  • This video shows how to apply Kiwi liquid black shoe polish as an ink wash to the cars that come in the board game Thunder Road Vendetta.
The ink wash is easy to apply and the brushes can be cleaned with water.

    Hi, thx for the video!
I used your technique and it works like a charm, however I'm concerned as it seems like it takes a long time to dry. Can you tell me how much time you waited roughly before applying varnish? Maybe the liquid shoe shine I used is a different formula? : /

I used Kiwi liquid shoe polish and it dried for me in about 15 minutes. Even if it's not completely dry, you can still use rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad to clean the car up and the polish will still stay in the cracks. I never did end up applying any type of sealer on them.

Thank you for this tutorial! After they are dried, how easily does the shoe polish come off? And will it leave residue on your fingers?
    Thank you for your time!

After it dries, the shoe polish holds up very well and does not come off unless you use alcohol or some kind of solvent. It actually holds up better than using acrylic paint on a plastic miniature.
I don't show it in the video but alcohol cleans up the car very nicely afterwards and you don't have to worry about if you got the wash a bit too dark.
I would wear some plastic gloves because it will stain your fingers.
