For those who had issues on the registry editor enable both registry editor on both desktop2 and Windows10 Lab. If this doesnt help go to desktop2 control panel then network, then to network and sharing, advance settings and turn on network discovery.
What worked for me was allowing ICMP requests. Go to Firewall, advanced settings, inbound rules and look for "File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)". Then just right click and enable rule.
@@finjackcen1752 havent keep doing the Labs , would live to have going at it. But after hard reset on pc it would be a bit of hassle to set everything up when I dont have time. But is a great help.
Just in case someone needs this: My remote desktop connection wasn't working to Desktop2 from Desktop1. It was because VirtualBox gave the same MAC addresses to both Desktop1 and Desktop2. Change MAC address for either one and try again. It should work.

remote registry part is giving me a headace, Ive enabled Registry on both computers, remote admin enabled, and both computers part of domain and all these tries to no avail...
An even better fix is to go to windows defender firewall -> Advanced Settings -> Inbound Rules -> Make new rule -> Select Port -> select TCP and specify the port you want to open(in this case port 445) -> click next -> Allow the connection -> make rule name and description and that's it. Try to remote registry again and it'll work.
Hi Kevin, First I'd like to thank you for the time and effort put into teaching IT Tech us inorder to get hand on experience using these home labs. Your knowledge and time are greatly appreciated. I just have a question here, I am using Windows 10 Pro Build 20H2 on my Windows PC to join to my domain server. So far I have followed along and everything works great. However, I am not getting any UAC prompts when I'm trying to change patty privileges to any admin privileges using the helpdesk credentials. Please I need your assistance in getting this sorted out. Thank you again for your time and knowledge in teaching us this hands on experince for IT supports.
Patty will only get prompt with uac if she's a regular user. If she has admin rights. She won't get prompt for anything. You need to check permissions.
@KevtechITSupport Hi Kevin, thank you for the swift response in regards to this. Where should i check for permissions, Is it in the Windows PC or the server ? Thank you
I didn't have Windows Remote Assistance on Windows 10 pro but I had Remote Desktop Connection which basically does the same thing except I didn't see an option to start a chat box. IMO, it's easier to use than Windows Remote Assistance anyways. This is when I was trying to connect from Windows 10 lab to Desktop 2.
Remote desktop won't have a chat box. Two different applications. The other one let's you chat and keep the user connected. Rdp kicks the other person from being connected. Rdp works but it doesn't do the same thing.

Hey Kev, I continued to have issues "remoting in from registry", even after doing the troubleshooting you did. After some quick googling, I disabled the firewall on the destination computer ie. Is there a way to accomplish this without disabling the firewall? Apologies for all the questions. Loving all your videos man, you're the best!
