- If you haven’t seen Godzilla vs Kong then click away immediately, this is a movie breakdown and it will concentrate on one important question, Why didn’t Godzilla Kill Kong during the fight in Hong Kong. Well, first of all the winner is now definitely known in the versus battle between the two titans. Although Kong was much more cunning and tactical in his battle with the Big G, he was grossly outmatched due to the incredible durability and the deadly atomic breath. But still Kong managed to secure a win against Mechagodzilla, one which Godzilla lost to. So this battle of these three monsters ended up in Godzilla winning over Kong, Mechagodzilla over Godzilla and finally Kong over Mechagodzilla, just like a love triangle. Enjoy the video guys!

I think its about honour for him. He'd rather win a fight, not commit an execution on a defeated foe. Ghidorah was an alien bent on destroying the planet, he needed to die, the mutos were upsetting the balance so they needed to die to, but kong was just a rival alpha.
After the Ghidora fight, when the other monsters bowed, there was a muto among them, but im sure you meant the aggressive mutos were attempting to spread their offspring across the world so THEY specifically had to die.

@@trusivraj6173 ya I feel like godzille wouldn't kill the motu if they dont do anything
He didn't kill him for one obvious reason. Unlike the others he's dispatched...Kong really had no interest in dominance. He just wasn't a threat to anything, if he was Godzilla would have sought him out ages ago to put him down. All Kong wanted was to chill at home. It's the pesky humans that put him in the fight.
Humans in the series is so damn insecure, they even think GZ is the threat even though mecha is the true enemy.
Humans constantly playing the true role of the villain in these movies. Smh.
That's the way I saw it. I felt like Godzilla, even when he absolutely kicked Kong's ass, at the end of the day knows Kong is a benevolent titan and isn't a threat to his existence or humanity like Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla are. So killing him for the sake of dominance is kind of a waste of time. Some people, especially normies forget, Godzilla may be less sympathetic but he has an intelligence and a purpose, he's just not a mindless murder machine.
@@bretbuckley704 Honestly tho, so many people act like Godzilla is just a dumb lizard when his intelligence is easily equal or greater than that of any human. My man felt amusement at how he harmed Kong, and could very visibly feel hate.

