Hi Matt. I am happy I stumbled onto this video! I am also happy to be your 50th "Like" on this video (LOL). You sound great! Great playing. Great interpretation. Bravo!
A lucky find that was sold to me by a student of Helen Kotas Hirsch many years after acquiring it from her teacher. It was made for Helen by Carl Geyer. Ron Pinc made a leadpipe for it and I use a Laskey 775F mouthpiece.
Very nice, but it is a dance. Where is the feeling of a dance? Even though it is lento, in my opinion it is played way to slow. Don't bring romantic era ideas into the baroque. They didn't exist yet!
You also have to keep in mind that Bach was mourning the death of his mother when he wrote this. Even though it is baroque, I think this interpretation is appropriate.

Very nice interpretation of a masterpiece, and a tough piece for the horn!
Thank you for listening Fred. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Forgive me for not being able to tell just from looking, but what horn/mouthpiece combination are you playing on?
