BACK in the day when radio OPPOSED TV, not sucked up to it like the Bauer stations do now! So sad to hear that Phil Sayer has died. Anyone remember Pete Baker too! Long Live 'proper' commercial radio (not TV without vision that we have now) and all hail the pioneers who came off so-called 'pirate' radio to give us proper memories of lovely happy days when, to quote the legendary Mike Shaft. it was the MUSIC that mattered....
1.04. Over 40 years later, I can still sing this brilliantly evocative jingle off by heart! "We thank you for sharing your day with us.....! Wonderful!
I wonder if these were recorded at Pluto Studios in Granby Row with Phil Bush and Steve Penk etc…. I once gave Steve Penk a lift home from the studios one night. He talked nonstop all the way home but the curious part was that when we went through a tunnel or under a bridge his mouth kept moving but his voice went silent. I guess that’s normal for am radio though….😊
I've never understood the raving about Alfasound. The singing is so dreary and really drags. Did no one tell them to smile when they sing? Radio Trent had an Alfasound package that sounded just as stilted and amateurish. I've never heard an Alfasound jingle that sounded slick or pleasant. Emison had far better production and singers.

Reminds me I have boxes of tapes to get converted in from the good old days
And was it Phil somebody who used to say “a roony, a leeno, stupid boy!” Phil Wood?
