this reminds me of a documentary i once saw of a lioness who lost her cub. she was so heartbroken from her loss that she separated a baby antelope from its herd and started treating it like it was her baby. unfortunately the baby antelope didn't make it either.
Same! That was a big inspiration to this. I remember the lioness kept trying to adopt more and more antelope afterwards but they all kept dying. It was so sad ;w;
Is anyone else on a nostalgia trip watching all of these old, amazing animations they worshipped years ago? I remember seeing this when I was like 13-14 and I still stan it ngl
After reading through the comments a bit, here's what I have to say: Most of the time, for wolves, the drive for companions and the drive for food work together. Wolf packs work together to bring down bigger animals. Because of this, both drives are likely strong in wolves. This animation shows us a strange, though believable, scenario where these drives are brought into conflict. A lone wolf in the middle of winter is probably desperately hungry and lonely. This causes the wolf to see the rabbit not only as potential food, but as a potential companion. That's why it's sympathizing with the rabbit and is hesitant to kill it. Wolves want to comfort their friends, not kill them. The rabbit could be either friend or food, but obviously, it cannot be both at the same time. As important as friendship is to a wolf, food is simply more important, so the wolf's hunger wins out against its loneliness. At least, until the wolf sees the dead rabbit, at which point, _grief_ takes over. I wonder if the wolf will eat the rabbit. Maybe it will, and it will realize that it cannot be friends with rabbits. We all saw how terrified that rabbit was. There's no way any other rabbits would be friends with a wolf. Or maybe the wolf won't eat the rabbit. Maybe its emotions will remain too much of a mess for it to bring itself to kill anything else, which will result in it starving to death.
The second scenario would fit with the line "You'll be safe with me" in the end. That could have been the wolf deciding it would rather starve than kill again, and thus died of hunger. No animal would ever be in danger of being hunted by it again, and therefore, they would be "safe".
Heard it once on a documentary. A leopard was away hunting. A constrictor snake, don't remember if it was a boa or a python, found her cubs. The cubs became the snake's meal. Also don't remember if the snake was found 'red-handed'(you get the point) or if it had to be tracked down, but went killed by the leopard. Then eaten. With the dead cubs' corpses inside. "Una madre cannibale per amore" was the given title in Italy. This could very well be all made up, but it answers to your question.
I saw it more as fighting one's true nature, the desire to change and the fear of failing to become more than we are. The other wolf scenes hinted at an angry, abusive relationship that resulted in our wolf being alone. He didn't want to be the same as those who hurt him, but a wolf needs to eat... he was unable to stop his Instincts in killing the rabbit, even though he sought acceptance and companionship. The rabbit was under no delusions of what would happen, being Frightened of the truth until the end. The wolf brought the body of the rabbit back to its den in grief and confusion, not sure of why he failed to "be better.." the body of "his new friend" being a painful reminder of that failure, and the unsated hunger poisoning his next attempt to "start again" with a new pack/friend.
Even though he knew he would eat the rabbit, he saw himself in the rabbit, they were both fighting to survive the winter, and by laying down next to the rabbit and making its end swift, he made its death a respectable one
@@drawingdragons4097 oh now i get it. He hesitated to kill the rabbit when he saw both were struglling to stay alive, he wanted to wait to kill it. In the end, he regretted it
@@mondaypanther4598 he didn’t regret it, he still got fed. He was probably sad to have to kill the rabbit but he accepted the fact that this is life and predator consumes prey
I remember seeing this as a young teen and absolutely bawling my eyes out, finally found it again after many years and it strangely enough still makes me teary eyed
Here's one thing I noticed that made this video sadder: The reason the wolf had to kill the rabbit and not some other prey was because it was the winter. That rabbit was probably the only thing that wolf would have to eat for along time.. which is why even for as long as it tried to stop itself from hurting that innocent rabbit it had to. Cus it needed to survive. Instincts never care about what you want, only what you need. I hope this writting was okay english is not my expertise
I don't think he want to eat him because in the end he don't eat him, maybe he just want a friend but is instincts tell him to kill the rabbit (I'm not English to but I hope you understood)
This video can be viewed many ways than one. 1. it’s a wolf ashamed of his instincts and he tries to befriends the rabbit. The thing is, he’s a predator and he hunts pray. You can’t stop instincts. After killing the rabbit he felt so ashamed and carried it with him. Looking at the poor rabbit, he feels nothing but guilt for something he can’t control. 2. It’s about a toxic relationship or friendship. The toxic person hurts their partner too much mentally and physically. Although the toxic person still cares, they can’t control what happened to their past which affected them so negatively. It’s not an excuse though, they still had a choice and what they did is unforgivable and that’s on them. Could be from home life and/or something traumatic happened to them. So much damage happened to their relationship or friendship, the dead rabbit is symbolizes how their relationship or friendship will never be the same. Thus, the toxic person feels guilty and ashamed of their bad habits and problems. Knowing that it’s all their fault. There’s probably more views on it but these are the two main ones that I think of :)
So I wasn't the only one who was getting vibes of a possible abusive/toxic relationship metaphor. Something about the fear in the rabbit but bot running away.
The song is actually an abuser singing to their victim, trying to convince them that they're safe. So, really, it's all a lie I'm kinda getting sick of all these abuser-sympathetic comments
