- We had the Ford Mustang Mach-E for 5 days whilst on holiday in Mallorca. Here's how it went from driving, comfort, performance and then trying to charge it!

I don’t really get angry but, with the way the car industry is going gets me mad! It’s a joke.
I just hope and pray synthetic fuels filter down.

I wouldn't disagree with much of what you've said but aren't you doing the equivalent of driving a Camry and saying "ICE cars have no character"?
There are better versions of this and better EVs than it.
I'm not sure Ford see the Mustang Mach E as a Camry equivalent. I would assume they are positioning as a luxury car. It's quite expensive here in Spain

Speaking about cool cars. Just saw a pimped new BMW 2M - totally overpriced but still one of the last cool cars 😊.
I switched from my Mk3 RS Focus and Alfa Giulia QV to an BMW i4 M Sport EV. The BMW has adaptive suspension and about 335 bph (rear wheel drive). It is not bad in terms of steering feedback and handling. To own a EV, you really need a wall charger at home and off peak electricity tariff. I have never had range anxiety after a month of getting used to regeneration and known charging stations on UK motorways. My wife has a loan Cupra Born, and she has also been happy with range now we have experience. And while it has been sunny, we have charged about 20 kw in a week from our solar panels (about three partially sunny days). As a family we are saving a lot on fuel. The BWM and Cupa (with DCC) are actually fun to drive. My BMW definitely has character, I do like it.
I think that's the key though, fast home charging. Have you used it for long trips? The charging network here in Spain is pitiful to say the least so it's probably better in the UK
@Fezza Correct. You must have a home charger. I've done a return journey of 280 miles and had no issues with finding the two charging stops that gave me plenty of spare range. You should charge to 80% fir most uses and 100% for that occasional long trip. In the UK Wales and Cornwall are very sparse for rapid DC charges.

Hey Mate. Hope your Xmas & New Year all went well. All the best for yourself & family for 2024. A few questions thou.
Electric cars?? Future in them or not? As you know I'm in Aust & we just went through some hot weather. 42c, 43c & 41c. Our power supply company (Western Power) said that their could be power cuts due to the extra demand on power with people getting home from work & turning on high current draw items like Air Cond. Yes there did end up places loosing power.
So what's it going to be like if EV cars do grow & grow. People getting home from work & plugging in their cars to either a 7kw or 11kw charger.
So then all these power company's will have to invest millions upon millions of dollars, pounds, euros in upgrading all their infrastructure to cater for all this power demand. Because don't forget, in summer people will also be turning on Air Conds drawing as much as 15kw + EC charging up to 11kw. So then who is going to be paying for all this infrastructure?? Yep US. The end user.
Then fuel efficient cars of less than 7lt per 100ks could quite be cheaper to run.. It's madness...
Also, if you ever get a chance to drive a Hyundai i20N. Jump at the chance. It will be something I think you will really enjoy.. Cause I'm loving mine..
Hi mate! Good to hear from. Hope all is well. Completely agree with your points....governments are pushing down a route which they haven't quite thought about all of the consequences. I saw an i20N at the weekend for the first time, hadn't seen one before. I commented to my daughter that it's probably a great fun car! Glad you're enjoying yours...I'd love to try one out. Mustang is now a brand. I do like how this looks. Quite a looker for a modern car.
I’d be happy to drive an EV for the daily duties. Gave some, some thought but for now I’m just not ready for one. My current 420d is hardly thrilling.
Hopefully I’ll always have something interesting in the garage and if so then an EV daily will be fine.

its amazing what Ford has done in general with the mach-e but that UI is too laggy for my sanity. It seems to be a stylistic lag rather than a lag lag but I hate it just from watching you switch modes.
Yeah, it was a bit laggy at times. Strange in this day and age, you just don't expect it
Loved your recap of the car, agree completely, but would also add the incredible amount of unnecessary screens in all these cars.. like where are the days when your mom told you a max of 2 hours on the phone per day? Like you can't even open your eyes now without looking at the screen and for such unnecessary things that every sensible person would rather have a physical button for
Completely agree! I hate all these screens...and don't get me started on the bleeping for just about everything when getting in and out of the car 😅

Electric cars will (eventually) be good. But only really as a daily commuting car, and you'll need another internal combustion car to go on holiday with the family, nip to the DIY warehouse or whatever. Which will be fine if you have the money and space. And assuming electricity prices don't continue to skyrocket.
Completely agree with your summary Justin. Yes EV’s are fast, but once you get over the acceleration they’re just plain boring. No surge of power between gear changes, no pops, no noise, no soul. We’re off to Majorca next month - can’t wait! Your hotel looked great 😃

We've had petrol cars forced/imposed on us for decades. I'm done with noise, vibration, exhaust... can't wait for everything to be electric.
