And in the end the results are really really stunning and gorgeous too. You could use the skeleton leave’s for that too, and they’d probably take on the colours too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags

    That last print was indeed fabulous, well done! I made a terrible mistake the first time I used my gel plate and used newspaper to clean my brayer on ... NOT a good idea, the print ended up transferred permanently to the plate and not even alcohol cleaned it off. End of economy drive! Metallic acrylic paints make fab highlights so I usually include at least one. Having great fun experimenting and will try sprinkling a couple of gilding flakes onto the final layer next time as the pot appears to have taken up permanent residence on my table thanks to you :)

    To get really good leaf prints, make sure you rub very firmly over the leaf to get the gaps between the leaves as well as all the leaf textures. You can always use tissue, grease proof (not the silicon covered one though), rice or deli paper to pull the background, as that can really get into the nooks & crannies & will leave gorgeously detailed leaf prints on the plate which can either be pulled quickly or allowed to dry & have another layer of paint or gel medium used to actually pull the print. Also, if you put down too much paint, use your brayer to pull some off so you have a slightly transparent layer.
    You still always manage to create lovely prints though.

    Nice prints. New subscriber. I poke a hole in the seals with a craft knife or sharp skewer. The acetate sheets are for shipping of gel plates and should be discarded. I use them to cut stencils. store plates in clamshell without the acetate.

    • @Chrissieannie
      @Chrissieannie  Год назад

      Thanks. I'm happy to keep the acetate sheets on my Gelli plate as one technique I use requires that one is left on for the process. I also feel that if the acetate sheets are put back on as soon as the plate is cleaned, it keeps the plate completely free from any particles which might stick to it when not in use, leaving the surface totally unmarked. I guess it's good to do what works best for each of us.😊

    Have you tried quickly passing over the greenery with the iron? In Bulgaria kids used to have to make a book with greeneries - herbs, flowers, leaves. I, of course, was always late with assignments so I hadn't dried out the green stuff property and they were not straight. Well, a quick passage with the hot iron (under a paper of course) and they got flat enough 🤭. Have you tried it before? If not, try it out with different heat settings and different steam level. It may be helpful 🤷‍♀️

    I just bought a fern to use for gel printing! Unfortunately when you buy the gel plate, I don’t believe that they tell you not to use the clear plastic that comes on the plate for storage. They should say that because the trapped air bubbles can ruin your plate. If you just clean it with baby oil and then put a sturdy paper on each side for storage in the clamshell that it came in, it should be okay. Also because I have been watching (and enjoying) lots of your videos, an art color wheel may be helpful for color combinations. If you just don’t put the colors that are opposite on the color wheel together, then your colors won’t turn brown or grey. Best of luck!

    • @Chrissieannie
      @Chrissieannie  Год назад

      I use a plastic sheet sometimes when I want to flip the plate before taking a print. I usually try to make sure there are no air bubbles between the film and the plates before storing. Thanks for the advice!
