Your tutorials are hands down the best. I'm finding out real quick how tedious an oil change is, I've never seen so many bolts for an oil change in my life lol
thank you for showing me how hard i was getting ripped off at dealer getting charged 250+ tax for oil change lol I will now be doing it myself. Appreciate all the vids .
The underpanel is simple to take off and is designed for aero as the air travels beneath the car. The real issue is finding a jack/method to get under the front of the car since it sits so low 😂
@@GTContent Meh, mines bagged, I just apply air lol But on a serious note, they make low profile jack ramps that help. You drive the car on top of them giving you room to slide a jack under the vehicle. They also make jack stand weld puck adapters for the body seems so your not crushing them.
Just saw a Lamborghini oil change. 8 oil drain plugs!!!. I would never buy a Lamborghini even if I had the cash. Nissan GTR is my sports car dream and I like doing my own maintenance. Seems like a great car, and a step up from my Subie WRX.
A note about drain plug washers, you can reuse the steel and rubber one you chose once or twice as long as you check it (I also like these), and copper or aluminium ones are great, but replace them everytime, i recommend never using the nylon ones, they ALWAYS squish and will leave the drain plug loose after a couple of thousand km, only use if nothing else can be found, but recheck every thousand km. Good video.
2016 version has no oil drain lid anymore, so the splash cover always needs to be uninstalled. The official interval is 6k, but I use mobil one filter, it should be good for a whole year with
Very helpful video bro. I've been taking my 2014 GTR to the Nissan dealership for oil changes but im sick of paying $200+ CAD. I'm going to do it myself this time!
Great content and I'm now subscribed 👍 I'm due my first service on my new 2018 GTR and after watching this I will definitely change the oil and filter myself. Nissan is asking for £250.
2000 miles oil change interval seems pretty low for a fully synthetic EO. but hey if you have the time and money to do the oil change, more power to you :)
Thanks! It's approximately 5 and 1/8th quart of oil. I buy two 5 quarts and save the remaining 7/8th for the next oil change (Also purchase another 5qt for the next one too).
That oil pan bolt washer is call a crush washer. When tightened it gets crushed or “deformed”. It’s a single use item, replace with a new one at every oil change. The washer with the rubber O ring can’t be tightened too tight or the rubber rips and you’ll ha be a leak. Use crush washers!
What is the purpose of the small oil drain plug shield? Is it there only for the option of changing the oil without a filter change, like change the oil every 2,500 miles and the filter at 5,000 intervals(where the enter larger shield is taken off for filter and drain plug access)? Anyone any have thoughts ? To me the smaller oil drain plug access shield serves zero purpose, since you still do not have access to the oil filter.
Never experienced any burnt oil. I've changed my oil every 2,000-3,000 miles though. Typically if I see on the dipstick that it's dark or has a strong fuel smell.
Why use 0w 40? Can I use that on my G37x sedan? It was recommended 5w 30. If I use 0w 40 will it beneficial for my engine? Non turbo and non supercharge.
Jay Sirichan It's what the factory recommends for this car. Each car's tolerances and materials may be different and also the conditions it's designed for, hence why all cars don't use the same oil weights. You can use it, but there may not be any gain.
@1:54 hey man! i lost 1 plastic cap seal any idea where i can get them? or what is the real name of it. If you can help me it would be greatly appreciated. thank you!
Looks as easy as its always been on Nissans which is a plus, but the angle of the oil filter, a Nissan trademark as well, is not a plus, guarantee some spills.
It almost makes me cringe seeing a Purilator and Mobil1 put into a GTR. Even if it is the Euro blend Group4. Consider going to Napa and getting their Napa Gold oil filters. They are made by Wix, and very good quality. Not as good as the K&N, but certainly better than that Purilator. While you are there you can also look at the Eneos 0-40 oil. It is also Group4 full synthetic, but has better viscosity stability and sheering resistance to Mobil1. Eneos is the only over the counter full synthetic I will run in the track car or rally car. Specialty oil wise I will either use Amsoil, Redline, or Royal Purple. And I use Eneos 0w-20 in all my dailies. I personally haven't run it, but I have also heard good things about the Castrol Euro Formula synthetic. As it is also a true Group4, and not a blend.
WINNING The car was not designed to run on Mobile 1. Manufacturers have deals with oil companies which is why they specify a certain brand not because it's the best for the car. Amsoil and Motul outperform Mobile 1, look up the data sheets on those oils and you will see that they have better shear stability than Mobil 1.
Cut and pasted from the owners' manual: "Mobil 1 (0W-40) (100% synthetic) is the factory fill oil. The VR38 engine with its plasma-sprayed bores was developed using this oil." So it appears the car WAS designed to run on Mobil 1.
Great, Now All I Need Is a GT-R
LOL

Go watch lamborghini huracan, 8-9 oil panel bolts, plus floor

your GTR oil and transmission changing videos saved me some $$$.thanks Gary.
Awesome! Glad I could help another GTR owner out in the community.
I feel like Nissan purposely made removing the under panel difficult to persuade people into going to the dealership.

