You cannot go wrong with vintage, made in Japan Yamaha. Red, Orange or Beige label. I own two FG 350D (beige). I think these are the finest folk guitars in the world. As good or better than the top Martin, whoever. The rich, full body tone. The sound projection. The sustain. It just does not get better than this.
Hi Sir Larry. Yes indeed the FS5 sounds better as it is more modern construction wise. The FG-202 holds on its own as well. I'd say it's like owning a piece of nostalgic history.

Hi Christian. I'm not really sure about what was there on the 202 but I think they are old extra light PB strings of whatever brand. The FS5 I remember has D'Addario XT Light Gauge.
They both sound fantastic the newer model is brighter naturally, but I prefer older acoustic guitars they are a bit more mellow but it depends on the player and what style and sound they are going for, great demo my friend and very well played 🎸🎸👏👏🙏🙏
Oh Thank You so much Sir for listening. Yeah when I was recording and observing the older one sounded mellow and resonant but with the FS5 it sounded darker but with more power and volume. Both of them are great to use and listen to.

Thank you sir for watching. A good string pair would be anything thats nickel. It,s will make it sound warmer and woody.
They both sound good, but I think I like the FS5 Red Label better. I just bought an older Yamaha FG-331, it sounds pretty good.