@@user-hz5hn7ts1i Same, as soon as I read "Although the toxic person still cares, they can’t control what happened to their past which affected them so negatively..." I felt a knot in my stomach. That's just not how is works...people who are toxic/abusive choose to be. No one's past is ever an excuse to treat people badly, especially since there are so many kind, compassionate people out there who have lived awful experiences. There is never an excuse.
this absolutely destroyed me as a kid and i just wanted to say this. i’m using my old account from when i was a child and i just need to tell you that this video and your channel in general has had such an impact on me from the beginning. i grew up with animation and art, and this video has always held a special place in my heart even now. i’m hoping to be an artist myself and i can’t thank you enough. i know i’m not the only one, you’ve inspired so many people :)
So basically this is about a wolf that didn’t want to be like all the other wolves killing poor animals but he ends up killing the rabbit and feeling sad about it after
i think it's about a wolf that is lonely and has left his pack. he needs companionship but at the same time he's hungry and is driven by instinct to kill prey animals.
I didn't cry because I had a instinct once and I frickin slipped into it and the next day I woke up to my dogs guts hanging out of him and my hands and mouth were covered in blood and I cried so much that month and I became a mute for 2 years straight and this song and animation helped me overcome my fear of this instinct and helped me fight this instinct for killing and now I am totally fine I mean other than killing my dog because of a instinct just comes to show that humans are animals and that instinct always wins
The reason why this almost made me cry was because in the end, the wolf feels bad for what he did. He didn't mean to kill the rabbit, he had to because he had no choice. The message of this is empathy. ❤️
@Milk It's a wolf. Even if he wants to have the rabbit as a friend it will eventually be hungry. And what do wolves eat? Rabbits. It could be his friend and his food source. A wolf will certainly will not let himself starve
@Milk Yes you are correct, they do eat other animals that includes rabbits. So that's his food source too. It's also a lone wolf so it desperately needs food since he has no one to accompany him to share food
With that creepy underscore? No way. For maybe a tiny bit when he was promoting his innocence, but the moment his eye opened wide after reminiscing, nope.
Every once in a while I come back to this animation because it's just so good. I find it really fascinating how playing out the song's lyrics change its meaning a little bit. The song by itself is clearly about an abuser constantly luring their victim back despite the fact that the abuse will not stop. But here, the wolf seems genuine in their desire to protect the rabbit, but they can't overcome instinct, and they can't fathom the rabbit's perspective. They truly love the rabbit, but they hurt them anyway. Maybe this could also be true of the abuser, but it's so much clearer through this animation. The song itself is rather sinister, but we can see the wolf is genuine by their expressions at the end. Just some thoughts, really love this video
Is anyone else thinking that this has a way deeper meaning, like instinct will always come up if someone is starved? Idk, probably just me but my mind is telling me that It's different, like the land scape in the animation is a tundra or something and there is little to no food in tundras which starvation takes hold of a human and it reverts to survival instincts instead of reason and kills another to eat. Idk, probably just my mind....
The wolf was thrown out the pack for prob refusing to hunt and kill, so he founs the rabbit, he was probably rlly hungry, but tried not to kill it. Before realizing it, he killed the rabbit. Now he is sad
I used to cry when I watched this, but time has long since past and with time comes change. My only wish was that I hadn't been forced to grow up so quickly and adapt to my surroundings and the behavior needed to survive in this hellhole. I sometimes miss how innocent I used to be but I know better now that it would bring nothing but trouble. Guess you can say I went from being the rabbit to growing into the wolf.
I had many ideas to the meaning of this song, but the one that makes most sense with this video is that we hurt people who we love due to instinct. we get frustrated with ourselves for being that way, questioning why we do it in the first place, regretting our mistakes everyone, yet we do it again and again. another one is without this video, the wolf is strangely sincere. lets say there is a guy who truly is a good guy, but used to be involved with a bad group of friends or people. "the rest of my pack, I have left them behind", as the person is no longer involved in these things or people. "my teeth may be sharp and I've been raised to kil", could be the way the person used to be to people like those of the rabbit. cruel and uncaring, and "but the thought of fresh meat, it is making me ill", could show how the guy gets sickened if he thinks back of who he used to be or the things he did. "so I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me", as the guy will protect the 'rabbit'. I thought of this too as I know a guy who is a sincerely lovely person, but he used to be horrible with me at a younger age due the the people he had as friends. when the jackass guy left the school, who had an influence on the guy, the wolf, he changed completely. he's the biggest gentleman alive I know, and I know he'll have my back if I need him. there were guys who planned beating me up, and he said I should go to him if somebody tries something. like the wolf who gets sickened by fresh meat, I can see how bad he feels when he thinks bck fo the times he used to be ugly with me. he even has a fantastic influence on my bf and he doesn't even curse anymore. there's so many meanings to this song it's unreal and beautiful.
Just wanted to say at 3:36, wow, the way the wolf nuzzled the dead rabbit was really well detailed and you can see the emotion, when i was younger i cried when watching that part.the emotion reminds me of a dog, (which is a good thing)
