I really wish they wrote more for Lex to use her strengths.
Her strengths were shown and developed when she saved them all with tech savvy skills. They had to trust her completely and buy her time. She saved them and had to keep her cool under pressure.
Tim seemed to be knowledgeable about dinosaurs sharing a passion with Alan. That could be why Alan was relating to Tim in this scene as maybe Alan held a fascinating for dinosaurs when he was Tim’s age. Lex does shine when the adults are forced to hold off the raptors. Lex’s computer skills save them by getting the system to reconnect and restore the locks on the doors and reconnect the phones. Which was the biggest defense they had against the dinosaurs. From that one scene I would have to say lex was the best one as she seemed to have tech skills in some kind of computer and was able to navigate a system she seemed never encountered but had enough skills to rival an adult. She did what the other adults fail to do. Tim was more the Dino expert even Lexi relied on because she didn’t have the same fascination like Tim and Allen did and I’m sure she would fear them forever
@@RikelWirkkunen don’t forget she risked her life drawing the raptors to save her brother and tried to hide in the kitchen and almost died if it wasn’t for her reflection. It was so awesome seeing hte T-Rex for the first time in the daytime. The CGI team can make little mistakes with shots at night, but in the dayshots it'd be more visible to the viewer's eye. Really astounding what they accomplished here.
What amazes me is how the CGI blends with the real elements and how the tree is shaking when the dinosaurs step on it. Stuff like that sell the illusion. Modern CGI looks oddly fake. There is a larger quantity, but it is obvious that the people just stand in front of a green screen and read their lines from a screen.
Such as the shots in the night, the Rex has a slit pupil instead of a round one. lol. I can't tell if they fixed it in this shot but they did fix it for the final few shots when she kills the raptors.
The thing that makes this movie so great is that the dinosaurs act like actual animals, instead of mindlessly chasing the humans like movie monsters. The dilophosaurus sizes up nedry, making sure he is a target before moving in for a kill. The trex focuses on the gallimimus meal instead of charging the humans. The raptors plan a coordinated attack on Muldoon. Things like this solidify this movie as my favorite film of all time.
It's also one of the reasons the effects still hold up to this day and are miles ahead of most Hollywood CGI creatures. The animators actually studied animal behavior and movement mechanics for this, making the animation that much more believable.
Yeah that’s exactly true . In the novel i believe that was the same thing. Dinosaurs wanted to escape and attack humans cause were easy prey . And the rest of the dinosaurs same thing. When Nedry shut the power down those predators choose easy targets . In the book same thing
A nice touch on this scene is the fact the Galli’s in the background don’t run during the t-Rex feasting. Just like a group of prey would do in real life
Sexy Savage They probably realize that the predator is no longer a threat to them now that it’s caught prey and will solely focus on eating. I’d imagine running from a predator is super exhausting so if the predator is no longer a threat, I don’t see why they wouldn’t stop to take a breather.
I loved this scene as a kid because it was a minor glimpse into how these dinosaurs would naturally hunt and act. Notice as soon as the T-Rex finally catches the Gallimimus, the rest stop running because they know they're safe? Such cool attention to natural details.
While this movie has the least action of any Jurassic Park film, it's by far the best. The anticipation for every dinosaur reveal is just off the charts, not a wasted scene. Crazy how well it holds up 20 years on.
I love how fascinated Grant is as he watches this scene go down. As though the initial shock of this animal has completely passed over him now, and is almost entranced by how the Rex devours its prey. Even one of this kids is like "dooooooood~"
I would wager that Tim pursued a career in something dinosaur-related in his later years...or perhaps he took a darker path and became a serial killer. One of the two. 😅
Why does this look more realistic than Jurassic World? Because the creators have thought about how the animals moved. You can see the mass of the tyrannosaurus in every move. Plus the lighting is realistic and it fits perfectly with the real landscape. Today the landscape is artificial. The whole scene underlaid with an unnatural filter.
These guys did their homework on dinosaurs and how animals actually move and act. Plus as you said today's movies cgi EVERYTHING and it all ends up looking like a video game cut scene.

David Corbett is correct. Rexy steps out of the tree line you see behind them. All these years and I never realized how freaking close she was to Grant and the kids. Mother Nature…. Even 65 million years ago…. Lions do the exact same thing today with zebras. Nice little touch Spielberg added to this scene
That moment is kind of heartbreaking, but I would argue at that point, the Galli's death was a mercy; it was already terribly wounded by the Rexy's teeth, and would have died either way. Once she quickly finished it off, it's pain was over instead of having to suffer longer. But I definitely see your point!
This scene acts as a perfect mirror to the Brachiosaurus scene in the trees. We get to see the gentile side of nature vs the cruel side. But in both cases the dinos are just "Doing what they do."