I like how basically everyone knew who the villain was too, like Madison knowing he's evil. No twist villain since it was obvious
To be fair it does thicken the plot with a fair bit of the human stuff but the human stuff with the Apex plot couldn't really be cut.
People really underestimate Godzilla's intelligence. I cannot tell you how many people say or imply how "he's just a dumb lizard and apes are like humans, so Kong is smarter." Apes share 98.8% DNA with humans, so Kong being intelligent, at least for a creature like him, is natural. Godzilla, on the other hand, can come off as a bumbling, simple-minded giant. However, through out all three movies he's been in, Godzilla has shown not only shown awareness for his surroundings and those who have helped him, his combat smarts and sixth-sense is bonkers.
Godzilla was halfway across the world from Hong Kong when he literally stopped, turned around and headed straight toward it as he sensed MechaGodzilla's, or rather Ghidorah's presence. That aside, Godzilla is not a creature without emotion. Sure, most of the time, we see him as some angry force of nature. But as the films progressed, we've seen Godzilla cry out in grief, smile and exhibit curiosity towards things.
In KOTM, Godzilla was visibly upset when Mothra was obliterated and in GvK, he showed actual pleasure when he shot Kong out of the air and even "laughed" at him. Then, when Kong saved Godzilla by redirecting the beam, Godzilla looked genuinely relieved and happy at Kong helping him. I think he even cracked a slight smile in the ending before Kong dropped the axe, which indicated he saw Kong as an ally and possibly a friend. At least that's what I think. Hell, even when he had Kong trapped underneath his foot, he acknowledged Kong's will and defiance.
also in 2014 while fighting the male muto, he realized that the male muto attacks his back. So he looked away for a second, luring the male muto close so he could slam him into the building
Wise as a serpent. He gave Kong a nod after beating him.
Godzilla has millions of years of experience though. Kong is just naturally like that. Yeah Godzilla is incredibly smart and never makes the same mistake twice tbh but Kong's intelligence is much higher for sure considering he's only been around for like what...under 100 years?
Love this comment but I'm not sure I would agree that G-man is necessarily "happy"... I think Godzilla is in a constant state of "Fight me if you've got the balls" until he encounters something like Ghidorah/Mechagodzilla. These enemies are outside the balance of nature and Godzilla perceives them as a sickness to be cut out. You can see that he wastes no time in going all-out on Ghidorah in Antarctica, but when he fights other Titans it's never full-tilt from the start. Except maybe the MUTOs. When Godzilla fights Kong in the ocean he's clearly just trying to get Kong to back down - and Kong will not. Kong roars back at him, beats his chest, actively tries to maneuver into a better position to engage... so Godzilla wants to square up. He doesn't want to kill Kong. He wants Kong to submit.
I think Godzilla resents Kong for his defiance. Godzilla knows Kong can't be left alone forever, but he also knows he can't do it all on his own. Godzilla tried to keep all of the monsters awake after King Of The Monsters - they were doing good things for the Earth and restoring balance. However, not all of the Titans are reasonable and some were causing problems... such as Scylla and Amhuluk. Godzilla was constantly traveling around the Earth putting down small acts of Rebellion among the Titans to the point that it was exhausting him and he hadn't had time to recover properly from his fight with Ghidorah. Because of this, Godzilla told them all to go back into Hibernation. Kong is a threat to the balance Godzilla maintains - not to the Balance itself, and Godzilla is smart enough to realize this. Godzilla has proven he can coexist with Alpha Titans such as Mothra.
He didn't want Kong dead, he wanted Kong to recognize his status as Alpha. Godzilla has to feel confident that Kong will obey. Godzilla was about to kill Kong in the same way he killed Ghidorah - stomping through his chest. Kong wouldn't back down, even at the moment of defeat... and, remember, Kong was GOING to die. Godzilla may have realized this and left him alone because why execute a finished opponent? If Lind hadn't overloaded the HEAV to produce an enormous electric shock to Kong's heart, Kong would have died - killed by Godzilla.
A big reason People think Godzilla is Dumb is because many still think Dinosaurs like T-rex were Dumb.
In actuality T-rex was Likely very Intelligent, and Skilled Hunters, they'd have to be to live upto 30 years to get to they're full size.
Godzilla's lived for millions of years, with the experience of countless Battles.
Kong's only be around for maybe 180 years about now.
Kongnmight be Ape Smart...but still has alot of Maturing to do.
Godzilla probably gave Kong a nod because he sees Kong as a Powerful Ally in his mission. Not to mention Kong is part of the Ecosystem.
Also for this matter.
Godzilla only kills Problems.
The Mutos were killed because he knew if they reproduced they'd throw the earth into Chaos.
Ghidorah is literally an invasive species trying to take over and reorganize the ecosystem to revolve around themselves.
And MechaGodzilla was the same, a threat with the Will of Ghidorah that only wanted to destroy Godzilla...then who knows what next.
i feel like just godzilla not being the protagonist this time round makes him feel more imposing, he really felt like a king, being a savage when he needed to but also showing respect and mercy

Oh Yeah I Loved When Godzilla Said That Replays In My Head Over And Over. Top Tier Quote.
I loved the way Godzilla wrapped his tail around Kong to pull him down to the depths. First time iv seen him use his tail like that it was awesome
Kong has a serious problem with prehensile tails lol. Think about it, the skull crawlers used their tails to grab him to try and subdue and suffocate him in kong skull island, then in godzilla vs kong godzilla used his tail to subdue him and drag him into the depths and then finally is the hallow earth that dragon like thing wrapped its tail around him and then placed it's wing over his face to suffocate him and in godzilla vs kong both times a tail was used against him he had to be saved by the humans and would have died if they had not intervened.
I think u r forgetting Godzilla 2014 how g man smashed flying muto with his tail
@@AUV97 his comment is still accurate though, while godzilla did use his tail to hit the muto, hitting something with his tail is different than wrapping it around something. Think of it like this, as a human we can use our legs to kick by swinging them with as much force as we can, but we can't really use our legs to grab hold of something and hold it firmly except in a very very limited amount of cases like hanging off monkey bars using the back of our knees or a triangle choke, but that's about it. Same goes for godzilla, just cause he hit the muto with his tail doesn't necessarily mean that he could use it as a way to hold on to things.
Hell yeah that was badass
Same way Ghidorah wrapped Godzilla with his tail and took him to sky and dropped him.

