Umm, I don't know if we should tell this guy that Martian part refers to John and not the people he hunts or not.
I hope that Death Battle reveals more about Martian Manhunter's background. Him accidentally getting teleported to Earth and accidentally giving the scientist a heart attack was just the tip of what he endured before becoming a member of the Justice League. Losing his entire family, and believing that he's the last of his kind is just the tip of the iceberg.
One of the only two men Superman will openly admit to being afraid of. Martian Manhunter is not to be underestimated.
He's certainly powerful, but I seriously question his ability to stand up to surfer; Dude can level whole solar systems.
Who is the other person that Superman is afraid of?

For those majority out there unfamiliar with Martian Manhunter, the Green Martian race are telepathic beings that are polymorphic down to the cellular level, which is where all those other powers come from. Being a from an entirely telepathic race J'onnz's name has no correct verbal pronunciation. The reason he often times has such a pronounced brow is because he thinks cavemen are neat and despite not being bot being able to emote very well J'onn is an absolute sweetheart, even compared to the other leaguers. And lastly, the sigh of fire just sort of short outs martian brains.
*Fun fact:* There's a pretty funny JLI story that perfectly shows how extremely dangerous J'onn can get if he doesn't eat his Oreos. One day, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle decide to troll the Martian by getting rid of all the Oreos in town, thus preventing him from eating his favorite snack. This situation causes J'onn to suffer severe withdrawal symptoms, which end up turning him into a mindless monster that destroys everything in his path until the members of JL send him to a factiry full of Oreos to calm him down. I think it's not necessary to say that Booster and Beetle's prank didn't improve their popularity...

Martian Manhunter is undoubtedly one of the most tragic heroes in history. He literally witnessed his entire species being cruelly enslaved and eradicated, and yet he never gave up and did everything he could to protect the Earth from suffering the horrible same fate, no matter how cruel and wicked the human race could get. The respect we all have for him should be INFINITE

Only thing I know for certain is Silver Surfer is definitely faster than MMH. Guy can fly to the edges of the universe in the same time it takes to go to the mailbox outside your home. A major aspect of this fight is whether or not The Surfers Mental resistances/powers are powerful enough to contend with Man hunters, cause while he’s as strong as Superman his most dangerous abilities are his psychic powers hands down.
Speeds actually closer, J’onn scales to Wonder Woman who has the shattered god feat, as well as reacting in Planck times.
@@seanao32 if we’re going that route then how about the fact that SS has kept up with Thor and defeated Beta Ray Bill in 1v1 combat and we all know how fast Thor is with the speed feat he received in Thor vs Vegeta.

I imagine Surfer can resist MM's mental powers, as he has a number of mental resistance feats, including one time when he was able to keep his mind closed to the powerful telepath Moondragon while she was using the Mind Stone.
MM will try to scramble SS mind with tp. Surfer will turn mm's mind into scrambled eggs.
Martian Manhunter and Silver Surfer will have a field day of talking about philosophies.

that aside, this seems like an incredibly interesting battle. Martian Manhunter seems strong, but knowing Silver Surfer, who has the Power Cosmic, is a Herald of Galactus, and can drive an opponent into the core of a star and survive it's explosion, I think this could be a well-balanced fight.
Honestly this is how I summed it up
Martian Manhunter is a being who is considered by Superman to be his equal, and his one weakness is Fire. His opponent has the power cosmic, which can best be described as Cosmic Fire power.

