One of the best montage of films that you have done so far. I am a big John Ford fan.
I have seen about 25 from this list.
    The Calvary Trilogy.
    Quiet Man.
    Grapes of Wrath.
My favourite. Man who shot Liberty Valance.
All the great actors from the golden age of Hollywood worked with Ford.
    How to see other 25?
    Keep them coming.

Thanks, appreciate the kind words. I've seen 20 of these. Liberty Valance is a big favorite of mine too, along with Stagecoach and The Searchers.

Six movies with a rating above 9.0 is a great achievement. I have seen 29 John Ford movies. That total started to rise when I decided to start seeking out famous westerns I had not yet seen. At one time, I was not a fan of westerns unless my favourites were in them. I still prefer to watch ones with my favourite actors. The lowest rated film I have seen is Arrowhead. The highest rated film I have seen is The Searchers.
Favourite Ford films are How the West Was Won, Mister Roberts, Two Rode Together, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, They Were Expendable, Fort Apache, How Green Was My Valley, Cheyenne Autumn, The Quiet Man, My Darling Clementine, The Hurricane, The Horse Soldiers, Mogombo, and Arrowsmith.
Favourite posters and stills are from The Searchers, Grapes of Wrath, Stagecoach, My Darling Clementine, The Quiet Man, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Two Rode Together, Mr. Roberts, How Green Was My Valley, They Were Expendable, Drums Along the Mohawk, The Hurricane, Cheyenne Autumn, Mogambo, Sergeant Rutledge, Tobacco Road, Arrowsmith, and The Black Watch and the final still.

Hi Flora, nice post. I thought it was time to update a few director videos. Your 29 beats my 20, most of them starring John Wayne. I've always been a big fan of westerns. Favorites include - Stagecoach, Liberty Valance, Fort Apache, Yellow Ribbon, Clementine, Quiet Man, Mister Roberts, How the West Was Won and The Searchers. Thanks again for commenting, always appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the visual presentation.

for me the top 3 are The Searchers, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and My Darling Clementine. Not that I prefer westerns over other genres, I just think they are finer overall achievements than some of his more popular films like The Grapes of Wrath, How Green Was My Valley and The Quiet Man, He was a VERY great director as everyone knows.

Yep I'd rather watch Ford's westerns than his other classics. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance was another super western from Ford. Cheyenne Autumn I'm not so keen on though it looks great.

@@Top10Charts3978 Liberty Valence is tremendous for sure. Fort Apache, Rio Grande and Wagonmaster are three others that I've seen too long ago to give an opinion here. I can say for certain that She Wore a Yellow Ribbon is one of the most beautiful color films I've ever seen. Saw many of his westerns in a theater at MOMA here ibn NYC. Just thought how wonderful it would be to see all of Ford's westerns in a festival, starting with Stagecoach in 1939, another masterpiece

That's a pretty good list from the great director. Usually I would quibble with selections but not this time. Gets it about right. Glad to see The Grapes of Wrath up there at No. 2. A superb movie that doesn't get shown enough these days.

Thanks. I can't remember what was no.1, must be The Searchers surely? It's funny when that movie was first released it was treated like any other western, well like any other 'John Ford' western. But over the years it's reputation grew. Same thing happened to Blade Runner and The Shawshank Redemption. Thanks for posting.

Nice update. Seen exactly half of these movies....strangely most starred Triple M... Marion Mitchell Morrison. The Top 10 is stellar. My favorite John Wayne Movies are found there. #5 The Quiet Man, #8 Mister Roberts and #6 The Man Who Shot Libert Valance. Further down the list I really enjoyed #27 The Lost Patrol, #35 Horse Soldiers and #39 Donovan's Reef. So that is 50%...and slightly behind Flora's total. Voted up and share on our John Ford UMR page.

Hi Bruce, 25 out of 50 is good, I've seen 20 and Flora 29. I agree that is an amazing top 10, so many high scores. I think we have the same no.1 on our charts, let me check... yep and no.2 too, not bad. Thanks as always for commenting, appreciate the vote and share.
