    Espero mi comentario sea útil para alguien que se encuentre indeciso de adquirir alguno de estos dos equipos; debo decir que he tenido la oportunidad de tener ambos, solo que no simultaneamente.
    De hecho cambié el KROSS por el MX, porque la verdad me interesan en sí los sonidos de piano acústico y eléctrico; además de que el sampler no lo usaba, ni el secuenciador (ya que solamente toco, no produzco).
    No hay discusión en cuanto a qué equipo gana en dichos sonidos (al menos en mi opinión), es decir; quién es el claro ganador.
    A decir verdad, Yamaha se lleva los pianos, pero KORG (reitero, en mi opinión y la experiencia que me llevé) tiene mejores sonidos de órganos, strings y metales que los que tiene Yamaha.
    En cuanto a sonidos de sintetizadores, lead, pads; es cuestión de gustos ya que ambos tienen buenos sonidos en dichas categorías.
    Todo es cuestión de gustos y necesidades, el MX tiene una interfaz de uso más simple y sencilla que la del KROSS, ya que este último presenta muchas posibilidades de editar los sonidos a tu gusto, así como sus arpegiadores y osciladores.
    En resúmen, si te interesa la edición de sonidos y producción de música el KROSS basta y sobra (muy bueno la verdad); por otra parte, si te interesa solamente tocar, y/o usar el teclado como controlador, el MX es una muy buena opción.
    Si tienes la oportunidad de adquirir ambos hazlo, se complementan muuy bien.
    Ya se que es mucho texto, pero espero que resulte se utilidad; saludos :)

      Gracias por el comentario! Te puedo hacer una pregunta ya que tuviste ambos? Yo tuve un korg x50 y resultó ser un muy buen sinte pero con muchos problemas técnicos (se me rompió 4 veces) y quería comprarme el kross 2 pero tengo miedo de volver a tener los problemas q tenía con mi anterior korg, además de que para el nivel de sonido y posibilidades que tiene su precio es muy barato lo cual me produce un poco de desconfianza...qué opinás? El MX es considerablemente más caro, al menos en argentina...

    • @evercazares9340
      @evercazares9340 3 года назад +14

      @@diegofernandezmardaraz4155 ¿qué tal Diego?, sí mira; la verdad es que el MX es más caro que el KROSS, aunque yo lo conseguí de oportunidad, me lo cambiaron por el KROSS. Debo decir que a veces extraño la interfaz de navegación y edición con la que cuenta el KROSS, y algunas gamas de sonido como los pianos eléctricos FM; además de que puedes utilizar el sintetizador como interface/interfaz de audio para ponerle un micrófono, mientras que el MX no cuenta con esta posibilidad pero tiene buen motor de edición de sonidos (al menos para lo que me interesa) aunque es más sencilla que la del KROSS. Bueno, ahora sí al grano; la verdad el MX se siente mucho mejor construido que el KROSS (aunque por una extraña razón el tacto de las teclas me gustó más en este), este se siente muy frágil, de modo que a la primera que se te caiga va a sufrir daños significativos, aunque la ventaja es que es muy ligero, práctico y portátil. Mientras le consigas una buena funda o estuche y dependiendo también qué tan cuidadoso seas con tus instrumentos (sin el afán de ofender, pero es que si hay gente muy tosca) todo bien, te debe durar. Respecto al MX en este ámbito creo que queda un poco más resuelto, es un poco más pesado (muy poca diferencia) y se siente mejor construido como dije antes, la ventaja que tiene este equipo es que puedes utilizar la aplicación FM Essential (siempre y cuando tengas un dispositivo Apple) que te da más posibilidades de control sobre los sonidos que trae la app. Si consigues el MX cuida que sea la versión 2 para que puedas usar FM Essential. Vas a diferenciar la versión 1 de la 2, porque la 1 tiene letras color vino/guinda (no estoy muy seguro que color sea, pero más o menos), mientras que la versión 2 tiene letras color naranja.
      Por lo demás, recuerda que todo es cuestión de gustos y necesidades y el tipo de música que toques; yo por ejemplo, opté mejor por el MX porque toco música cristiana, y para los sonidos que trae me parece mejor opción.
      Ya se que es mucho texto jaja, pero prefiero dar respuestas completas que puedan resolver otras dudas que surjan. Saludos desde México :)

    I've worked in a music store selling all varieties of synthesiser to portable keyboards, workstations. Etc. From my personal experience yamaha does have rich acoustic sounds. Like guitar and some woodwind instruments like soprano sexaphone. But it's string , bass and drums aren't really as good as Korg. If you compare them both in person with good sound system you will find that korg sounds richer even though it's sound engine is not as compatible to XG yamaha series like motif. One other thing is programing. You will find that the 16 track sequencing is much better then yamaha. Where by yamaha is limited. No matter how good their sound engine is.
    Personally I'm still a fan of Korg, Roland, Alesys, and Hammond when it comes to sounds like the pipe organ and etc.