Adventure of the wierdos Being bloodthirsty is not instinct and wolves aren’t bloodthirsty soulless animals, they are just as intelligent as we are, they have families and emotions just as we do.
This randomly got recommended again to me and oh boy was it a blast from the past! I'm an adult now but the storyline/concept combined with the music still hits so hard even now. As a kid I was kinda morbidly fascinated by the whole thing and I'm glad the algorithm showed this to me again :)
The metaphor is that of an abusive relationship. The wolf wants the companionship just like anyone else... But due to a very destructive personality and environment growing up, he doesn't know anything else...... The rabbit is of course the significant other whom he has hurt... due to being.... abusive.. and the fear keeps them by the wolf's side.... Sadly the wolf wants to keep the companion safe, even if he cannot truly trust himself... in the end... the abuse is so much that it kills the companion (possibly emotionally which happens... a lot)...... and the wolf has nothing else for companionship and keeps the body..... it also serves to act like a way to place guilt.... the wolf is guilty of killing the companion due to an abusive nature...... and he keeps the body to remind him of what he has done... and what he is....... sadly though... it does nothing to change anything.....
Yes that is exactly right... Wolf has also been pressured on being the animal it's known as.. It's not fair that it was mentally played with but since it's the environment it still is sad but life can't be changed
Dear rabbit, my legs are getting weak chasing you* The snow fields wouldn't seem so big if you knew That this blood on my teeth it is far beyond dry And I've captured you once but I wasn't quite right So I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me. Oh rabbit, my claws are dull now so don't be afraid I could keep you warm as long as you can just try to be brave Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite But the rest of my pack, I have left them behind And my teeth may be sharp and I've been raised to kill But the thought of fresh meat, it is making me ill So I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me. So rabbit please stop looking the other way It's cold out there so why not stay here Under my tail.
iiSilentFoxx aaaa recently I’ve been seeing a lot of people I know from Coy’s server in comments of RUclips videos so like.... Hi!- it’s WhatsHerFace lmao
There is nothing more devastating than being locked into a fate you didn't want. To crave so desperately to be a better person, but knowing that you'll probably never amount to anything more than what you already are. Perpetually angry and alone and disappointed in yourself. Disappointed in life itself. It hurts being that lonely, and this video captured that pain perfectly. The song, the animation, all of it. Just really beautiful in a soul-crushing sort of way
This is how a wolf tries to escape from its insincts, no matter how hard it tries, it can't stop being a predator Edit (2019): Once again, after two years, RUclips recommended this great animation, thank you! And thank you guys for the likes 😁❤ Edit (2020 and beyond): I'll be thanking you all for the likes 💓💓
Kyoko Kirgiggity Ok, can I ask you at what part in his comment did he say anything about the song? He is taking about the video so who is the one who got the wrong meaning you or him?
Its not his job and not only his instinct. Its cold, so there's probably not enough food so he's hungry. If he wasn't hungry the rabbit would've not been chased in the first place. Also while wolves have great fighting and hunting instincts they also have instincts to protect. Wolves would attack and eat humans if there was nothing left to eat.
We can, it just takes a lot of perseverance, patience and strength of will, you can't do anything if you don't try...animals have it harder than us because wild animals and domesticated strays have to hunt and eat other animals to survive...even domesticated animals who have a loving home and are well fed still have that instinct. We know better, you just have to learn to fight the parts of you that you don't want to be...and replace them with good ones.
Well, technically in physiology nature is what you are born with, there is no way of changing it. Nurture is what you learn, who you grow up around, what shapes you as a person. The nature of someone can’t be changed.
Sarcastic Coyote the internet shaped me as a person.. rip me I’m such a bitch now lol (Although I was always a bitch since like 2nd/3rd grade.. I’m just.. more of a bitch now)
These are the lyrics Dear rabbit, my legs are getting weak chasing you The snow fields wouldn't seem so big if you knew That this blood on my teeth it is far beyond dry And I've captured you once but I wasn't quite right So I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me. And my own interpretation line by line. I’m getting tired of the one’s I love running from me, This world wouldn’t seem so easy to run and hide in if they realized, That I’m done with hurting them, I used to be in their lives but I didn’t do them right, But now I won’t hurt them anymore. I’m not going to hurt them so they can stop avoiding me, I could love them if only they’d stop running from me. Yes I know what I am and what I’ve done in the past, But I have left that life behind me, Yes I’m still capable of hurting people and it’s in my nature to do so, But the thought of hurting those I love disturbs me, I want them to know that I won’t hurt them. I just want them to stop turning away from me, It’s a cruel world out there and I want to protect them, Because I feel like I’m the only one that can. Please tell me what you think.
I was born a wolf And for wolves hunt, I hunt I am always lurking, I the brunt I chase them, rabbits, up the hill And For preys be hunted, I kill To be born with a shell, I wish In a sea, to be born a fish Yet I was born a wolf And for wolves howl, I weep I weep over all the preys I shan’t keep
Something about 1:14 always beautifully catches me off guard. Like the fierce look, the walk, the animation, the music. The whole combo - and on top of that - it’s a wolf walking towards a rabbit! Like.. same with 2:56. It’s so cinematically perfect. long story short, I loved it. Beautiful animation!!!!
