The Smiths are great. Critics have called them one of the most important bands to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s. NME named the Smiths the "most influential artist ever" and , three of the band's albums appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The band's focus on a guitar, bass, and drum sound, and their fusion of 1960s rock and post-punk, were a rejection of the then-popular, synthesiser-based dance-pop. Marr's guitar work, using a Rickenbacker, had a jangle pop sound. Morrissey's complex, literate lyrics combined themes about ordinary people with mordant humour.
I will never cease to be utterly obsessed with The Smiths I'm seriously debating a tattoo There are few bands I can listen to for hours with the exception of The Beatles and Oasis but I could listen to their entire discography from start to finish quite happily
Just listen to the "The Queen is Dead" Album all the way through by The Smiths. It`s 35 years old and its still my top 3 albums in my life and im 48!! You wont regret it!!
I really think you would love Sam Fender, dead boy's. Has a really clean tone to his voice. The Smiths were the best band from the 80s. Johnny Marr is god
This is a 1984 ToTP clip, redubbed with the untouched "John Porter" studio version (as opposed to the "John Peel" studio version which everyone agrees is better). Their third single and their first big hit, though never as highly regarded as its predecessor. Both Marr and Moz always cited it as one of their least favorite Smiths songs. As you can hear, this version suffers from a very basic drum/bass rhythm - the song needs a more swinging rockabilly-esque rhythm. Here's the proof - https:/-/ruclips.net/video/Axg3zQvHqD4/видео.html . This seems like the place to drop a Major Link. If there's one Smiths song I really think someone should react to on camera, it's this one - ruclips.net/video/f00uw-EY3Ew/видео.html
