Marsha, I think the jockey moved her too late , or maybe she could have won , she still hade more in her ,that was the way She was a Worrier ,an Amazon ,a Queen and like it's said R.E.S.P.E.C.T. is Due .
When I was a bit younger, I owned a few retired racehorses. I'm no rider, but a gallop on a racehorse was one of the biggest thrills enjoyed in my lifetime. Watching Zenyatta run brings a lump to my throat. How I envy the jockey(s) who had the experience of riding this girl. I feel a little sad that later in her career she needed the whip to give her an extra push. I love watching her earlier performances where she ran for sheer pleasure.
Thank you for this great video. The loss to Blame only added to her legacy, and is a lesson for all of us that greatness isn't just defined by wins and losses. She's a legend! Happy 18th birthday, Zenyatta!
That race she lost was the best race she ever ran. I was there, she was so, so far behind. You could feel the heartbreak all throughout Churchill when she came up just short. One minute the crowd was roaring and the next it was silent. Such an amazing mare, she didn't lose anything in my book. I just gained that much more respect for her. She fought her way up to the front despite what seemed to be impossible circumstances. She truly has the heart of a champion.💖
I agree. It honestly looked like another classic Zenyatta finish. Had the finish line been a foot further she would have won it instead. She was passing him, she just ran out of racetrack. Still a rock solid career through and through and without a doubt a horse of a lifetime.
One of the greatest horses I have ever seen...I think she thinks she won that last race, so lets not tell her. Another foot or two and she would have anyway. Kudos to Mike Smith also!
What a wonderful horse!Elegance and strength in her.I remember some of our female local thoroughbred horses like Iron Lady,Hazmoore,Rosa Morena,Materiales Fuertes,Golden Ballet,Material Maker,Sun Dancer ..elegance in the paddocks, beast in the race track!
I can come back endlessly Just love her ! Just a tap on the shoulder She's just looking at the other 3 striding away effortlessly Race 15 was amazing !! Her neck looking around for somewhere to go !
Great video: It's always so much fun to watch Zenyatta run, and I enjoyed seeing the final few moments of all 20 of her races on one video. I think that her courageous run in this year's Breeders Cup Classic really showed the strength of her spirit and was one of her best races, even though she lost. Thanks for this video. Rookytoo
I watched her races 14 years ago, rewatched them 13 years ago, and have been on a rinse and repeat cycle since. My entire family lives in Lexington, KY and I’ve been to many many Keeneland race days, but have never been so lucky to see something like Zenyata run. She is the race horse that no one can not love. When she needed to make a move in a race she made it. It’s clearly evident in the race where she completely bottled up and decides, you know what, the outside isn’t available today, so I’m going inside and saying goodbye to the field. She loves the outside, but she loves winning more, so she found her way. She is not the best race horse ever, but she is my and many peoples favorite. Thank you Zenyata!
I fucking cringe every time I see the wire in that 2010 BC Classic. Show me another horse with that kind of drive in the home stretch. She never gave up anything. If anything, it was that Classic that showed horseracing fans what kind of horse she was. Indeed a superhorse.
The Knifest Sharp I havent watched Zenyatta videos on youtube in about 5 years and now just watched all 20. You can tell that if the stretch was 10 feet longer in this FINAL race that she would have passed up Blame as she was overpowering quite easily. Zenyatta was a Very Powerful horse.
Blame wasn't better than her, not even on this day. She was just bottled up too long. Z would have beaten Blame any other day. It was just unfortunate circumstances.
Zenyatta got her nose past Blame after the human finish line. She caught him and she knows it. In her mind, she won just like always before. I bet she even tried to march right into the winner's circle and had to be guided away. Tell all the people you want that Zenyatta lost that race, but don't tell her.
I've seen footage of Mike Smith dismounting/unsaddling after the race, and to me, Zenyatta always looked surprised and confused. Cause she throws her head up like 'Wait, why did you get off? We gotta go in the winner's circle!"
I'm the biggest Pharoah fan on planet Earth. I got into horse racing in 2011. I wish I had gotten into horse racing just a few years earlier the see Zenyatta. God Save The Queen!