I watched this many years ago as a kid and felt strong emotions towards it, yet I didn't understand...but now looking back at this....I can see the hidden relationship portrayed in this song and animation. I didn't understand why the world killed the rabbit then tried to keep it. But now Its so clear, and its very sad yet true in many cases. I feal awefull for those who have suffered from relationships like this. Amazing animation btw, one of my childhood favorites!
Feareddestroyer 02 I didn't really expect a jumpscare, I expected some horrific scene of the wolf killing the rabbit, I'm glad it just cut to after that
I used to love this song in middle school and recently watched beastars and was like "...wait a moment, i've seen this before" lmao. They fit perfectly.
Wow. I found this animation when I was 14-15 even drew the rabbit an popped it in one of my school binders. I'm 20 now an this was recommended to me once again.
Tbh, I think it somewhat represents an abusive relationship, The Wolf being the abuser while the Rabbit is the victim, Listen to how the wolf is speaking; It sounds like it's trying to manipulate the rabbit to stay, And the rabbit is the victim trying to escape the situation but getting pulled back via guilt tripping and manipulation. Like if someone told you that they'd kill themself if you broke up with them, most people would stay because they wouldn't want to be the reason they did that.
What i think of the video: “This wolf is stuggling to survive, he left his pack to become good but his hunger takes over him, he kills the rabbit but chooses not to eat it, he knows he cant help his dark instincts he fells like hes not himself, then he sees what hes done and says youll be safe, even though hes killed so many animals” Why do i feel terrible writing this?
I'm not sure if this is true but i read somewhere in the comments long long ago that this song is a metaphor for an abusive relationship. The wolf in this animation cannot fight his nature to harm the rabbit no matter how much it wants to be friendly with it. The rabbit is too weak to run away, it is aware of the wolfs good intentions yet it is terrified because it knows that death can come at any moment from the wolf. As animals this is excusable behavior but if you believe that this story is based off an abusive relationship and you replace the wolf and rabbit with people you'll find yourself disgusted with the sort of human being that says they will do better over and over yet continues to harm the other person even to the point of killing them which is not uncommon in abusive relationships. Maybe that's why you feel terrible because you sense the correlation between the animation and what it might be implying. Just a thought. It's not a fact that this is based off of anything other than a wolf and a rabbit.
I remember watching this when it first came as a kid out and feeling how emotional it was. now seeing it again its emotional in a different way having seeing people who are rabbits and wolves in my life
me: trying to hold my tears back ad comes on: *INTENSE STAR WARS MUSIC* me: starts sobbing this was a really good animation, I watched it about 2 years ago and came back to it today, in 2020
I first saw this animation in 2015, when I was only 9 years old, I was delighted with this animation. And here I am again. I've watched this animation up to this point, found it on RUclips. For me, this is real nostalgia. I still admire this animation, it's cool.
I love this animation, it fits well with the song lyrics. Is really sad that the wolf couldn't controll his instinct, even if he tried (almost starved himself), but nature it's nature, even if the song probably refers to something else that it's represented by a "predator and prey" relationship.
When I was a kid, I love this animation so much. I would play it over and over to the point where if I just heard the song, I would automatically put your animation to it. I have gone blind a couple years ago and it’s so comforting to be able to replay this animation, so well, detailed in my head, knowing that I still forever hold this amazing art piece in my mind.
this song is actually about an abusive relationship. there's an alchoholic abusive man in a realationship with a girl.. they break up.. but eventually He comes back, and promises that he's changed, so the girl goes back to him.. Now.. the man was raised in a very unstable home where his family (his pack) always fought, and his father was an alcoholic.. So he promised himself that when he grew up, he wouldn't become like his father...but as he grw up he showed more and more signs of going down the wrong path.. in the end the wolf (the alchoholic man) grows up trying to be a good partner, and person.. but he just can't seem to hide his true colors, even if he doesn't want them to show.. everntually beats the rabbit (the woman) to death one night.. Then once he realizes what he's done, he becaomes hysterical, and (hinted) kills himself.. or goes for his next victim (aka relationship) from all the guilt and torment in his own mind.. honestly a tragic symbolic song..
I remember my obsession with this song in the past when I was younger, roleplaying as a wolf or singing it at the top of my lungs. Such a beautiful animation and song.
I watched this more times than I can count as a child and coming back to this not only gives me a huge wave of nostalgia but also makes me see this in such a new way. Great animation, watched this throughout my life.
I feel like this wolf is like the monstrous side of a person, and he wants to change his ways. There's this person or people that he really cares about -- rabbit -- and he wants them to let go of their fear; he wants them to trust him. But in the end, he succumbed to the command of his demons again.
Jai Rori, I agree that this is the message. The wolf may have wanted to spare the rabbit, perhaps in loneliness or out of his abandonment by his pack but he is still a wolf. He will find his way.