    Thanks so much for this demo/comparison. It's really helpful to me. In my opinion, the piano & the strings sound better on the Kross 2 than the MX61. But the flute & the clavinet sound better on the MX61. In general, both sound good but I prefer the Kross 2. The Kross 2 looks really sleek with the curvy sides but the first & last keys are exposed (on the side) so you have to be careful while carrying this keyboard, otherwise those keys might break. Thanks again.

    I have both and like them both for different things. The Korg to me though is a better base keyboard instrument and the Yamaha excels at backup keyboard parts! I really like the Favorites and Set List options on the Korg which make it easy for me to switch to my favorite sounds quickly. However, being able to see 2 sounds at a time and switch to them and layer or split them on the Yamaha is also very handy for my background parts. I really love the Phat Korg Piano a lot after playing it in the band. I typically like to play the main keyboard sounds I use an octave lower than default so I had to save them all that way. Also I wish they didn't default all the sounds to have a drum kit and an arpeggiator on them so you have to turn them off---they should be additive features and not default, but you can save them how you want to.

    I'm about to replace a broken MX61, so I decided to try something different, since my last four live keyboards have been Yamahas. The Kross 2 was on my short list, but one show-stopping feature (or lack thereof) took it off for me: on an MX61, you can change a patch (or bring in a layer) while holding down the sustain pedal and the change won't hit until you lift your foot. This is great to have, since if, say, I want to add strings to a piano for the chorus, I don't have to hit the layer button exactly on the downbeat of the chorus--I can hit it a bit early, so that when the chorus hits, I can be playing keys with both hands, instead of pushing a button with one hand. The Kross 2 changes as soon as you touch the button, whether you're sustaining or not. I ended up ordering a Roland Juno DS61 for that reason.

    It's kinda hard to say which one's better, but I get the feeling the Korg's trying to represent instruments while the Yamaha is trying to represent the way older Yamaha synths and workstations failed to perfectly represent instruments which they're so loved and cherished for today.
    A bit more situational than the Korg.

  • @landguitar
    @landguitar 5 лет назад +6

    Very helpful as I am considering both of these. Disclaimer - I am a guitarist, playing keys is a third or fourth instrument at best and I play keys like a guitar player! I can clearly hear the differences, but it would have been helpful to me to know what patches were being compared, and to also hear some layers, although that would have made the video much longer, I realize! Coming at it as a guitarist, while some of the acoustic piano and even some of the EP sounds were maybe more "natural" on the Yamaha, I have to think that in a band situation that subtlety would not hold up. The Korg sounds like it would push the mix stronger. That might carry over to recording as well; maybe not. It also looked like the key action was a bit more natural on the Yamaha, but that was just observation and maybe not accurate.
    Thanks again though, very helpful!

    EPs are always just subjective in my opinion. If the sound is pleasant and fits the song then who cares if it sounds exactly like the original? The dynamics and how well velocity switching is handled is more important and this wasn't really tested here. I'd give the edge to the MX61 on those criteria though.

    I think I will buy the Kross 88 and the MX 49 to get the concert piano sound which I believe to be the best. It wont cost too much and I'll get the best of both worlds. ADD: After looking in detail the manuals for both models the Yamaha is very limited when it comes to modify the sounds. essentially you can change the attack, sustain, cutoff and resonance. There are LFOs to modulate the amplitude and pitch which for me is important if I want to be able to create my own sounds. Just for his reason, I would go for the Kross 2 or maybe consider the Juno DS from roland in about he same price range.