Jatinder Khangura You should! It's easy. Lmk if you have any other questions.
Thanks for the video - getting the lower shield back on was a pain ;)
Great content and I'm now subscribed 👍

i don't even own a GTR, yet I'm watching this

It's cheaper to change oil that wear out the turbo / internals of the engine.
love this channel its like saying.. how it feels to own a R35 documentary keep it up and more DIY on d GTR!
More GTR videos coming 😀
wow your garage is clean... i want gtr too...
+Jay Thanks
Get working on it 😁
Your videos are very helpful I'm picking up my 2016. On Wednesday. Quick question, what the total amount of oil you put in your gtr?
Thanks!
It's approximately 5 and 1/8th quart of oil. I buy two 5 quarts and save the remaining 7/8th for the next oil change (Also purchase another 5qt for the next one too).
Hey Gary, Thanks for the excellent video. I followed it to the tee and everything went as planned. 👍🏻
Awesome! Glad it worked for you.
I was too jealous to watch the entire video, you lucky bastard !, I gave you a like merely for your taste in cars !
On CBA you have to remove the front lip as well :) i just did my oil change
Thanks again my friend. Going to do this right now. Does CBA have have the the maintenance in the software? Mine is all in Japanese haha.
Great, informative video. Is there any benefit to having different intervals for oil and filter? Thanks.
Not much. I'd just change them out at the same time. It's easy and cheap enough.
GT, time to do a video about the breaks! it's easy but why not! along with the best options available for it.
I've been meaning to, but my brakes are still good. Maybe do a video about brake pad and rotor options?
Man, this is just as easy as my Subaru. I'm surprised it's that straight forward.
Thanks for the upload! Is there a specific toque that I should tighten the oil filter to? Thank you :D
No torque. Just make sure it's tight enough not to leak.

@0:39, it seems like you're out of your typical on screen persona haha. Great vid though!
😂
Will this work with a white gtr?
😂
I can confirm that the process is a tad bit different.
😂
LMFAO😂😂😂😂😂

That is what I believe also. It serves no purpose for me because I always do a full service since I'm already down there.
Very informative video.....👍👍👍👍👍😎
+Del2012 You're welcome.
There is still some oil inside the cooler....
How is it removed???
That is a top video, thank you for uploading!
Wait do you have to change the oil every 2000 miles? What does the manufacturer recommend?
I think the FSM states 6mo/6,000 miles. Changing at 3,000 miles just gives you piece of mind that the oil isnt too contaminated.
did you notice if it burn more oil than what you put in or its the same about in and out? and do you use FULL synthetic or just synthetic ?
Never experienced any burnt oil. I've changed my oil every 2,000-3,000 miles though. Typically if I see on the dipstick that it's dark or has a strong fuel smell.
Great video.
+Gtrmats1 Thanks
Is there any factory problems with GTRs ?
Weren't you suppose to measure from the hole on the dipstick? Serious question
Do you think the 5w30 oil is better than 0w40
0w40 is the recommended oil for a stock GTR.
I'm thinking about getting a gtr currently have a 2016 Nissan 370Z what year you recommend the best year to get for a gtr bro
2012+
Alex Flores yep definitely 2012+
Thank you very much
Thanks for the video!!!!
Can you do the transmission fluid as well?
Just saw your other video in the recommended.😂👍🏻
Great informative video
Great video thanks for sharing
nicely done
Do you think a gtr would make a good daily?
People have daily driven the GTR with no issues. Just be prepared for the maintenance when time comes $$$$$.
how imperative is it to jack up the back as well?
It helps out by giving more space and level.
Why use 0w 40? Can I use that on my G37x sedan? It was recommended 5w 30. If I use 0w 40 will it beneficial for my engine? Non turbo and non supercharge.

GT Content ok, I see your point. Thank you.
Why aren't you using OEM oil filter?. I learned in a hard way on not using an OEM filter
What happened?
Thank u🌷
After hearing Guys say they pay $1,200 for an oil change, a GTR is definitely more my lane
😀
In dealer or in our garage 1200$ ?
Why would the oil filter have a setting and a different setting, than the oil change?
Wouldnt it be better to just put 6 quarts ?
you have a tutorial for replacing the candles on your GTR (vous avez un tutoriel pour remplacer les bougies sur votre GTR)
All those bolts for a filter?
This is why I hate under carriage panels. I like how there is a small panel for the oil come on
What about the oem washer in filter?
Replace if necessary. Mine looked good, so I reused mine.
Where. Did u get that. Gtr. Poster. Behind your gtr
+Sonny tbone I found it on Ebay.
Good vid! Better wear gloves for more protection tho

Yes, there's bound to be spills in every oil change.
That copper crush washer should be replaced with a new one each oil change I got a whole bag of them from Amazon. A few bucks.
try to Eneos 0w50
Subscribe!!!...I'm in the market for a used GTR this helps a lot for my decision did u change your breaks already?
No brakes yet. You can check out my "Mythbusted: How much does it cost to own a GTR" video for more expenses.

Will keep it in mind. Thanks
bigbuckoramma don't listen to this guy stick with the Mobil 1
They run this thing around the Ring on a dinky Nissan filter - with Mobil 1. Unless you track the heck out of the car, it will be fine (I own one).

Very 👍
I hope the oil cap under the hood was removed while you were draining the oil
My man, your using the wrong washer for your sump plug lol. Don't you need a crush washer?
Famer 7 correct. Nissan OEM crush washer. About $1 ea from dealer.
@@garethwatson7422 glad you agree.
$40 in oil Mobil 1 0w-40 euro and a genuine Nissan filter $15.40 with washer . Then follow these instructions .
Dude one jack stand fails ... and it’s all overs... u should have subsidiary safety
Anyone else ocd act up when he set the oil at 2k and the filter at 3k
All that work to remove the under tray. Aight, imma head to a service center.
His hair 🤣🤣🤣🤣 looks like a mop on his head that's about to fall off lol
Gary is a pretty little girl.
What does Nissan and Infinity vehicles have in common?... They all use the same filter lol.

What do u do for a living if you don't mind me asking? U don't have to answer the question directly, you can give hints lol
I studied manufacturing in college and have been in the manufacturing environment for a while now.
If you have to ask... you can't afford it =)
Yay first
Thanks for the video. Message me if you want a discount on paint for your Garage. I work at Dunn Edwards.