I know what you mean; most of my family are pretty… rough around the edges. My dad is a former cocaine dealing, loan sharking, Vietnam Vet turned successful business man and my moms side of the family are mostly crazy and/or career criminals. I myself was a heroin dealer for awhile. My dad and I are both reformed and we’re both pretty nice guys but we both fight what my grandfather called “our Scottish blood”, when push comes to shove we have a tendency to lose our tempers and go berserk. I’m not the toughest guy around, I’ve ended an argument by ripping a door off its hinges when a guy was trash talking me from the other side, but my dad… I’ve seen him floor an amateur MMA fighter who had about 6” on him with a single punch, I’ve seen him pick a guy up off the ground to end an argument, I’ve seen him get into a 6 on 1 fight against some drunk 20 somethings and scare them enough to all back down, and I’ve seen him shove his way into a bar fight and end it by knocking a half a dozen guys to the floor. We’re both animals but we fight the rage and we can at least act like nice guys even when we’d normally be getting bloody.
Revisiting this for the first time in years, the ending still makes me cry. I absolutely love the animation from 1:08 - 1:23. I have literally re-watched that segment alone over and over.
You know what I find sad? That a wolf regrets killing a single bunny, which he only did because he knew he had to or else he’d starve, whilst on the other hands a human can kill multiple rabbits for *sport,* and not have any regret whatsoever.
Juniper Jackal AJ but this is an animation. Wolves don't really feel guilty for killing rabbits. They have to do whatever it takes to survive. I'm not trying to hate on wolves, they are actually my favorite animal
free baby plants I know it’s an animation, but it still has an important meaning; and to me all throughout the video all I could think of was how we are killing multiple animals (not just rabbits, but all animals in general) carelessly, and this *wolf* regrets his choice almost immediately. Like Brother Bear (if you haven’t seen it, it’s by Disney, really good movie) Brother Bear is about a guy who doesn’t care about bears, saying they don’t feel, but when he gets turned into one and meets a lost bear cub that changes. Guys don’t really get turned into bears by the spirits of the sky; it’s just a movie. But it has an important message, and while the movie focuses more so on loving and stuff rather than people killing too many animals... I still feel this animation means a lot more than it does to most people. And yeah wolves are also one of my favourite animals 💜 🐺
SixZealousShuzie Yes. We all learned that in Zootopia. But it’s not just the rabbits I’m worried about. Just because they might not be in trouble doesn’t mean other animals aren’t. Cheetahs, for example, they breed at normal rate, and we still continue to hunt them to the point that we may only be able to see them in a museum. Those rhinos, I forget what they’re called, but there was only one left in the world. I don’t know if it’s still alive, but it’s still a sign that they were overhunted and are now probably extinct. I know hunting isn’t the only cause of an animal's extinction, but it is a major one. Sorry if I’m unclear. Also I’m just a huge animal lover and hate it when humans kill animals for "sport" and not to actually put them to good use
for the people who dont understand the wolf is hungry that he couldn't control himself he doest want to bite the rabbit but he did then he sat beside the rabbit the rabbit was terrified but the rabbit feel his sadness the wolf look at the rabbit and the rabbit got scared.the wolf begun to lost himself again and killed The rabbit.he bring the rabbit to his cave but didn't ate it.he felt sad and regret everything..he hate to eat cuz he have to kill an innocent creature
I don't want this to come off as 'I am very badass', but I feel like this sometimes. The song and the animation combine to form such a heavy feeling in my soul. You can almost feel the poor wolf's conscience burning. Like overwhelming darkness consumes it, yet it still tries to do something good, but that darkness is nature. Something it just can't beat. That heavy feeling is something I'm very accustomed too. Although, it is just an animation I hope it gets peace someday. Sorry, I know that was stupid. I just wanted to put this down.
I'm sat, right now, with a friend. Just on his couch. We'd just finished watching Plague Dogs, and this was in the recommended. So... we watched it. I'm absolutely fucking blown away, first of all. This is an absolutely beautiful animation. Holy FUCK. This is absolutely amazing. Just... this is wonderful. Thank-you.
Alx Windsar I think you mean 'dialect' or 'colloquial language'. If you're gonna try and contradict me. Atleast know what the fuck you are talking about.
Like the sun chases the moon, the wolf chases the rabbit. A tireless wheel that cannot be broken no matter how tired the wolf gets, because if he was to stop, the sun would never rise for him again
Rabbit is drawn in a very Watership Down style. This is well made.
soo truee oh memories of Watership Down
You're right....
oh my...I was thinking about poor captain holly, apparently i wasn't alone lol
Yeah now that you mention it
I watched Watership Down. The whole season. The ending was beautiful. The little buns look cute. I'm sure BigWig is annoyed by his kids though. XD
this reminds me of a documentary i once saw of a lioness who lost her cub. she was so heartbroken from her loss that she separated a baby antelope from its herd and started treating it like it was her baby. unfortunately the baby antelope didn't make it either.
I think I saw that too!
Same! That was a big inspiration to this. I remember the lioness kept trying to adopt more and more antelope afterwards but they all kept dying. It was so sad ;w;
Frumpy Doggie hey i saw that too and the frist baby antelope died because it was killed by that big male lion so sad :(
I remember watching that when I was about six, and every nature programme since has reminded me of it! I felt so bad for her!
I think a different lion ate it though
Is anyone else on a nostalgia trip watching all of these old, amazing animations they worshipped years ago? I remember seeing this when I was like 13-14 and I still stan it ngl
ME! I watched them animations years ago!
yeah ngl
yeah every few years i come back to old videos and watch them - and cry
Sameee! I watched this when I was 12/13... I’m turning 18 this weekend and DAMN this hits different still
Yeah same
After reading through the comments a bit, here's what I have to say:
Most of the time, for wolves, the drive for companions and the drive for food work together.
You are bad
YOU JUST MADE IT MORE DEPRESSING