1:01 I actually saw that fallen tree in real life! Since this scene was filmed on Honolulu unlike the rest of the film, this set was the only one that wasn’t wrecked by the hurricane!
David Taylor you get to see the t-Rex in action when she is not coming at ya it gives you a chance to fully appreciate the dinosaurs and realize they are just trying to live and they are not some evil being only trying to kill humans
This scene was an important part for the movie. The first T. Rex attack made it look like a mindless monster, but this scene was a reminder that it is just an animal just looking for food, trying to survive.
Rexy was just curious of the tour vehicles on the stormy night she broke out of her enclosure. She had seen cars behind her electric fence but she never got the opportunity to check them out. But on the rainy night, when the power was shut down, Rexy at last saw the chance to break out and check out these strange legless creatures that contain the humans within.
Right! I think that logic also points out the misconception of the Giganotosaurus in Jurassic World Dominion. The movie makes the audience look at it as an antagonistic monster. But it was really just another animal trying to survive
@@Jayycee3 This scene also played right into what Alan said on the tour: “T-Rex doesn’t wanna be fed, it wants to hunt. You can’t just suppress 65 million years of gut instinct.”
Fun fact, the original Jurassic Park has the least amount of dinosaur screen time out of all the movies in the franchise, only 15 minutes of it. But it’s BY FAR the best movie in the franchise, a total masterpiece. Quality over quantity.
I don’t understand how this looks so good being made in 1993. I would not complain about these visuals in 2023. Also these dinosaurs look better than the obviously cgi raptors in Jurassic world
I remember seeing this film when I was 6. I was restless but tired, waiting for the excitement to happen. Right when T-Rex got out and roared is when I really woke up. 😂
This movie is 30 years old and the CGI looks better than literally any movie coming out today. It’s like this was the beginning and the peak for CGI at the same time and from there everything went downhill - and it mostly only gets worse
New generation dinosaur movies should see this amazing masterpiece that satisfies the statement "old is gold". Because in this movie the Dino's act like actual animals and not only fake robots or some damn editing . The nature of all the animals is to avoid any fight with humans they want to stay away unless they are hungry . They don't chase and fight humans for fun as shown in many movies. And the logic is also very acurate . I mean that this movie wants to teach us about real dinosaurs and not about only silly and fake fights . The knowledge given is proper specially the T Rex acts like it is no doubt real. My mother first watched it in cinema hall when she was a college student and then told me about this movie . This movie is awesome.🤩🥰🥰🤩. This dinosaurs also look quite real and scary.
I can't get enough Jurassic anything. I watch the movies, follow the fan page on Facebook, watch videos on RUclips. It's my favorite movie series ever.
My favorite childhood movie! I remember my parents saying that at least two DVDs were burnt through after watching it numerous times. Fortunate to visit where they filmed this at Kuoloa Ranch in Oahu, Hawaii
30 years old now I remember going to see this at the cinema at the time the visual effects where astounding at the time.I don't think modern audiences quite understand CGI is par for the course now we don't even notice it.
Very short and personally underrated scene. This scene felt true to the description of the books and added such a something’s out there type vibe knowing the Trex is free on the island
I like how the massive rex just pops up out of nowhere to attack the gallimimus. I imagine that it was crouched behind the trees ready to ambush the flock when they got close, like a Komodo dragon…
It takes you to look hard to see the imperfections on the Rex CGI and thats saying something for a 29 year movie, It looks absolutely amazing til this day 😃
Fun fact: there is only 14 minutes of dinosaur screen time in the whole movie and only 4-6 minutes of that was cgi that took a year to produce, the rest was practical effects.
It really is the ultimate movie. Every single genre is on display in this Horror, Sci-fi, Comedy, Drama, Triller, Family, Adventure and Crime to this day Jurassic Park is my absolute favorite movie of all time.
This scene still bombs! If you have kids, make them watch this movie before the other movies because kids these days sometimes need to be afraid to these monsters. It's an experience that every child should get through as we kids from the 90's did and thought us how beautiful and dangerous creatures they were.
I was 13 when I saw this in theaters. Now I'm almost 43, I still love this movie! I watched this clip in the slowest possible speed to investigate every details, and this "CGI" scene is not just CGI, this is art!
1:36 'You'll never look at birds the same way again' that line still makes me laugh as it sounded like Grant said that with a bit of sarcasm in his voice and I think he did and it probably got quite a few chuckles from the audience in movie theatres when this movie first came out because what he said did sound a bit funny.
There are something really wrong with the modern digital moviecameras. Just look at this scene. The colours and how deep and alive the whole scene feels. Even much of the digital effects in this scene is better than today.
