I haven't listened to this song in SO long... My dad loved Collective Soul and he got me to love it. :) But then I started listening to other music. But Twilight made me love it again! :)
Y'all can hate me all you want but the current line up of Collective Soul (Ed, Dean, Will, Jesse and Johnny) are the absolutely best. Different... but bands need to evolve. It's important to change. Ross is talented, but doesn't deserve to be back in Collective Soul. He wrecked Ed and his family. I have personally met the entire (current) band, and their families, and Ed's wife Michaeline twice and Ed's son Lindsey. They are wonderful, sweet people and to think that many years ago, Ed's family was fucked by his own band member and friend is just... messed up. Y'all need to stop saying, "I wish he was back in the band". If you actually knew these guys, you would see they are faaaaar better without him. I had the privilege to sit and talk with Ed for 20 minutes this year. It's on my page. I would never want to see Ed suffer again. He is extremely positive, loving, and kind. I also know folks who know Ross and say the same thing about him. My point is... Ed and Ross just aren't a thing anymore. They are better off apart. If you wanna support Ross, comment on his stuff. But for the love of god, just accept the band has changed and move on. Don't like it? Boo hoo. Don't think they're the same? Oh well. Bands gotta change. We all do. Let it go and enjoy these moments for what they are and stop the goddamn negativity.
I feel the original lineup was the best because that’s when they made their best music in my opinion. I do like the current lineup though, and as you say, things change. Most bands go through lineup changes. It happens. I do hope they keep this lineup. I’m not sure I could handle another one. Haha
@@langdonalger9219 When it comes to the music, it's ALL good! Every member ever in Collective Soul kicked ass! But compatibility-wise, the current lineup is the true Collective Soul family. They're meant to be. Ed has said so himself. And I am 99% sure they are the final line up. Like I said, I met them intimately and know some of their friends very well, and they are VERY much so brothers. Ed says they actually enjoy each other's companies and don't even need a break from each other (they do it anyways to stay healthy though)
I have the Home DVD! and I've seen it a hundred times, and still unconvinced. Obviously, you haven't been watching collective soul since 1994. I have tons of their live performances. Better know who you're talking to. Joel Kosche was Ross' guitar tech for 8 years! Know your facts before you comment, coz nobody here agrees with you.
I disagree, jasonism123. It is very true, Ross Childress was a great member of the band, a great guitarist, a good singer and a wonderful songwriter, but that doesn't mean that they are completely lost without him. Don't get me wrong, Ross is amazing, and the band isn't the same without him, but I think Joel Kosche can hold his own. True, Afterwords wasn't their best album, but it was very solid, something they weren't really able to do since their second album.
Nice, the guitar Ross is playing is still around, I held it and took photos of it at his last local gig. man, its beat up...the pick up select switch is broke also. But it still sounds great! I keep telling him that I will fix it but I think he likes it as it is. Meh, he's a rockin guy!
why are you concern about who writes the better song? What's the purpose of Ed Roland who is a great lyricist? Joel was given an opportunity by Ed to record a song for contribution. We're talking about guitar prowess here, not song writing ability. Ross is the man! Joel is not even close to him. Better listen to Starfish and Coffee that's Ross' new band. nuff said.
Dosage is my favorite STUDIO album. Home is a Live album, and is my favorite album of all time. Oh, and Joel's solo in the live version of Better Now is awesome.
CSoul without Ross Childress is like AC~DC w/out Angus or Zeppelin without Page. It makes me sad that the band lost the likes of Ross and Shane, but people have to move on with their lives. CS will never be the same for me. BTW thanks for sharing this vid.
From my understanding...there is a VERY good reason Ross and CS had to part ways, but he is an incredible guitar and musical talent and I would give anything to play half as well as he does. The new lead guitarist "Joel" is also amazing.
collective soul's songs are now more pop-related. I miss the old school rock.. Tell me if you've heard of a nice guitar solo (from any songs) from Joel since he came aboard? none. I have nothing against him, but he is just not on the same league with Ross. Not even close. But the lyrical content of their recent albums are still great, because of Ed. Riff wise? never the same.
Yeah, I think I heard him try his hand at singing. Needless to say, as the incredible lead guitarist he is, it was what was expected. Kinda like when Keith Richards does his one song at a Stones concert. He needs to get with a big act, like maybe Prince or something, and do some composing and lead guitar for him. His licks would be worth the money for sure.
LoL, I've been listening to them since I was six years old pal. I have every single album and song. For you to say that CSoul sucks without him, or that CSoul is at loss without him is a god damn travesty upon these artists. And yes, I know Joel Kosche was his tech, hmm...perhaps that says something about his own talent ey? I don't think anyone here agrees with YOU sir.
A huge component of the band--and without him they are seemingly nothing IMHO. I'll never forget watching them opening for Creed and wondering why it wasn't the other way around. I'll also never forget watching them play in a country western bar (yeah both kinds) wondering why that type of venue. I can just imagine RC getting fed up at some point out of frustration. I truly hope he finds a band where his guitar skills will 'shine' again.
Look at Ed Roland-physically now-AFTER Childress was kicked out for fooling around with Roland's wife. Ed Roland cut his hair, bleached it blonde-so he NOW resembles Childress! Even More than his former self. Rockers change appearances all the time-but compare Childress at 2:32 and Roland's appearance-now. He cut his hair the Same Length--Same Color! Ed Roland now has the physical identity of the guy who stole his woman. That affair must have messed with his head something terrible. So so sad.
Badass solo.
COllective Soul ROCKS!!!
Y2K! 🕛🥳🎉🎊🍾
Amazing finger tips
Ross childress
miss Ross Childress. He's the real soul of this band
I didn't get caught up in the whole Twilight thing, but they reintroduced the world to this song so it's all good.
The era of ross
cant....stop....watching.....arhhh!
Ha ha! The sound guy barely has Ed's guitar in the mix! This probably pissed Ed off later. Ross overwhelmed the stage.
I haven't listened to this song in SO long...
My dad loved Collective Soul and he got me to love it. :)
But then I started listening to other music.
But Twilight made me love it again! :)
Prolly theeee most underrated solo and one of the most underrated shredder!!!! Ross is the Dude!!!
he's with Starfish and Coffee..he sings as well..they need a good singer..Ross doesn't sing as good as he plays guitar..but he's amazing.
I totally agree..Ross was the band's creative machine!!!
I agree, that man is totally overlooked when it comes to the 90s rock era
I agree..Ross all the way!
I didn't realize that is song was that old. Well the Twilight soundtrack brought them back.
Although Dosage remains my favorite studio album by them, my favorite of their albums is Home. The musicianship is outstanding.
ross rock out hard
estoy de acuerdoooooooooo
@shep79
yes. you said that already.
not much. he's got his own small gig now called Starfish and Coffee.
He tears up i can see. Did anyone else noticed him gulping at least 2 or 3 times?
no idea. although he DID appear at Collective Soul's induction to the Georgia Rock and Roll HOF. still wearing that damn knit beanie :P