ZENYATTA WOULD HAVE WON THAT LAST RACE IF SHE WASN'T KEPT AT 16 LENGTHS BEHIND THE LEADER MOST OF THAT RACE. MIKE SMITH WAS LOOKING FOR AN "OVER THE TOP" HALL OF FAME VITORY RIDE THAT CAME TO A JUST MISS. THE HORSE THAT WON WAS IN A GOOD POSITION THROUGHOUT THE RACE. ALSO, ZENYATTA THOUGHT SHE PASSED THE LEADING HORSE TO TAKE THE WIN BUT BLAME (THE HORSE THAT TOOK THE WIN) WAS IN HER BLIND SPOT AND TRYING TO PASS THAT ONE AFTER SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD IT WAS TOO MUCH. IF NOT FOR THE 16 LENGTHS BEHIND FOR MOST OF THE RACE, IT WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT DIFFERENTLY AND SHE WOULD HAVE WON. STILL, MIKE SMITH PUT ON AN AWESOME SHOW. WHAT HORSE CAN GET TO THE TOP FROM BEING 16 LENGTHS BEHIND?????
I KNOW THIS IS 5 YEARS OLD BUT I HAVE TO AGREE. LOUDLY. SHES A CHAMPION AND EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY SHE LOST BY A NOSE SHE STILL WON TO ME. NO OTHER HORSE CAN DO THAT !!!!!!!!!! BLAME GOT LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their drive , their heart to run , their enjoyment of their fans , their blessings they gave to us all , their zest for everything about the race . I think they have much to share . Love you pretty Zenyatta .
kim montesano Zenyatta didn’t have “great endurance”?? the longest she ever ran was the classic distance, which was nowhere near long distance. secretariat was also NOT a come-from-behind horse, you must know absolutely nothing about how he ran. he always stayed with or just behind the pace, and in the Belmont, he was waaaay in front of the pace. educate yourself.
@@katherineujhazy1697 ok of course shes wrong about secretariat but to say endurance wasnt zenyatta's strength defies logic. Of course she also had speed because at least some of those races probably had a slow early speed and you're right that endurance doesn't make much of a difference at 1 to a mile and 1/8 without a fast early pace.
Zenyatta is my hero she gave me hope that anything is possible. A filly a wonder horse a god given gift to the people may we miss you with sorrow hearts the thrill you gave us coming down the stretch but lets not forgot the excitement you gave us after the lights turned out.
all i keep thinking is this - there are 2 queens and 2 kings of racing. Zenyatta and Ruffian Secretariat and Man O' War. I hate when other fight over who is better, so let's jus put it like this- 2 queens and 2 kings :)
Robert Bonter, but Spectacular Bid, and Man O' War, did NOT win the Triple Crown!!!!! Secretariat did WIN the Triple Crown, in 1973, by (31) Lengths!!!!!! Also, Secretariat was on the Cover of Major Magazines, is the ONLY Horse that is listed in the Top 50 Athletes of the Century, and there was a Movie about him that Premiered in 2010, which was the 40th Anniversary of Secretariat's birth!!!!!!🤗😉☺😎 But, I do give Kudos to Seattle Slew, Spectacular Bid, and Man O' War, because they were Awesome Horses!!!!!
God watching strong closers just put away horse after horse in the FINAL stretch like that race after race after RACE is INCREDIBLE!! SHe is like the female Secretariat!!
Big, powerful body, she was a ‘stalker’. Watch race 15 7:18 where the tactics are totally changed? Lastly, why the redundant ‘incidental music’ - it’s like having an ever droning wasp trapped in the machine?
The announcer in the 2010 Breeders Cup was 100% confident that Zenyatta was going to pass Blame in time. He was gearing himself up to declare her the winner. Zenyatta.....Zenyatta....Zenyatta.....and Zen.....Ya....tta........Blame.....We all thought she was going to catch him in time as well.
Great mare, better than many of the Triple Crown winners. But she did not run in a maiden race until late November of her 3-year-old year. She simply was not developmentally ready for the springtime Triple Crown races. Her come from behind running style would have put her at a disadvantage in the [over]crowded Derby -- stalkers fare best in that race -- but she was talented enough to overcome that with a good ride and hopefully a fast pace in front. And we can't be sure she could have handled the 12 furlongs of the Belmont; she won only one race at 10 furlongs. I personally believe she could have handled the longer distance with no problem, but there's no way to be sure.
no she couldnt. she matured slowly and wasnt ready for the triple crown races. john sherrifs gave her all the time she needed to mature and be ready to race. i believe this is why she was so successful on the track and was able to retire sound.
Blame wasn't better that day, Z just couldn't get free in time. It was lucky for him and unlucky for her. I still consider this race a win for Z. She's undefeated in my book!
To me, Zenyatta was the greatest besides Secretariat. She owned the outside and proved she can handle traffic and win on the rail. She should have won the 2010 classic but Smith made his move too late. She’s the greatest filly that ever lived and probably in the top 5 of all time. Rachel Alexandra you have my heart too. Lmaoooo.
Best horse to ever set foot on a race track. Imagine what she could have done had Mike let her run earlier. Give her and easy quarter and she'd of then run all day long.
Zenyatta didn't race until her late 3 year old year, her trainer said that she wasn't ready to race as an early 3 year old. That it took her a long time to mature into the horse she ended up being. :)