The rendering is primitive, but they *feel* like real animals, made of bone and muscle. The movements, the head bobs, the weight distribution, the momentum. It's all spot on. In Jurassic World they're standard modern CGI: perfectly textured digital rubber dolls with uncanny valley physics.
The dinosaurs look so much better 30 years ago then they do into today’s stupid Jurassic movies there pretty much unwatchable. This one was magical just a awesome movie
I never saw this before but seeing it HD you can really see the right toe/foot of the T.Rex wobble and morph when it grabs and eats the Gallimimus. Also if you look at in in 0.25 speed you can see the gallimumus that gets eaten jumping and halfway disappearing @1:20. Imperfections that can be forgiven as they were undoubtedly still learning as they went along. The fact that for a first full creature CGI movie they had the balls to do a scene like this in broad daylight is amazing.
the most accurate and scariest T-rex yet! to this day this is the greatest Dinosaur flick ever! feels and sounds like a real Jurassic park. But that T-rex though WOW!
This movie in the theaters was the greatest thing for me cause ,like Tim, I loved dinosaurs as a kid growing up. The 1st scene with the brontosaurus is still 1 of the most amazing movie scenes in my history.

@@malabala4502 and whatever that means.
Joe shmo Hfunvkoobcho means hfunvkoobcho
Joe shmo it was what rexy said when she was violently throwing the gallimimus around
1:01 I actually saw that fallen tree in real life! Since this scene was filmed on Honolulu unlike the rest of the film, this set was the only one that wasn’t wrecked by the hurricane!
This scene is just 1 reason why the 1st JURASSIC PARK is # 1.
David Taylor you get to see the t-Rex in action when she is not coming at ya it gives you a chance to fully appreciate the dinosaurs and realize they are just trying to live and they are not some evil being only trying to kill humans
They put work and thought into the plot and character development instead of being like a cash grab. The other movies feel different from this one.
@@Jayycee3 This scene also played right into what Alan said on the tour:
“T-Rex doesn’t wanna be fed, it wants to hunt.
Me personally more dinos = better
Honestly for a movie that came out in 1993, the CGI is really, really good.
T-Rex: *Kills Galli*
Also Other Galli: Eh well, He was 2 days away from retirement anyway
The kids look tired and traumatised as they should be from the previous experience. Small details like these is what makes a great movie.
This scene by far had the best and beefiest T-rex model compared to later films
The Rex was majestic and properly bulky here, I love it
30+ years later this movie still looks incredible. It's a shame standards dropped so low in Hollywood.
These special effects still haven't aged a day.
Still far and away the best movie in the entire series.
I remember watching this in the movie theater. Still looks good all these years later.
😢 i never watched this movie theaters back when i was a kid. I really wanted my parents to take me but i did see the lost world 😮
This movie is 30 years old and the CGI looks better than literally any movie coming out today. It’s like this was the beginning and the peak for CGI at the same time and from there everything went downhill - and it mostly only gets worse
what a scene , what a Film, what an Era of 90s
New generation dinosaur movies should see this amazing masterpiece that satisfies the statement "old is gold".
Because in this movie the Dino's act like actual animals and not only fake robots or some damn editing . The nature of all the animals is to avoid any fight with humans they want to stay away unless they are hungry . They don't chase and fight humans for fun as shown in many movies.
And the logic is also very acurate . I mean that this movie wants to teach us about real dinosaurs and not about only silly and fake fights . The knowledge given is proper specially the T Rex acts like
it is no doubt real.
This masterpiece didn’t deserved sequels!
Lost World was okay but it did eventually force a third, then subsequent movies there after
movement, lightning, motion blur, almost everything perfect in this cgi... imagine they doing this movie with resources we have today
It's a shame that you don't see the t rex in other movies besides the jurassic series. He's actually a really good actor.
He was in all of them, the end of Jurassic world, and Dominion as well
trex is most popular dinosaur he is basically in every dinosaur movies
Rexy was on the screen most of the time in the movie Jurassic Park (1993) than other movie.
I really don't understand how this 30 years old CGI is more believable and natural than what's being pumped out today in the JW movies
not the same artists bro, and spielberg didn't direct the new films
Very short and personally underrated scene. This scene felt true to the description of the books and added such a something’s out there type vibe knowing the Trex is free on the island
Great scene, great cgi+animatronic combi, great acting, great animal behavior picturing, great details on small things, true masterpiece
I like how the massive rex just pops up out of nowhere to attack the gallimimus. I imagine that it was crouched behind the trees ready to ambush the flock when they got close, like a Komodo dragon…
"Look how much blood..." *gets taken by alan*
So funny 🤣
This movie was so ahead of it’s time. I still think young Rexy looks better than all of the others to date.
