Yes Kevin another good video mate I am an ex RN of 40+ years and am now free of alcohol for over 16 years and know that you have really done your research. I do hope those who watch your channel take heed of what you are saying because in my working life I saw many people die from this condition especially those extremely large bleeds from oesophageal varices. One warning sign of that is the occasional vomiting of blood and if that happens then you need to seek medical advice ASAP because it means that you are near end-stage liver disease. I am of course the viewer of your channel who keeps on about the health of your gut and its relationship with the mind and I urge every person who watches your channel to take time out to read this - The Gut: new revised and expanded edition by Enders, Giulia it will change your whole outlook not only on alcoholism but also depression.
I was chatting with an intensive care nurse recently, she was telling me how many young people were showing up with cirrhosis, especially women under 30... Life over.
@@HabitsV2 Yes Kevin it is very sad in my working days as a Registered Nurse I saw many more patients that were a fair bit older than what it appears to be now. It is really in my mind down to the lack of information to the young about binge drinking or drinking to excess in general, plus the decline in the provision of mental health care - a field I started my career in. In general, too is the problem of poverty and the lack of job opportunities due to either automation hence an ordinary individual is often drawn to the refuge of taking to drink and drugs. We mustn't forget too that drugs, as well as alcohol, produces the same outcomes of alcoholism. But keep up the good work mate I will always support your channel and hope that education of teaching young people the dangers of alcohol and it becomes part of the curriculum of schools especially those of the age that do have problems during adolescence.
@johngoard8272 Educating the young without the visuals, ie. *explicit videos showing addicts in their sorry state* is a wasted effort. In my opinion. And as far as lack of work is concerned, there's ample work in UK, the State is too weak/lenient and generous with the benefits system (like everything else) - hence encouraging idleness etc. *FACT*
Stopped drinking 2 summers ago. Cravings are gone. Memory better. Unfortunately lots of family are drinkers, weekends, football, holidays, bbq, every gathering
If you have jaundice you are already pretty messed up. I drank beers, a lot, for nearly 30 years and what buffers the damage is a good diet, hard work and plenty of excercise . Sedentary and hard liquor is a killer.
Old age makes it even worse, been there and now 4 plus years not. Had 8 years dry in the 2000s,,,,then fell off but the 12 steps have helped me. So stop drinking before it's a real health issue peeps.
Great videos but these are actually quite late stages showing you are in big trouble. Having liver function checked can pick damage up earlier . Take care you all x
I was very lucky that I didn't get any of these. The doctors told me that the good news was that my liver was fine, the bad news was that my nervous system was completely shot. Took me a year before I could walk properly again.
I would be interested to hear more. I’m like you my nervous system is shot , and have a hard time to walk straight. How did you get better? Did you go through therapy? Was it neuropathy?thanks

I have watched a few videos like this and can add a bit of information. My Grandfather died in mid 50s , he ran a pub in Richmond, London. My mother was deverstated when her father passed away. I was adopted and at age 11 my family moved to a property in Winchester , next door was a pub called .. The Rising Sun. Opposite was the Cricketers and 100 M away the Riverside. So paradoxically my parents took me to live there. I have been drinking since 1978. Not daily initially and mostly only beer. A period of beer and wine came and went. Since 2003 , almost daily beer drinking. I am 62 now and not a single sign or symptom as described in this video. I personally think that many of these stories of liver damage are attributable to strong Spirits , Wine and Shot drinkers who slaughter themselves for years. Maybe I am wrong , but the evidence is that a low and slow drinking routine , the liver copes with. Moderate and your body will tolerate.
Everybody's different. I only ever drank beer and I had symptoms of liver failure by my mid-30's. If I didn't quit I would be dead. When I worked in the medical field I knew patients much younger than that. One guy was on death's door at 26 from drinking. I don't know if he made it or not but the doctors didn't have much hope for him. Other people live to 80 drinking a gallon of whiskey a day and seem fine.

Iv just quit just in time .hopefully iv stopped firther damage .i couldnt walk .took me 3 weeks after stopping drinking to wàlk again. The liver has no nerve endings , so you can damage it quite a bit before feeling pain .circulation is still bad
I was recently diagnosed with fatty liver disease, after an abdominal ultrasound. I went to the doctor after noticing very pale stools after drinking beer the night before. I dont drink much anymore but the last 2 times I did I had this weird reaction. My energy level is rock bottom, it hurts to stand for more than 20 or 30 minutes. I had chalked that up to my weight which is around 250 at 5’11”. Currently self employed so no health insurance. Not sure if a run to Mexico is in order to get better imaging test like a CT or MRI.
😂 Yes, the accent is strange... I spent my teens in Dublin, then was in Clare for 20 years, but there's a bit of Yorkshire in there as well from when I was young...
A beer belly is a combination of extra visceral fat from the empty calories consumed from alcohol that your body didn't burn. It's not necessarily from a swollen liver yet but it's a serious sign that you need to slow down or stop.
