I guess in the Philippines, they are really family oriented that even if their son or daughter have their own family, they still lives with their parents and taking care of their grandchildren. The songs also means that after their parents hardwork for them, its now payback time for the children to their parents. Taking care of the parents after many years of sacrifices for them

Mama stands for the eyes (mata) and Papa is the feet (paa), together they are the map (mapa) that guides us through life as we become adults . THis song reminds us to give back to our parents while they arel alive and in possession of their faculties so they can still appreciate our acts of gratitude and feel valued for their love and care for us.
"Mapa" is a metaphor in the song. It literally means a map, but they transformed it to mean Ma and Pa and how they guided us through our life's journey. It's very clever how the composer of the song gave us 2 literal meanings of the word 'guide'. Hence the map on the video.

SB19 is from the Philippines and it's part of our culture to give importance to our family (in short, we are family oriented nation) we always put our family first especially our parents before we care for ourselves. And actually, I never stanned any boy or girl groups, not even kpop but SB19 is different. The moment I watched their MAPA Lyric Video, I cried so hard since I really missed my parents back in our province and It's been a years since I visit them due to Covid-19.
I don't have a bias on SB19 since all of them is lovable, talented and good in different ways. So far, my ultimate favorite song of SB19 is MAPA. It so relatable and you can't deny the fact that it can hits you hard the moment you listen to this song.

SB19 has 5 members, Pablo wrote the song and assigned the different parts of the song to each of his bandmates according to their vocal tone and range. The intro was sang by Justine, the second Mama verse was sang by Stell, the first of the Papa verse was sang by Josh, who interestingly grew up raised by a single mother and not knowing his father while the second Papa verse was sang by Ken who was raised by his grandparents growing up while his parents had to work abroad because of poverty. The low voice belongs to Ken and the last verse (MaPa) at the end was Stell's. Lataratara is a lullaby that Pablo says his grandma sang to lull them to sleep.
Latarataratara is like a lullaby to our MA, PA (Mom and Dad) for them to rest for awhile (not really about death) while we as their children to take charge of things to somehow pay back for all their sacrifices. 💙

One of their members (Justin) is also the creative director behind their MVs. The group's leader, Pablo, composed most of their songs, too! Pre debut, they also used to sing for Chinese and Korean audiences. They had to learn Chinese and Korean languages in so short a time, without language tutor at that, it was giving them a lot of breakdowns and reasons to give up. But hey, look at them now!