I remember seeing this as a young teen and absolutely bawling my eyes out, finally found it again after many years and it strangely enough still makes me teary eyed
Here's one thing I noticed that made this video sadder:
The reason the wolf had to kill the rabbit and not some other prey was because it was the winter. That rabbit was probably the only thing that wolf would have to eat for along time.. which is why even for as long as it tried to stop itself from hurting that innocent rabbit it had to. Cus it needed to survive. Instincts never care about what you want, only what you need.

when I first listened/watched this I cried tbh-
I don't think he want to eat him because in the end he don't eat him, maybe he just want a friend but is instincts tell him to kill the rabbit (I'm not English to but I hope you understood)
Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwyxyz
So I wasn't the only one who was getting vibes of a possible abusive/toxic relationship metaphor. Something about the fear in the rabbit but bot running away.
The song is actually an abuser singing to their victim, trying to convince them that they're safe. So, really, it's all a lie
I'm kinda getting sick of all these abuser-sympathetic comments

That's just not how is works...people who are toxic/abusive choose to be. No one's past is ever an excuse to treat people badly, especially since there are so many kind, compassionate people out there who have lived awful experiences.

I not reading allat
@@beepbeep4471 skill issue
Is anyone else thinking that this has a way deeper meaning, like instinct will always come up if someone is starved? Idk, probably just me but my mind is telling me that It's different, like the land scape in the animation is a tundra or something and there is little to no food in tundras which starvation takes hold of a human and it reverts to survival instincts instead of reason and kills another to eat. Idk, probably just my mind....
Deeeeep bruh
It could have to do with like toxic relationships too. Idk
There is snow, there isn't anything to eat so yeah
You have a good mind and weather your right or wrong its still good to have your own opinion. Im happy to read it regardless.
That isn't a tundra. Tundras have only snow in some spots, but that has snow everywhere.

