I brought a s14a 5 years ago with everything u could think of done to it but needing sills for £1900. Ticked that one off my bucket list n sold it for £3000....now look at the prices 🤦♂️ lol
@@D4VE26 Yeah I feel like they've gone well past the price point that made them cool in the first place now. I sold my SR swapped sil80 just before tokyo drift came out, thinking that would be peak hype pricing. How wrong I was!
Props to Gav for letting you drive this. Nice to actually get some proper feedback on a car instead of OHHHH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING while doing 140mph down a busy street, one hand on the wheel etc
There's plenty of blokes on yt making fancy car reviews so its nice to see someone just being honest. You could talk about the specs a little more though.
The camera quality is great on this, and some mental roads you've got there aswell A few cars it would be cool to see you drive - E92 M3, FK8 Type R, C63 AMG, Megane RS
Agreed… all on the list I do actually have an E92 M3 video from a few years ago. I started a playlist for these videos called “CAR REVIEWS” (I’ll probably change the name later on) but the E92 video is in there
Thoroughly enjoyed that Dan. Glad to see the car getting some exposure as it's a nice example. Couldn't be happier that Gav's got his hands on it now too :)
Yesss, as a cyclist and car enthusiast it's great to see someone in the car world who doesn't see bikes as the "enemy". After all it's really not hard to overtake safely is it, and it could mean the difference between killing a person or not if there's a sudden pothole or something. Loved Danny on the car throttle podcast, especially reading out the anti-cyclist email that some gammon had sent in 😂
Hey Danny.🖐 Really enjoyed this one, mate. We had that body style over here, but didn't get the proper engine, so they didn't get a second glance from me. Gav's car on the other hand, looks good and sounds nice. I saw it bring a smile to your face on several occasions and that's what matters most. Sounds like the turbo is properly sized for the engine as well, stays on boost after gear changes and not laggy. Besides the power, I like the colour combo, RPF1s, big front brakes and 3-piece rear wing. Looks like a fine example of what a Silvia should be.👍 I was expecting it to bottom out on some of those bumps too, but it didn't. Appears to be very well-sorted for being that low. At one point, you mentioned possibly having a rating system a like Doug score, but I like the way you summed this one up. Good car. Keeping it simple is usually best. Either "Good Car" or "Less Than Ideal".😉 BTW, thanks for the humour here and on IG. Amos Moses, lil' layumb, and passed around like the village bike.😂 I was expecting village wench, but you kept it classy. haha. Have a good evening, Dan.
fantastic video... I'd really love to hear a little about the steering feel, gear lever action and other things we can't see just through the video. I can't afford many of these cars so this is about as close I can get right now.
As I said in the last video, I've been here since the beginning, when you didn't even vlog. And I have to be repetitive... You are getting really good at this, and at editing too! I really like where you are going with the channel. Racing, wrenching, track days, reviews... My man! Cool video Dan, really enjoyed it!

Cheers Dan , big hello from Belfast fella
Yorkshire moors always provide some great cars on a nice day, this being no exception. Loved the format of them and good to see your views on a car that is more commonly used for drifting rather than grip. 👍
What a mint day to go up Blakey ridge, it's normally either raining sideways or thick with fog whenever I'm on that road🤣. I like the video format, love that your not over thinking it and just have a giggle when you hear Choo Choo noises, that's what it's all about 👍
Loved this format mate. The early S14s are my favourite of all the S chassis stuff and this one, although a bit stancey, looks perfect imo (minus the stretch lol). For the rating system, i don't know how essential it is but something simple would work. Rank each section, suspension/chassis, brakes/wheels and tires, engine, interior, exterior etc like 1-3. Maximum score, anything over say 12 gets the official Good Car™ status lol
Drive normally and apply the brake pedal to create load on the engine and drivetrain, once you have built enough boost (depending on peak boost) release brake pedal while pressing the accelerator pedal. (enter wild turbo nosies)= BRAKE BOOSTING FUN
Proper review that Danny lad!! Somebody who can drive as well 🙈🙉 is this a new review Danny ??keep doing it because you say it as you see it brilliant!!😉 👌👍
Awesome video. You're lucky to have such beautiful roads and scenery. Its painful to see all these classics with interior and air conditioning removed especially when it on essentially a road car. I hope the owner cherishes it.
Awesome as always Dan and totally unexpected type of video 👍👌💯 Remember looking for one of those around 2008 and going for 4k, ae86s for 5k. Good old price Times 😅
You've already experienced it, but to clarify the idea behind it, "brake boosting" is (usually) done to maintain a certain speed while spooling up the turbo(s). I've got a ~600bhp B5 S4 fed by two relatively large turbos. Turbo technology has come a long way, and even at this power level, modern turbos would be a different story, but this is an old build, and my GT2860's take some time to wake up. So let's say you want to race your mates on a dual carriageway. You both line up at 80kmh (or whatever) and "1,2,3 go." If you picked the right gear, there's a short wait for the turbo(s) to come online, pressurize the intake, and off you go. But.... By brake boosting instead, you can maintain the 80kmh while using the throttle to bring the turbo(s) online _before_ the "1,2,3 go." And _now_ when you go, you _GO!_ Because you're already making boost and all that power is _right there._ It really only makes a difference on "big turbo" cars that have traded off responsiveness for top end power, like my S4 or this S14. Modern (esp. OEM) turbos spool almost instantly.
First time I ever tried brake boosting muscle memory kicked in, and my left leg decided it was in clutch mode... nearly put myself through the windscreen
The question of if a car is worth it’s new worth is one I’m constantly asking myself with the way car prices are going! I mean I’d love an 86 but for 15k? Idk
@@Gcheung88 yeah I mean essentially that’s what drives the price up because so many of us desire a certain thing the market is competitive. It’s easier to pick a car you’re less into and say it’s not worth the money people ask for it but once your hearts in it it’s gonna win you over
