- YOOOO I finally did it!! Haha here's 32 minutes of pure scratch nerd talk for y'all :-)
Enjoy and please let me know how you like it! Definitely going to do a beatjuggle tutorial next :-)
Follow me on instagram/twitter @dopez1200 Видеоклипы
You are one of the best scratchers of all time. I’d say the most creative
Just so mesmerized by it all......... hahaha brilliant! This video has me glued to the decks now lol
Nice one for doing this video, man! I'm just getting back into scratching after 5 years off and this is really interesting and massively useful. Sick cuts!
Awesome, looking forward for the beatjuggle tutorial.
Great tutorial. Thank you. Those whips are like the secret sauce of dope scratching style!
Sick dude. This vid is like fate bro, just started scratching like 6 months ago (32 years young), played metal guitar my whole life. Just today got Gag Ball Breaks in the mail, search "scratch tutorial" on the tube and randomly pick this video. The sounds are sounding a bit too familiar lol. What are the odds! But your skills are off the Chain dude, amazing sequences, sick pocket, truly stellar. Thanks for sharing the wisdom!
Cheers,
DJ K Don't Play
Damn Son.... Lol... Awesome video homeslice, Man, its great to meet you, you got mad skills, & its always great to watch & learn from these dope videos, definitely been helping me in certain ways, so I appreciate these videos more than people realize. Peeps like you, make it possible for peeps like myself, to learn & get better, it's priceless actually. Its kinda funny, I've always turned off the bass, on my scratch vinyl, when practicing, & it sounds like I was doin the rite thing, plus, I agree that to much bass on the scratch end of things can cause alot of unwanted, & uneeded distortion, & vibrations. But I had wondered if I should leave a little bass in there on the scratch end of things. Good stuff bro, Much Respex, & Big Upz, & Mad Love to Dopez, & all the passionate Skratch DJs...... 🔥💯👍💪🎶🎛️🌎
Damn, it’s been a while. Big fan of the skills and the spirit of sharing!!!
I thought you disappeared of youtube like Yoshi!!! So glad you’re back!!!
Awesome one! 🤓🙏
Thank you !! I def look up to Yoshi as his tutorials were crazy helpful too ! Don't think I'm as skilled as him since he can cut all four ways !!
Glad ur back. Like a breath of fresh air, peace
Thank you :-))))
Good stuff David. Thanks for the posting.
DOPE style carnal.. keep rockin' steady G
My Hero
Thank god. Been missing these
YAY! You back!
been scratching last 15 years killing lows. Thanks for that tip!
I wish you creative inspiration and success.
i have been scratching for some years now. watching your videos have helped me improve my skills. you have had some of the best tutorials for some time now. keep it up bro!
Appreciate it, glad I could help :-)
DOPEZ hey thank you for taking the time to put out constructive tutorials on the the art of scratch. alot of cats like to display thier skills in videos rather then break down the techniques that it takes to become a good scratch dj. but anyways you and swiftstyle should colaborate to create a dope scratch record that would be divine. 😎
Finallyyyy yeeees, thanks!!!!
Thanks for the awesome tutorial, dude!
Mad respect thanks for the helpful tips
Good advise on the Eq, Bass and importance of frequencies in samples.
Dope cuts salute you from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Okay okay I'm a DJ old school DJ I was introduced to turntables around 1982 and I've recently decided to get into the digital Realm DJ or should I say turntablism and by far since I've been watching videos since the mid-90s introduce the DVS systems you have the best DJ learning scratch tutorial I ever seen I've been hearing this SCRATCH and couldn't get it because of the teachers and I couldn't match the sound with the visual hand movement, but you nailed it 😎🎚PEACE facts with..#THX
Love the skratch nerd talk. I'm always trying to learn something new and it's great that you break down a lot of different things. Keep putting these up. One thing I seem to struggle with right now is how to execute the 2 click flare on the fader. It would be great to hear your thoughts on that. It's possible that you've dissected that at some other point, that I just haven't seen yet.
Update: It's 5 years later, and my 2 clicks are solid. Now, the cuts you are doing in this video are much easier for me to understand and pick up.
This helped ALOT!! Thanks man. Make more videos!
YES!!!!!!!
Dude your a monster tanks for the intel
🤯 incredible 🤯
Hey Dopez - please make a video on different techniques on scratch drumming, specifically the drum/bass kick and snares. I saw you do one tutorial on scratch drumming and it was dope. I do a lotta club work and thought I'd get some practise in by drum scratching on every different song I'd play.
thanks for your teaching and inspirational videos, I'm just learning to scratch
Roman Ershov welcome to the world of scratch. disicipline, time and dedication is what it takes to try and master the skill. i been scratching for years and i will still allways be a student of scratch. keep working at it and one day you shall find your zen. scratch on!
i just covered the whole hamster style thing with rolling crabs last week on facebook live said the exact same stuff .. thats awesome ... great
stuff
Super dope homay, thanks for sharing the knowledge Dopez and dope ox flare variations and sick transformerz. All around still sick, sall about the staccato style mi lad respect. Hope we can cut again real soon pz. -H
Amazing!
This and all your videos have been and continue to be very helpful, I was curious at what speed your playing the record? pitch and rpm wise?
Great tips!!
Awesome!
Absolutely amazing to me how much is done with your left hand and and not with the fader. I was heavy in the scene like 15 years ago (was never near as good as you though) and I am just now getting back into it thanks to portablism. (I don't have a lot of room for a full set up anymore.) I'm pretty good at cutting, but I'm trying to play catch up with you guys with all the record manipulation stuff, very challenging for me to learn... But I'm just glad to be scratching again, I forgot how much fun and how therapeutic it is. Thanks for keeping things fresh ;)
Im the same dude, i got a pto1 after ten years out the game..All my cuts are closed fader apart from the 1 and 2 click flare.
Im ok with the vinyl hand, its trying to get my head around cutting with the fader open and my muscle memory kicks back in and end up doing my old scratches.....Frustrating, but theraputic like you said.
Keep cutting bro!
@@Pablo-yi9ox same here my dude. As I get older I had less and less time to get in the lab. As a result my tables, mixer etc were sitting in the garage collecting dust. Then I bought a PT01 and that woke the sleeping giant in me. I recently dusted off the tables and after new needles and a mixer I'm back! I'm rusty though trying to tighten things up. DJs don't die we just hibernate!!
@@DJWildstyle7997 Big up bro great to hear that , keep chopping!
How many ppl at home have their phone plugged into their mixer and enjoying the clinic with master Dopez aka David Lopez;) He is one of those few scratch dj who really has a unique and killer sound of their own and a real God given nack for this. Thanks for sharing the milk and honey my friend!
It's wild to me that so many people look to these tutorials !! It's funny because I feel like it's such a loose variation of tutorial since I just ramble a lot with some scratching in between :-) Appreciate the love and I'll try to post more content
fantastic man thanks
I think my neighbours hate me! Lol. Amazing scratching dude. If got a long way to go
yo you're back tho!!!!!!!!! WHAT UP TEACHER

