I know nothing about lighting other than it illuminates the darkness. However, thanks to YT, I do know what a,"ring" light is. Thanks Chris!

It's a great light and it's portable. Definitely worth $80. If I could only pick one light for people setting up the first studio, this would be it.

Three major downsides to this light, and I have one: No remote limits any installation in an elevated, or other hard to reach position; an inability to power with detachable batteries means lugging the IMMENSE power transformer with you everywhere; and lastly, the fan is WAY too loud for video work.

Thank you! Yes, all of those are really good points. It's definitely not suitable in a studio environment. I didn't find the fan to be that much of an issue though. It could easily be edited out in post with most video editors. I think Adobe Premiere has a fan noise filter. I read all the specs carefully before purchasing and my biggest complaint is the dimmer button. 1% is way too bright and not accurate at all in my opinion. I really didn't miss it without a remote, although it would have been nice.
I ended up returning the Ulanzi LED light for three main reasons:
      1. The dimmer button is just too much of a problem.
      2. Although Ulanzi says the mini bowens mount is expandable with reflectors, softboxes, etc. they don't sell anything to go with the light other than a tripod, making it useless for me.
      3. The build with hard plastic is just ok. I'm afraid that if I drop this one time on an outdoor shoot, it will easily break and I'm out $100.
FYI - I found a good alternative to the battery they supply. You can use a USB-C power bank and it will keep it powered for hours, but I never tried this and I would be afraid that the light would get way too hot. I never tried running it while plugged into a battery source and I suspect it wasn't built to be on battery power constantly. You can buy the DC male to USB-C male cable on Amazon for $10. www.amazon.com/2-5mm-Charging-Disscool-Extension-Charge/dp/B09JWF9VQ8?th=1

@@ckdesignlab , interesting find on the power cable. The power transformer I have says "19.0V = 3.42A 64.9 watts". Most power banks are 5V, no?

@@Pics2FlicksDennis there's power banks available at 20 volts and above but you need one with power delivery. Anker offers some great options. Baseus has one on Amazon at 20v.