  • @tommymandel
    @tommymandel 6 лет назад +16

    I have used both extensively, being into ultra-lightweight keyboards that promise good quality sound.
    I play the MX a lot, and I've loaned the Kross (1, not 2, I admit, but I think the sounds are the same?) to a friend.
    The Kross' plusses are a) You can make more detailed Combi's with a greater number of different parts, on the synth itself. b) the sounds kind of jump out at you. (but that is a negative too, they can start sounding artificial at times.) The Yamaha has a better feeling keyboard to me, the Korg's being very springy - but you do get used to it, although you have to kind of 'pretend' you're playing a real keyboard, it does work after you get used to it. But on the other hand, the Yamaha can sound organ-like when you are in a band context. This is good for its ability to 'fill in' a band's sound, but the Korg has a different kind of more useful midrange dynamic. I was constantly making up new EP and Organ sounds thru editing on the Kross, not because you can, which IS a nice feature, but because the ones they provide, and the ones you can tweak them into, aren't quite satisfying. The Yamaha MX's EP's are really fantastic, as are some of their organ patches.
    That's why the Yamaha MX(49) is right here next to me, and the Kross is at a friend's place. I pick it up right before the holiday season, because with its (the Kross') superior "Multi' ability, I've programmed a bunch of Combi's in it that i use in Holidelic, a wild inclusive xmas funk band. To be fair, I did do one or two great local gigs on just the Kross 61 and a Hammond SK-1, that covered all the bases, and fooled everyone, hah!
    PS: on this very fine and useful muzykuj video, it sounds to me like, though both are excellent piano patches, the Korg Kross has a lot of well distributed transient info, but it decays too quickly for my taste.

      Great descriptions. I too have used both Korg and Yamaha. It's so true that the Korg sounds jump out at you and I found that good for creating but not always so good while playing in a band. Sometimes you need to sounds to ease in and fill in the sound, not jump out of nowhere so abruptly. Better dynamics on the Yamaha too, as you said.

    I have both now and selling the Kross and keeping the MX. The Kross has the midi and audio recorder advantage, but soundwise, except from Electric pianos and Synth sounds, (good on both boards, each in its own way), the MX beats the Kross on all other instruments.
    I would say that Electric Bass, Acoustic Drums and Organs are the instruments where there is the bigger gap in quality, in favour of the MX.
    The acoustic pianos are also more realistic on the MX

    #1- in a band context, you are lucky to even be in the mix so the better piano or sounds dont matter when they are this close.
    #2- if you just set it and forget it one synth might sound better than the other but I'll change patches many times even in a song. Korg offers 8 banks of 16 pads so you can have your favorite combinations and programs easily available.
    Good luck being heard after the guitars come in and the deaf sound man is texting his boyfriend. . .

    Comes down to features. Sounds are all personal preference. If you listen to the Korg Kronos and MX...huge difference. Also, in price. However, these two are very similar in sound and it comes down to one's personal taste. The features on the MX are superior to me than the Kross. I used both in the store with DAW and the MX is more easy friendly. However, I do wish that the MX had a pad. Also, you save a little more money on the MX.

    Six in one, half a dozen in the other. Both have their strengths. Yamaha sounded slightly better to me with piano, Korg's strings were better...it alternated back and forth for the most part. If I had to pick a winner on sound alone overall, a very slight edge to Yamaha. However, Korg has a pretty cool sampler with pads. I'm guessing the Yamaha does too? OK, a question for gigging musicians: which one of these, or perhaps a closely matched and priced competitor (DS61?) would prove to be most useful on stage? I think I would be happy with the sound of either one; what about play-ability, changing bank/registers, on the fly adjustments, splits and layers and switching thereof, etc. Thanks for any useful info anyone can provide!
    Oh, and can I run my bass guitar through any of them? On several songs I swap back and forth, using the Right split and output for keys bass. Tone and volume I can match really well with my Casio, each going to the amp separately, but it would be nice to take both through the same effects chain.

      @@erself OK I now have one and whilst I am basically happy with it. The good first : The cello, viola and acoustic bass sounds are pretty good. The pianos are passable in a mix. Some organs are OK. Some brass sounds in a mix are acceptable. I will have many purposes for the huge drum section. The Bad : Some voicings have bizarre ghost sounds associated with them. I also found that these ghost sounds sometimes are only on certain notes??? In the case Reed Organ there are fairly loud out of tune ghost bass sounds but once again only on certain notes. As I am able to send the KROSS 2 back for my money within 30 days I did some research and found KORG Europe. I had a few emails with them. I told of the above problems and had these answers back. Yes we can confirm that these problems are known and as far as we are concerned are acceptable!!!! So will I give it back? Probably not as overall for the money there's not really much compares out there and I can't really afford a more expensive one at this time. I will make sure people know about Korg's low quality control issues though. I also found changing between voicings can some times create a loud change over sound. If you ask me this keyboard has been brought to market as a beta version and to tell you the truth I am astounded that a company like Korg would have done so. Egon have you discovered these problems or others?