Sure, this is another Marvel vs DC match up and quite soon after the last one, but... Silver Surfer and Martian Manhunter are pretty damn cool. The Power Cosmic is practically Marvel's Speed Force, so Martian Manhunter isn't winning this fight. Speaking of, I would like to see a Power Cosmic vs Speed Force episode someday - both are broken beyond belief to the point where I have no idea how you would even determine which one is more powerful.
I love Martian Manhunter a lot but putting him against the Silver Surfer is doing John Jones dirty, honestly not even many connections considering how the Silver Surfer is chosen

Martian Manhunter is one of the most powerful superheroes in DC. His telepathy has effect beings like Surfer before and he’s as physically strong as Superman

I think this match-up can have awesome fun ideas and moments in fight animation. Also the new Rooster Teeth intro is cool even tho I prefer the pervious one.
Admittedly, I didn't know that J'onn had quite the healing factor, or was easily able to weasle his way out of Green Lantern constructs or even force fields that stopped Superman. That could make things a bit difficult for the Silver Surfer in context of the full fight, unless he's able to reduce the Martian Manhunter to ash/absolute nothingness.
Also, I think we can all agree that this match-up might be represented by the star, and the fight following this represented by the question mark.

This is going to be an interesting matchup. The Martian Manhunter is terribly underrated and is a heavy hitter in the DC universe. Though less than Superman's, his strength level is significant enough to match most of the Justice League's rogues gallery. I can't count out the Surfer, but as we all know, DC heroes are seriously OP.

As overly vestigial martain is he theroretically only has two-three powers, altering himself physically, mind powers and energy manipulation, him altering himself in any way means he can do the invisibility, intangiblity, hardening shapshifting etcetera, if him altering himself includes his own energy that explains his laser eyes, maby he’s just plastic man with an insane amount of knowledge on his own molecular structure and how to manipulate and alter it perfectly.

He technically has some exceptions on his molecular phase shifting. One attempt on a force field generated around Central City by Grodd failed, and he said it must have a multidimensional interface.

Due to fact that the battle involves characters I have already heard about before, but I never thought about the battle between them, it became one of the interesting matches of this season for me.

I had no idea MM could shoot lasers from his eyes, it never came up in any of his appearences in Justice League, Supergirl, Smallville, Young Justice, or ANY movie or TV show he happened to be in. @@JohnDanielRay1 fire and lasers are two different things, fire is a hot gas that glows from blackbody radiation, lasers are coherent beams of light that might not necessarily even be hot (they only heat up an object if that object absorbs light)

Everything I've learned about him today definitely brings him a step up in my mind (I figured him vs SS would be a one-sided slaughter) after only knowing him constantly getting Worfed back in DCAU Justice League
It makes a lot more sense once you realise the _reason_ he kept getting Worfed was because he could win most fights from his living room couch while still watching TV, if he was actually allowed to use his full potential. I'm honestly not even sure if I'm exaggerating or not, since he's *literally* "what if Superman but also psychic shapeshifter".

To be fair, Surfer isn't even close to the scale of Galactus, but even with his piddly-wink sliver of the power cosmic he still exists pretty comfortably in the realm of "Do whatever you want" power.

A can recover from a finger. B can deconstruct things down to the atomic level (possibly further). A can shapeshift into anything similarly sized. B has weird cosmic senses that let him pick out lifeforms despite such things from space. A can fly at supersonic speeds. B can do intergalactic flight in days.

While J'onn is powerful seriously this member of the JL has shapeshifting, regeneration aka a decent healing factor, density manipulation aka he can turn intangible as a ghost, or as hard as the hardest materials in the DC Multiverse/Omniverse along with his own version of Superman's Heat Vision, super-strength, and flight, is strong enough to take on Superman, and is one of the most powerful telepaths. He's screwed as thanks to the Power Cosmic the Silver Surfer has those powers and more.
Yet he gets clocked by Black Panther...

At this point, after how long fans have been saying that "Batman can do anything if you give him enough prep time", DC's just _running_ with it. They established that he had a lot of prep time ("long ago"), and used the fact that it's _Batman_ to take a concept that's so completely and utterly absurd, and make it perfectly plausible. Of _course_ he mined the moon, he's Batman! They're having a lot of fun with the idea.
Side note, I love that you pronounced the J in J'onn J'onzz correctly, many pronounce it like a J, but it's actually pronounced like ZH, so kddos for that