I hope you're in a good place

+Ducki Babe agreed... very sad....

Its not JOB its intick (sorry if i soell it wrong) animal dont have jobs
Magic Snow Wolf yeah
It'sthe instinct of that poor wolf, the wolf didn't want to kill it... DAMN YOU MOTHER NATURE WHY YOU GOTTA DO THIS!?!?
Its not his job and not only his instinct. Its cold, so there's probably not enough food so he's hungry. If he wasn't hungry the rabbit would've not been chased in the first place. Also while wolves have great fighting and hunting instincts they also have instincts to protect. Wolves would attack and eat humans if there was nothing left to eat.
Me to I know I'm a wolf but I am sorry
This story taught us that, as long as we want to change our true nature,
*we can't*
Well we can its just not that easy
Guess I'm staying anxious
We can, it just takes a lot of perseverance, patience and strength of will, you can't do anything if you don't try...animals have it harder than us because wild animals and domesticated strays have to hunt and eat other animals to survive...even domesticated animals who have a loving home and are well fed still have that instinct. We know better, you just have to learn to fight the parts of you that you don't want to be...and replace them with good ones.
Well, technically in physiology nature is what you are born with, there is no way of changing it. Nurture is what you learn, who you grow up around, what shapes you as a person. The nature of someone can’t be changed.

And my own interpretation line by line.
I’m getting tired of the one’s I love running from me,
This world wouldn’t seem so easy to run and hide in if they realized,
That I’m done with hurting them,
I used to be in their lives but I didn’t do them right,
But now I won’t hurt them anymore.
I’m not going to hurt them so they can stop avoiding me,
I could love them if only they’d stop running from me.
Yes I know what I am and what I’ve done in the past,
But I have left that life behind me,
Yes I’m still capable of hurting people and it’s in my nature to do so,
But the thought of hurting those I love disturbs me,
I want them to know that I won’t hurt them.
I just want them to stop turning away from me,
It’s a cruel world out there and I want to protect them,
Because I feel like I’m the only one that can.
Please tell me what you think.

Allison Carlberg You think that's funny...? You people have No hearts.
Anyone else came here for nostalgia?

Yes..
I’m here for nostalgia this was the first video I watched on RUclips after all
Wow. I found this animation when I was 14-15 even drew the rabbit an popped it in one of my school binders. I'm 20 now an this was recommended to me once again.
I tend not to think of this as sad, but as a lesson to never turn your back on a hungry wolf..
To many feel pity for the wolf. I wonder how they'd feel if it was them the wolf bit.
Loldom777 Plays & Animates The may song is representing an abusive relationship, but this animation is probably not
@@jeremyfisher1833 I would still feel pity because the wolf tried
I think it's just saying that no matter how much you try to control your true colors it's going to come out soon.
I havent watched this animation since I was like, 11. Made me cry everytime :((
Same as the "wolf song" animation
Edit: okay it still makes me cry
Wolfsong is not sad anymore, it's heartbreaking😢
YES😭😭
bro I broke my old phone all because of the vid. I broke it because I hated the hunters.
I seen wolf son it made me cry too
What i think of the video: “This wolf is stuggling to survive, he left his pack to become good but his hunger takes over him, he kills the rabbit but chooses not to eat it, he knows he cant help his dark instincts he fells like hes not himself, then he sees what hes done and says youll be safe, even though hes killed so many animals”
Why do i feel terrible writing this?
Cause you are a good and loving person.
Did you make your youtube channel name because u love wings of fire just like me???
Wings of firewe
Wow, I just have the most amazing spelling
I remember watching this when it first came as a kid out and feeling how emotional it was. now seeing it again its emotional in a different way having seeing people who are rabbits and wolves in my life

this was a really good animation, I watched it about 2 years ago and came back to it today, in 2020
I don't know why that made me laugh. It's just *intense stsrwars music* and you just start crying.
All he wanted was to show love... but he only has the instincts of a killer--he tries so hard to fight them but he cannot help the need to catch......