0:37 - 040 better than Michael Jacson's "moonwalk"
ED ROCKS!!! :)
Ross is one of the most underrated modern guitar heros what is he doing now?
He's in his solo band called 2 broke kings
Ross was kicked out for "personal reasons", there's not really even any rumors about Shane. He just up and left.
man i love ross he gave them that futuristic rock sound, something i dont hear with the new lineup which just does the classic rock thing.

shane evans very underrated and very missed what is he doing nowadays?
@EDWINRULES1 i've got 29,997 on the count here.
but i didn't realise it had that many views. why don't the other vids get any love? :(
Ross looks so cool!! the best!!.. now Collective Soul is just half the talent they used to be! We miss you Ross!!
I disagree, jasonism123.

huh? I'm now confused, so which is one your favorite album? read your text.

@MrBip2012
Sorry, that was when I actually liked Twilight
Before I got good taste in movies. (;
@shep79
I wouldn't go so far as to call it terrible, but I must admit it's rather lackluster.
From my understanding...there is a VERY good reason Ross and CS had to part ways, but he is an incredible guitar and musical talent and I would give anything to play half as well as he does. The new lead guitarist "Joel" is also amazing.
ROSS Eres lo máximo, el mejor sin ti collective ya no es lo mismo
The dancing is a bit much, but the rest of it was great.

dean's guitar does not even sounds!!! 😂😂
He's just the "pretty boy"... plus Mom made Ed give him a gig. ;')

Tp
Took eds wife
Ross co-wrote "The World I Know"... Enough said...
Ross > Joel. FACT
Joel's song is nothing to write home about. I much prefer Ross's.
Look at Ed Roland-physically now-AFTER Childress was kicked out for fooling around with Roland's wife. Ed Roland cut his hair, bleached it blonde-so he NOW resembles Childress!
