurels… The inconvenience of these repairs Zeta is unfortunate, but the information is vital to all future viewers… Make sure the work is done correctly warranty work frustrates dealer mechanics and rightfully so… May the tide turn in your favor see you in the next video….