Still better then the new movies can not convince me otherwise
It takes you to look hard to see the imperfections on the Rex CGI and thats saying something for a 29 year movie, It looks absolutely amazing til this day 😃
Fun fact: there is only 14 minutes of dinosaur screen time in the whole movie and only 4-6 minutes of that was cgi that took a year to produce, the rest was practical effects.
bro they made this with old ass computers dawg. its crazy how well made the animation is
Because they put alot of effort on it to make it look real. Nowadays CGI is mostly done cheap.
Really one of the classic unforgettable scenes not to forget!
It really is the ultimate movie. Every single genre is on display in this Horror, Sci-fi, Comedy, Drama, Triller, Family, Adventure and Crime to this day Jurassic Park is my absolute favorite movie of all time.
All Grant ever wanted is for people to understand his Bird Theory.
People already knew dinosaurs were more related to birds, before the discovery of feathers.
This is still better than the modern stuff doing parkour running faster than a velociraptor.
In my childhood I watched this in theatre with my father...😍😍😍
Tim just fascinated on how much blood there is 😅
This scene still bombs!
If you have kids, make them watch this movie before the other movies because kids these days sometimes need to be afraid to these monsters.
It's an experience that every child should get through as we kids from the 90's did and thought us how beautiful and dangerous creatures they were.
At that year, the cgi was so amazing
still is..
still better than most of the cgi movies nowdays
Seen it about eight or nine times, it doesn't get old.
I was 13 when I saw this in theaters. Now I'm almost 43, I still love this movie! I watched this clip in the slowest possible speed to investigate every details, and this "CGI" scene is not just CGI, this is art!
1:36
'You'll never look at birds the same way again' that line still makes me laugh as it sounded like Grant said that with a bit of sarcasm in his voice and I think he did and it probably got quite a few chuckles from the audience in movie theatres when this movie first came out because what he said did sound a bit funny.
Rexy literally just came out of nowhere
Irl Rex was an ambush predator.
The original RKO, Rexy Knock Out
She came from behind the trees
This movie was so ahead of its time❤
why does this t rex look better than jurassic world
Right? Unforgiveable.
There are something really wrong with the modern digital moviecameras. Just look at this scene. The colours and how deep and alive the whole scene feels. Even much of the digital effects in this scene is better than today.
To think, every N64 game came after this...I can't even imagine the man hours on CGI and practical.
I'm really hoping they re-release this in theaters next year for it's 30th anniversary. IMAX would be amazing.
When you realize that a movie from 1993 has better cgi than most mcu movies in 2022 and 2023
Such a good franchise, the best franchise.
This is scene is “flocking” perfect wouldn’t you say
Thomas Baker that was so awful I think you just gave me cancer
C. Galindo lol
Thomas Baker 🍔🍟
Porque tá todo mundo fala desse jeito
The dinosaurs look so much better 30 years ago then they do into today’s stupid Jurassic movies there pretty much unwatchable. This one was magical just a awesome movie
The reason why the JP movies are getting produced: ruclips.net/video/m37G-06ibAU/видео.html
Bro the “there so much blood” at the end
This scene is 31 year old and still better than the whole Dominion movie
I never saw this before but seeing it HD you can really see the right toe/foot of the T.Rex wobble and morph when it grabs and eats the Gallimimus. Also if you look at in in 0.25 speed you can see the gallimumus that gets eaten jumping and halfway disappearing @1:20. Imperfections that can be forgiven as they were undoubtedly still learning as they went along. The fact that for a first full creature CGI movie they had the balls to do a scene like this in broad daylight is amazing.
Yea if you sit there and do what you did then of course you'll find imperfections. These movies were meant to be seen and not nit picked at
30 years and still a glorious masterpiece. Happy 30th anniversary.
I wasn't born when this released 🤣 but this movie looks masterpiece
the most accurate and scariest T-rex yet! to this day this is the greatest Dinosaur flick ever! feels and sounds like a real Jurassic park. But that T-rex though WOW!
This scene is better than the whole Jurassic world series
This is great CGI. A masterpiece.
A “Gallimimus” is a plant eating dinosaur that was a herbivore and has a meaning “Chicken Mimic”.
Okay!!!
@sparrow Scratch herbivore*
@sparrow Scratch ur right
@@Miguel-Red omnivore*
Gallimimus more than likely ate plants, as well as small lizards, Insects, and probably even eggs.
This movie in the theaters was the greatest thing for me cause ,like Tim, I loved dinosaurs as a kid growing up. The 1st scene with the brontosaurus is still 1 of the most amazing movie scenes in my history.
It was a Brachiosaurus.
When the trex hunts the gallialminus I got so excited I didn’t even say a single word. They’re flocking this way will be my favorite line .
1:24 sound effects is a dog playing with a rope chew toy, you will never unhear this
