My friend's Z was stuck in a parking lot and we couldn't figure it out, your video got me on the right track and made me remember how Audis had the same issue (I'm used to euro vehicles), he was back and forth on the phone with the dealer and the tow truck while I grabbed his keys and crawled under the car, beat the steering lock with my phone and pressed the start button at the same time, then I heard a magical little click, the ignition was on! Absolute life saver! Got that car started in under 5 mins after watching this! For reference we were in the parking lot for about 2 hours trying to get his car started lol
Brilliant!!! I was stranded at night school and had to tow my car home the next morning….. I used a thermostat wire to bypass switch and removed fuse…. Saved myself $800… thank you

Please everyone, if you have an infiniti or nissan, before it catches you out there, put the car in ACC or ON mode while you can at your convenience, and pull the 10 A fuse for it in the battery compartment! If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, get a friend, or your neighborhood mechanic to do it for you (the stealership won't). If you are lucky when it happens, you may be able to bang it back to life and get home or head straight to your mechanic and leave it running and get that fuse pulled. After that, it will be very sketchy if the car restarts. I have heard people getting a few more starts with the banging trick, but eventually, this trick won't work anymore.
@@nawmeanThe "sketchy" part is if you don't pull the fuse and have to rely on banging the box to start the car is what I mean. If you pull the fuse, you never have to deal with this happening in the first place. If the next owner wants the locking "feature" back, just put the fuse back in.
Thank you! The yellow Key Signal light on my dash was on for for over a year until I watched this video. I pulled the Steering Lock fuse & the light finally went off. It’s crazy that multiple mechanics & my local Nissan dealership couldn’t figure that out.

this happened to me yesterday. spent hours on youtube looking for resolution. I tested my battery and showed 12.3V so i took it to autozone. battery had 65% juice only. Got new battery. Then car started up. Today, same key light showed up and Lock position. I replaced the key fob battery and inserted the key into the position so car can relearn key. Car started fine now. Hope that's all. Nissan dealership wants $150 to reprogram key so this will be next step if issue shows up again.
Just had this happen yesterday on my 2009. The yellow key light is on the dash, the car stays in LOCK. I replaced the fob battery...I replaced the car battery....Nothing. I have been tapping and even banging on the steering lockbox and nothing happens. I was about to do the wire trick you show here but that's when I noticed the wheel itself isn't locked in place....I can move it several inches left and right so it doesn't feel locked. Now I'm wondering if maybe its something else. Do you recall if your steering wheel had any play in it?
So I was just able to get it into ACC by putting a sewing needle into the wire harness on the wheel lock mechanism. I put the needle into the harness right where the pink (or maybe it was red) wire goes, then I used a screwdriver to ground it. My gf was in the passenger seat and was able to hit the button and it went into ACC. Pulled the fuse and it started. HT to you and the other video I found to do the needle trick
So did you cut the pink wire to connect to your extra wire? Or did you simply just wrap your wire around your pink wire. I had this issue when i was trying to leave the bank but nothing is working and i have yet to mess with the steering lock system under the steering wheel
@@randyfamoso after following your procedure my car turns on every time. But I'm seen these lights. I have a switch installed to do burn outs maybe it stopped working
My Z wouldn’t want to start today push button is on lock and the key light comes on. I thought the guy at the audio shop that installed my new amp messed up my wires could that be also or no?
Hey! I watched a few videos on this because it happened to me recently and I managed to ground the red/pink wire to turn on the car. The other videos showed turning the car into ACC instead of ON to pull out the fuse and I did… and the light is still on and my Z won’t start unless I ground the wire every time and sometimes it doesn’t even work for a while. Should I put the fuse back in and turn on the car then take it out? I’m lost haha I don’t want to buy a whole new module and Nissan quoted me $2k to replace it 💀
hey so I exposed the pink wire and grounded it but when I tried turning it on it went from "lock" to "On" it skipped "Acc" can I still take out the steering lock fuse? I also tried turning on the car by pushing the clutch but it doesn't let me it just goes on "On" mode

What do you mean "After that, it will be very sketchy if the car restarts..." If the 10A fuse is removed, the lock can't have power to engage.

I only see those lights when I engage the switch but no matter how many times I press I keep seen them and I am able to burnout every time I try 😆
