Thanks for the great show guys, it is sad that Newlands is at the end of the road and we will not hear that famous Newlands Roar again, but like what was said during the show, it's the people that make the stadium and the famous Newlands Roar will hopefully establish as the Cape Town Roar. I have memories from Newlands stretching back to the 60's when my Dad used to take me with and I used to play around the standing area at the bottom of the grand stand, that was before I even understood rugby. Then in the 70's I had my first cigarette as a young teenager sitting at the top of the north stand. Always had a dream to play for WP which never came to a reality, but still a WP supporter, WP jou lekka ding!!
Still cant believe we gonna loose the grand old stadium. Im a die hard WP supporter.. some great memories over the years..live and on tv..braaing outside on the grass before games etc.. and being pickpocketed once lol on the pickard stand (i can laugh now about it)... WP Jou lekka ding..
Guys this was excellent keep it up and don't stop the "Don't laugh challenge" it makes for some great moments especially the off the cuff remarks after haha. Great stuff boytjies.
Hi guys, great show, thank you. I have a great memory as a supporter in PE. After party at Brooke's hill with supporters and players. Always been an avid Sharks support, suck it up! Andre Venter and Ollie all knew me from the other events. Percy came up to me in front of my boyfriend and Ollie was standing chatting and said if he gave me a hug would I change my support to WP. Ollie's response was profound! Herchelle and the guys had just been bust for the dube issue, Robbie was DJ'ing and put on some reggae, decided to tell us all how you were all angels and would NEVER get caught with dube!
Love this episode guys. I've been a regular at newlands, however from about 2004 till about 2013 we hardly missed a game. Standing in the grandstand was the ultimate. Going to miss it, and like schalla said, the unique smells.
In 2014 I had the privilege of attending 2 matches at Newlands South Africa v Australia and Western Province v Griquas. Sadly, I never had the privilege of watching a Currie Cup Final. In 1989 I had my first ever holiday to Cape Town. I paid Newlands a visit and bought a Western Province Centenary rugby tie for display in my Rugby Museum. Memories are made of this.
I cut my teeth on rugby, as a school boy sitting on the edge of the field for both French and English(or Lions) tests, back in 70-71. That was a close as I came to ever being on the field, but the loss of Newlands is sad indeed!!

Brilliant episode, but one comment about the use it or loose it at the scrum, actually WP were the 1st and only SA team to be ever blown for that by Jaco Payper a few years back.

Nothing said about the incompetence of WP Rugby that has forced them to this point. They owned Newlands, but will rent CT Stadium.
