I will never accept being on call. As an employee, you should set your limits. People let companies decide their lives. Don't let them do that; quit and find something better.
Agreed on setting your limits. On-call shouldn't be mandatory but if you're well compensated and you voluntarily agree to be on-call then I think it can be a win-win.