That race was not Mikes fault. She didn't like that dirt and being a horse that breaks to the back of the pack she got it right in her face. She fell back and it took her forever to find her rhythm. Honestly, I was there and you could clearly see she wasn't herself the first half of that race. She wasn't responsive and when she did finally kick in, it was just too late. She's used to racing on synthetic tracks that don't have her eating dirt at the start of the race. Mike is one of the leading jockeys for a reason. He wouldn't risk a BC race, or destroy an undefeated record just to show boat. It's not that he didn't encourage her to move sooner, she just wasn't ready to respond.
Just got beat by a better horse on that day, Blame was never out of the money his entire career in 13 starts and this was his 3rd G1 win that year and on a track he was 4 for 5 on with one second, she was facing a very tough horse.
One time Zenyatta challenged me to a foot race. I'm not bragging but I won by several lengths. What's most astonishing is that I'd just finished my 4th hot dog and was barefoot. I developed indigestion somewhere around turn 3 but when I went to the whip it was all over. My legs were blistered and horribly disfigured afterwards because I was wearing booty shorts (that my beer belly had spilled over and out of). I don't usually tell anyone because we're actually very close now but every now and then I like to remind her of who's the Stud and who's the cute little Philly.
It’s filly. Not Philly. But maybe you’re from Philly and you just don’t know. So we’re cool. Or we can meet up and have some cheese steaks from Philly but not made from fillies bc that would be gross horse eating as well you know.
They said she couldn't run on dirt against older male handicap horses like Quality Road. She proved more by losing to Blame than she did in all her wins combined.
no doubt zenyatta is a beauty... but i do feel that last race of her was fixed... if u dont than watch the last race closely, she could win easily but dint
If you look closely she was hit with the stick about 20+ times.... How was it fixed?? And that was just a clip of the sixteenth pole. Mike was imploring her for all she had.
RC444 Sorry but you're incorrect. He didn't hit her 20+ times. Mike knew better than to push her too hard. That last race was a devastation. If you haven't seen the entire 20th race of her career, you obviously know nothing about a race being "rigged" or "fixed." A horse race can't be rigged unless someone violates rules with drugging their horse which clearly that wasn't the case. Zenyatta got out of the gate late because she stumbled, you're also incorrect about her being able to win it easily. She made up 12 furlongs by passing the entire pack as she was dead last the entire time. Mike didn't keep hitting her, he tried to get her up there to pass Blame and she clearly was just a second off by doing that. It was unfortunate about coming out of the gate late, but you need to give her credit for making up all that ground.
con suela Exactly. The fact that she was there at the wire with Blame (who was absolutely demolishing the field) is extraordinary. This race, more than any other showed what Zenyatta was. A once in several generations horse. Dead last to first in almost every one of her 20 races. I'd put her up against any of the greats of the last 20-30 years and without a doubt she'd hit the board.
I watched all her races, the jockey to me made it harder for her to win (some of her races) than it should have been. She raced on dirt all of her races, so the excuse the jockey gave on her 20th is pretty lame. She was a great horse no doubt, but take a Champion overseas & they win on, no matter what surface, they will win.
She raced on polytrack for many of her races. But, it didn't matter what she was racing on. Zenyatta was a true champ. No matter the circumstances (although I don't think she ever raced in slop) she was gonna make a hard run in the home stretch. Last to first in all races but two of them (she was second to last in one of them and lost by a nose in the other). History will look kindly on her. There is no doubt she is, if not the best, one of the best females in the history of horse racing.
If you look at the 6th race the 1 horse was the better horse that day just got trapped on the rail but zenyatta easily beat that same horse 3 or 4 times
To call her the best is a bit far fetched. Australian Mare "Black Caviar" between 2009 and her retirement 2013, won 25 straight without ever loosing a race. also Australian Mare "Winx" won 37 of 43 career starts, including, between May 2015 and her retirement in April 2019, her last 33 races in succession. "Zenyatta" the greatest? definitely debatable. Been a lot of great horses around the world.
ZENYATTA. She gives me chills every time I see her races. What an amazing filly. Love that horse. Will always love that horse.
Marsha, I think the jockey moved her too late , or maybe she could have won , she still hade more in her ,that was the way She was a Worrier ,an Amazon ,a Queen and like it's said R.E.S.P.E.C.T. is Due .