Why do you say he?
its just food, we eat animals all the time and we don't feel guilty.

Is really sad that the wolf couldn't controll his instinct, even if he tried (almost starved himself), but nature it's nature, even if the song probably refers to something else that it's represented by a "predator and prey" relationship.
all i wanna do now is sit in a corner hugging a bunny while eating a taco.

Few seconds later...
Me: Oh. I thought it would be a jumpscare. Oops.
I almost half expected it to go into a metal guitar riff. So yeah. It definitely plays around with you.
SAME! I fast forward it because I was too scared

Then once he realizes what he's done, he becaomes hysterical, and (hinted) kills himself.. or goes for his next victim (aka relationship) from all the guilt and torment in his own mind..
honestly a tragic symbolic song..
holy is this true? cuz if it is thats awesome
Really you don't have to see it that way, I don't atleast because I see a completely diffrent story.
anybody know the name of this song
Suni Reyes i know I'm a wolf by young heretics
Murlocknight thank you so much
I remember my obsession with this song in the past when I was younger, roleplaying as a wolf or singing it at the top of my lungs. Such a beautiful animation and song.
At 2:30 in the video, I always take my deepest breath then howl along to the song. I have to say I’ve gotten it grammatically correct!
Well then that took a dark turn...
No more internet for today

Your comment actually cheered me up

This is so sad.... Not many people can put so much emotion in an only four minutes long video like you did here... cry
I watched this more times than I can count as a child and coming back to this not only gives me a huge wave of nostalgia but also makes me see this in such a new way. Great animation, watched this throughout my life.
I'm happy for wolf, because he tried to be good... this story is so sad 😭
*He tried to be good and not die*
《Bear Fam 》 what why
He never ate the rabbit.
@G B tf
It's just natural.. I honestly don't understand how people are sad.. Lmao just me?
I feel like this wolf is like the monstrous side of a person, and he wants to change his ways. There's this person or people that he really cares about -- rabbit -- and he wants them to let go of their fear; he wants them to trust him. But in the end, he succumbed to the command of his demons again.
I've heard a lot of people say this song I'd about abusive relationships so I think that is what the song is trying to convey
That’s how it be sometimes fam
Yes,our darkest nature's are often the hardest to not give in too.
We can’t change who we are.
Jai Rori, I agree that this is the message. The wolf may have wanted to spare the rabbit, perhaps in loneliness or out of his abandonment by his pack but he is still a wolf. He will find his way.
Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep fighting it. Doesn’t mean we can’t fight ourselves. Man vs Man
I know what you mean; most of my family are pretty… rough around the edges.
Pastrus S, you're right I understand that, I just saw this video as a failed attempt to fight himself.
We can, it can be one of the hardest things to do in life. Sometimes nature is literally against us.
I'm not trying to hate on wolves, they are actually my favorite animal
free baby plants
I know it’s an animation, but it still has an important meaning; and to me all throughout the video all I could think of was how we are killing multiple animals (not just rabbits, but all animals in general) carelessly, and this *wolf* regrets his choice almost immediately.
Like Brother Bear (if you haven’t seen it, it’s by Disney, really good movie)
Brother Bear is about a guy who doesn’t care about bears, saying they don’t feel, but when he gets turned into one and meets a lost bear cub that changes.
And we will hunt them to extinction!😢😭😢😭😢😭😢
Juniper Jackal AJ - You do know rabbits breed like nobody's business and can tear an ecosystem apart.
SixZealousShuzie
Yes.
MiaInkSansDragon 1234 the damn video was sad okay. It wasn't my fault that the ninjas were cutting onions.
So sad..
annihilator-x why are animals depicted as singers? there's no point to what those movies show either if there's no point to what this shows.

"Dogs eat little kids"

I don't want this to come off as 'I am very badass', but I feel like this sometimes. The song and the animation combine to form such a heavy feeling in my soul. You can almost feel the poor wolf's conscience burning. Like overwhelming darkness consumes it, yet it still tries to do something good, but that darkness is nature. Something it just can't beat. That heavy feeling is something I'm very accustomed too. Although, it is just an animation I hope it gets peace someday.
Sorry, I know that was stupid. I just wanted to put this down.
We’re all allowed to indulge in angst sometimes lol

Like the sun chases the moon, the wolf chases the rabbit. A tireless wheel that cannot be broken no matter how tired the wolf gets, because if he was to stop, the sun would never rise for him again
