- Previously, we've rated EVERY SINGLE SMASH ULTIMATE TRAILER from best to worst. However, Smash 4 had some EQUALLY memorable and exciting trailers for the time. We got some of our SMASH PROS to put 'em in a tier list and rate 'em!

The Smash Invitation was literally created solely for Villager to represent their home series, and then it became a Smash staple.
I think it was probably also inspired by the king of fighters, sakurai is a fan after all
The Mega Man trailer was so good. Despite releasing a character that zones mostly, it was probably my favorite
Okay as I continue watching this, I realize that I only didn't like Greninja's. They actually did the trailers so well this game

Maybe 3DS was awful competitively but it was the second best smash in casual after brawl, and the menu and solo content were amazing ! The look good when you go in the settings and delete the black lines. It's sad to see how underrated this game is.
yeah and they were complaining about the framerate when it was actually a 3DS achievement that the game characters ran in 60fps. it looked and played so good for the hardware

@@illford honestly would’ve been cool but a lot more expensive and time consuming. using lower res versions of the wii u models was probably the most efficient option
I had it. It was my first smash game and I loved it

Despite not being a Fire Emblem fan, I remember being excited for Robin because a magical swordsman was just a cool concept. Never got to playing them, and then Hero happened.
I think they did a bad job designing Robin. He/she is a cool character, definitely deserved a spot considering how popular they were in their home game and how they tie and connect the lore of the entire series like Marth and Ike did in their stories, but the move pool doesn't feel like Robin to me, especially after playing Warriors and Three Hopes recently. He fights more like Hubert, Edelgard's retainer.
We know 2 things about WaDi:
1: He doesn't remember the Pac-Man reveal Trailer, BUT
2: He does remember his exact feelings when Pac man was revealed

It's worse than that.
WaDi made it onto the PGR Top 20 without owning a Switch console (he just played locals or at friends houses), and only bought one when the pandemic made everything online.
I think one pro player even said that one-year into the game, he didn't know you could Up-B out-of-shield and it's known that he doesn't really SDI.
This makes him the most naturally-gifted Smash player.
Shulk's alternate counter has 2 conditions you need to fulfill.
1) Shulk needs to be on the ground
2) The player needs to smash the stick towards the opponent while the counter is activating.
The alternate counter is faster, more reliable and sends behind Shulk but the fact that you need to be on the ground means you'll pretty much never actually use it but if you ever can use it you should use it.
Robin is genuinely one of the biggest tragedies of Smash.
They were actually a pretty solid and fun character in Smash 4 that no one really gave the time of day (mostly because of just how genuinely busted all of the best characters were). They were fairly easy to pick up and learn basic combos for and had an incredibly high skill ceiling with the tomes and sword, but they just couldn't quite make that jump to be great.
Then for whatever reason, Sakurai and his team decided that this character was just to good and that they needed to be nerfed OD for Ultimate. They took away a lot of things that made Robin an almost great character in Smash 4. They aren't bad, but they're just so painfully average now that it hurts.
Least we got Levin Nair in Ultimate. Imagine how scary Robin would have been back in Smash 4 if that was a thing.
Man, Duck Hunts reveal actually might be my favorite one of all time, it's just so neat

man, watching the Palu trailer keeps reminding me how so much opportunity was lost from smash 4 to ult. Like why was Palu the only low tier that got to keep their customs but Shulk got a rough equivalent of his best neutral B and counter. As a ganon main, Im always gonna complain about this because they literally had the foundation to improve him and have another game where he's mid-tier

I think it has been put off because mario kart is Nintendo's "racing game" series. I think mario kart 9 should contain all of kirby's air ride's features, such as the wider range of air ride machines and tracks.

It essentially reused Fates' engine, but that is still more effort than other DLC trailers got except for Ryu.
Plus, I liked hearing Xander/Ryoma/Sakura/Elise so I personally have it higher.
It's nice that Panda has an actual Fire Emblem fan in Marss on the team to explain Corrin's situation at the time.
Yeah, I hate when everyone just hates on Corrin, they’re one of my personal favorites, I hate it even more when everyone hates on male Corrin though cause he gets more hate & he’s the one I use lol
Corrin is actually a really cool character. Who else has a chainsaw sword and can turn into a water-controlling dragon? His game simply didn't do him justice, IMO. If the story was actually top tier I bet he'd be one of the most popular FE characters.
I too prefer male Corrin. The dragon roars sound cooler and I LOVE the blue alt.
It made me so happy when this rosa trailer first came out, i think I actually thought it was for kirby air ride 2 or kirby as Mario Kart 8 DLC or something..still a great reference to the kirby air ride intro video, I just wish they'd do another air ride so bad. Literally my #1 game from 100% of my childhood

No one remembers the Rosa trailer on their own but it is unironically fantastic just for being utterly adorable.
Before I rewatched them in this video, I remembered Bowser Jr, Rosa and Mac as the best ones.

I still can't get over how they made Lucina a Marth Clone, I mean I know they're related and she used her name at one point but her actual fighting style in Awakening resembled Ike's more.

Pin is still good, but she is less centralized around it now. Counter and DFS were gutted.
In exchange, her aerials (aside from Dair) are all S or A tier now.
As a result, she has become more well-rounded and less gimmicky, but this means that most of her optimal moves are now boring-looking sword swings.

44:32 honestly smash 4 had great trailers, even compared to ultimate.
They were either really cool, funny or iconic, while in ultimate we have random trailers like Isabelle or super long and boring trailers like for byleth, terry or Aegis. Ultimate is recolting all the praises but Smash 4 really started the whole thing.
Because a huge chunk of the budget went into the trailers. They had to cut down massively or cheat afterwards

Are they faithfull ? absolutly not, but are they incredibly well adapted to the atmosphere of the game and both cool, fun and incredibly clever regarding the bas material ? absolutly
@@artimist0315 I know nothing about Mario strikers so I'll just say this: Terry's trailer is the gold standard for paying homage to a character's home series.
And besides, Terry as a character works really well in smash.

You could use arts during hitstun in smash 4, but obviously it wasn't as useful.

9:45 Was a Zard main for most of 4, and I definitely agree. Jab had too much range, nice damage, set up for his advantage well. He definitely went even with more characters than he should of do to jab.
Flare blitz tech chase nonsense on non DI up, dash attack if you wanted to play it safe. Nice edge guarding with arguably every aerial, Dair was and still is nasty after flame thrower. Just didn't really have good Stats, or an X factor to take it over the edge.