Had 10 bucks on blame in future book to win the breeders cup classic... That said, to this day ive never felt worse about winning a race...
Who would've known that a yearling that had ringworm who sold for 60,000 would go down in history as the queen

Indeed. Her best race was actually the only one she lost and the one that solidified her greatness. One of the most impressive efforts I've seen.

Been watching racing since 1971 and I would take her over Ruffian. She would have reeled Ruffian right in.
What a MONSTER Zenyatta was.
The Knifest Sharp.: there are none she the best 19-1 not bad

I have seen the likes of Affirmed, Spectacular Bid, John Henry, along with many other great race horses and Zenyatta was my favorite.
Zenyatta was the female version of Secretariat. Even looked a lot like him.
RYNO LASCAVIO not hardly. they were extremely different, not even remotely comparable.

Zenyatta, Ruffian, Rachel Alexandra Best female horse Forever engraved in the history of horse racing 🐎🐎🐎❤❤❤

Zenyatta and Ruffian
Secretariat and Man O' War.
I hate when other fight over who is better, so let's jus put it like this- 2 queens and 2 kings :)
Seattle Slew. KING
Spectacular Bid remains the second-best horse of all time, to Man O' War. Secretariat lost five times in 21 starts to some dumpy competition.
kincsem. 54 races 54 wins. no horse even comes close.

There she goes THE SUPER⭐️. I love Zenyatta❤️ Thank you for posting this beautiful video.
Never have I loved or admired a champion as much as this horse , no athlete compares to her
Best horse ever,I have watch this video like 20 times,so great!
Rachel Alexandra
Awesome compilation.
Thank Yous RZ!
She always finish the race with grace and speed.
God watching strong closers just put away horse after horse in the FINAL stretch like that race after race after RACE is INCREDIBLE!! SHe is like the female Secretariat!!
If you want to see another jaw-dropping closer, watch some youtube videos of Calidoscopio.
I recommend this video of Calidoscopio: 2013 Brooklyn Handicap - Calidoscopio + Post Race
Which race do you think the commentator had a bet on this superhorse? It was unanimous for the relatives I showed.
just love how mike smith steers her right in front of the horses she passes just to kick some dirt in thier face and say bye bye !!!!!!
2:06 just look at her going damn
what's most amazing about her there was no speed dual in front of her, in most of her races but she somehow won
Big, powerful body, she was a ‘stalker’. Watch race 15 7:18 where the tactics are totally changed? Lastly, why the redundant ‘incidental music’ - it’s like having an ever droning wasp trapped in the machine?
I loved watching her races was so sad wen she lost ...but she had an impressive record. magnificent horse..
soon her Colts will shine in the spotlight once they get to the track and they just might be like their mother the legendary Queen Zenyatta
I have to love this horse