@future_ 7344 Kong landed the more meaningful hits on Mecha even before the axe was charged up. I was 100% team Godzilla but the reality is that an axe wielding Kong looked great against Mecha.
He was just looking for submission. Godzilla isn't a dumb monster he saw that kong was peaceful but had to let him know I'm big daddy.

Yeah exactly Godzilla was trying to tell Kong that "You have to bow down to me. I'm the one you can't defeat"
Despite not having super powers, kong held his own. He is like the batman of the monsterverse.
He was still ready to continue the fight in the end.
Godzilla knew kong wasn't like the other evil monsters, but just wants him away from the city
None of the other monsters are evil. They're all apart of the Earth. They all bring stability to Earth. Ghidorah wasn't from Earth so he was a direct threat to Godzilla, and Godzilla keeps all the Kaiju in check. Whoever the King is , they control all other Kaiju. @@iyanmendoza7261 @Iyan Mendoza Dude..he was basically defeated. Hence why they had Mothra sacrifice herself for him. It's a nuance of the movie. Hero almost dies. Heroine sacrifices herself for him. Hero is reborn. Her sacrifice was what led to him become the movie's version of Burning Godzilla.
I like to think of Godzilla like an old samurai who reluctantly has to come out of retirement time and again to help restore balance. He's not after glory, power or driven by anything other than ensuring the status quo is maintained. When he performs his duty, he is savage, relentless and focuses on what needs to be done no matter the cost or obstacles before him. Truly the GOAT of monsters.
Godzilla is like that one player that chases down that one guys that attacked him once just once until he was dead LOL
Godzilla spared Kong both times because he saw him as a worthy adversary and not a threat to the planet. Plus he was sensing the mecha Godzilla and that was his real target.
Also if you watch the end when king drops the axe godzilla roars at the axe pauses then roars at kong. 100 percent a sign of respect
Never noticed that but that’s a great catch! Everyone is saying that Kong is submitting at the end but to me it looks more like a truce. Why would Kong just quickly submit RIGHT AFTER standing up grabbing his axe and roaring?
The point they made in the movie and the point of Kong’s entire story arch is that he “bows to no one” so Kong isn’t just going to submit to save his life like the kaiju in KOTM.
I feel Goji fans are trying to push this too far, and they won’t let a clear win be enough. The director said there is a clear winner, he never said that “one will submit” lol. In my mind, neither of them submitted, but they were both done at the end. Kong saved Godzilla’s life. Personally, as a Godzilla fan I’ll gladly take the butt whipping by Mecha G in order to leave with a clear victory over Kong in this movie and make retribution for that King Kong vs Godzilla 1962 movie. Lol. Besides Godzilla has defeated other versions of Mecha on many other occasions in several movies. But this movie firmly establishes Godzilla as superior to Kong. A result that we had to wait a long time for. Nevertheless...Kong gains Godzilla’s and therefore most G-fans’ respect and acknowledgment.
It’s simple.... he wanted Kong to submit to him... Kong is another alpha titan. @@j.c.t3617 You don't need to cooperate wiith humans to be earths protector, when did cooperating with humans ever have any correlation to protecting earth, humans themselves are cuasing problems on earth and are somewhat of a possible danger, Godzilla being the keeper of balance and protector of nature and earth is exactly to keep anything like that from happening, so in reality, Godzilla is exactly what earth protector should be, a being who picks no sides to anything on earth, because if the things that live on earth one day decide to take over and disrupt balance than it needs to be dealth with and Kong can't do that, Kong is no where near that level of capability like Godzilla, Kong is the protector of God of Skull Island and it's Protector of it's native people, Godzilla is KTOM and Earths Protector.

To bounce off a previous comment I saw I think another interesting theory is that Godzilla realized that the humans were intentionally trying to protect kong (the depth charges) in a similar way that monarch tried to help Godzilla when possible in the previous movie.
Godzilla may have picked up on this and ultimately deemed kong as not a direct and immediate enemy.