Any tips on getting fast clicks
Really good at them Tears, holy shit, man I struggle with those badly.... Lol... Bahahahaha... Props to that man, thats a tough hand movement too, it feels so uncomfortably awkward when im trying to work on those. Its back, forward, forward... Is that correct, or is it forward, back, back? Thanx man, always appreciate yout videos homie..... 🔥💯👍💪🎶🎛️🌎
Sehr Nice Thank you
Take for posting this tutorial... Would love to have you to do a session at one of our events
DM me on instagram !!
ayee u right
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👊🏾👊🏾
Благодарю дорогой Лопез,очень интересно и познавательно.🤜🤛😌😁
Thank you
Soz DOPEZ!!!
Super DopeZ
Would you consider the whip scratch the same as a tear? If, not, whats the difference, hand movement maybe or sound pitch?
Technically the whip is the same thing as a tear but a tear isn't the same thing as a whip. The tear is done by stuttering the record motion backwards similar to a whip but you're not doing it with the up and down fist motion that the whip uses, it's more of using your wrist/arm instead of just the hand if that makes sense. Sonically the whip creates a tighter sound for sure.
DOPEZ I hear what you're saying. Thanks for the input, keep up the good work!
Awesome....I would like to see a rowdy funk mix just cutting it up mixing in the 70s 80s funk...george Clinton......and gotta sneek in Africa bambaata...
😁😁😁🙌🙌🙌
Every video of yours has a different mixer 😂 I'm trying to find a decent mixer just to practice on. My Rane 56 is in storage. I miss her.
Exactly, I use my bass when cutting certain samples. They don't sound right without it.
Sup Dopez just checking some of your tuttorials. The open close before the california rolls are called Fuitas...Check The Ever Tuttorial, Old school issh
You going to b on dmc 2018 ?
My regional is in like a week but I haven't made a set yet.. don't think I'm going to battle lol I feel like there's always politics involved with judges giving the win to the hometown talent :-( It's all good I'll probably enter other battles
ちょーうまい
scrachrecord name please!

D-styles - Gag Ball Breaks :-)

How do you get those clicks so fast?....Is there an exercise to get those clicks lightning fast?
How many hours per day for how many years do you have to practice to get those whips and 2 and 3 clicks down like that? Un fucking believable your speed...
😢😭😢😭 pas de Sous-titres possible, i'm French
Wow! Scratching a record. Irritating! Garbage.
f**k off
Ala birdie! Lol! Take it easy bro it's just an opinion.
@@rachelgonzalez5347 u have no clue
@@fedobeatz it's just out of musical groove you know what I'm saying. If it doesn't move people from within, it's garbage. Can't dance, sing, harmonize to that. No thank u.
@@rachelgonzalez5347 scratching is pure music... u are totaly wrong here...go listen to your david guetta bullshit or whatever u prefer
Amazing scratching but not a tutorial. Just showing off which is fine but don't call it a tutorial. Wrong camera angle for start and no coaching.
shabaz I love showing off
f**k off shabzi wapzi
