Taxes are insane. I was watching a video where a real estate developer mentioned taxes on a condo went from around 15k 15 years ago to 200k now.

A whole generation of Canadians in the age range of 25 to 40 will never own a home. We are not living just existing

As a senior from seeing the misery going on just having any place to live would be welcome.
Face it the people that were voted into office both sons of rich politicians have been a disaster.

Condos are super rip-offs ! Nowadays they are over-priced to begin with, then the property tax is too high, and worse of all, some of the condo fees are insane and only rise every year along with the taxes and insurances ! Why bother with a condo ?

We don't need more homes built at these prices. Why?

New homes at today's prices are NOT the answer. If they are not affordable, who will buy them? Fees, taxes and interest rates must be a lot lower (you did address the interest rates, but that's only one part of the problem). Do that, and rents will begin to come down. Legislation and local bylaws need to be changed to allow for development of SMALL home areas in towns and cities, something in the 700 to 1200 square foot area. That's what they built after WW2, and people were able to afford them. No, probably not the 'forever home' we all see on HGTV, but something practical that meets the current need. Real Estate and sellers need to get over their vivid wet dreams of Covid prices, and to get real. Until that happens, NOTHING is going to get better. It's a bubble. Recognize it, deal with it, and we can all get on with our lives. No apologies will be offered for offending anyone, the entire industry, investors and builders need to get back to reality.