Nunca vimos un Match entre zenyatta y Rachel Alexandra, creo que está se la ganaba
Love u zenyatta

I watch this video from time to time. She is my All Time Favorite. Affirmed and Easy Goer tied for 2nd.
8 lengths the best over blame if same trip so wide

Now to see if her filly will take after Mom. Filly has already recorded works, and will possibly have first start end of December.

She's an all time great, but the "best horse to ever set foot on a race track" is way over dramatic.
don't like guiness stout, but had to get some because of the super Zenyatta!
What a freakin horse…I don’t ever think you’ll see any horse win 19 out of 20 and 19 in a row….
Tardara mucho tiempo para mirar otra yegua de esta clase muy buena lo mejor que se a mirado de todos los tiempos
Great Champion 🏆she was purchased for 60,000 at Keeneland auction .
The last one makes me cry
Me too.
I wonder why dancing Queen zenyata never run at triple crowns ??
Zenyatta didn't race until her late 3 year old year, her trainer said that she wasn't ready to race as an early 3 year old. That it took her a long time to mature into the horse she ended up being. :)
Shame Mike Smith got her beat in the 2010 BCC. Would've been perfect 20/20 if he wasn't so cocky

Or we can meet up and have some cheese steaks from Philly but not made from fillies bc that would be gross horse eating as well you know.
why did Mike Smith sell the last race?
Nice Race
What would they get if you breed zenyatta with flight line?
Winx is the new Zenyatta. 23 straight and still counting. Maybe better
They are related.
Two of the very best with the same blood lines
winx is now undefeated in 30 starts!
@@danielb3028 I don't think they are
They said she couldn't run on dirt against older male handicap horses like Quality Road. She proved more by losing to Blame than she did in all her wins combined.
Never again see such a exhilarating closer do it all levels competition and against the males..that was fun
I have one question do you think she could have beaten winningcolors?
THE GREATEST HORSE,,,,,EVER!
Those last 3 or 4 races her age was showing and coming from behind was getting more difficult.
She didn't lose to Blame
Greatest horse I ever rode. Just kidding. Different Mike Smith.
who is the white horse in this race!
Was she not allowed to run for the Triple Crown ? I thought fillies/mares could run in those races.
She didn't make her first start to until it was late in her 3 year old year.
wuite a storm kat would've been a good horse if Zenyatta wasn't there
no doubt zenyatta is a beauty... but i do feel that last race of her was fixed... if u dont than watch the last race closely, she could win easily but dint
Zenyatta v winks .what a race that would be.....
Did this horse ever go right handed?
Z never lost
Mike Smith sell the last race!!
The Best the history
Zenyatta,Rachel and ruffian.
The 3 Queens of racing.
The oak tree race🔥🔥🔥
There is no doubt she is, if not the best, one of the best females in the history of horse racing.
oh yeah soon her colts will be the kings of the races since they have the Queen Z as their mother
not so fast... none of her babies have shown even 1/5 of her talent
If you look at the 6th race the 1 horse was the better horse that day just got trapped on the rail but zenyatta easily beat that same horse 3 or 4 times
Santa Teresita was the only other mare to give her a war
This is the horse to beat
Take the crappy music off as it ruins the video. It did not used to be there.
With a better ride she would have won the last one as well... she had the power to do it.. not her fault
🇵🇰🌷🇵🇰 wow super 🇵🇰🌷🇵🇰
Good all weather horse but wouldn't get no where near frankel
Frankel the best
Frank wont touch her on all weather...
I can't believe I'm saying this but she was better than Flightline at least she had 20 races meanwhile flightline have but six races
Zenyatta you're a pretty girl.
Get rid of that garbage background music and let us just hear the call of the great Z doing her thing!
