    Nice, detailed video for getting into the remote. I find my biggest problem is, after many years of use, the buttons emitting a chemical goo that gets all over the insides and gums up the contacts. I recommend using ethyl alcohol, sometimes called denatured alcohol, for cleaning electronic parts rather than isopropyl. I'm a retired electronics engineer and several companies that I worked for used ethyl alcohol, instead of a specialized solvent, for cleaning boards and connectors following changes/repairs. Ethyl alcohol seems to remove more gunk with less effort and less residue than isopropyl. You definitely want to use gloves with either alcohol to eliminate contact with the strong solvent and unknown chemical residues. Thanks again for your insights into getting into the remote!

    Thanks for the video, much like the others tried all of the button resets only to realise it was constantly trying to send a signal (used camera to show ir). A battery had leaked acid and was on some of the contacts, quick clean and working like new again.

    This video is your answer to fixing a stuck/non responsive remote. After some time spent troubleshooting with resets etc, I decided to crack into it and give it a cleaning. Sped up the drying with the air compressor. Worked like a charm and done in under 15 minutes.

    HOLLY SHIT I FIXED IT! My daughter got the remote wet and it wouldn’t work. We’re too broke to buy a new one and I knew my husband would be pissed if he couldn’t use the tv when he got off of work. This was a life saver!

    Hi, thanks for this comprehensive, well informed and educational instruction. Isopropyl and graphite pencil were great tips. I only had one button not operating, I did a less robust clean before I reassembled it and it no longer worked at all. I am still working on it but it looks like the top + battery contact is caught inside out of reach of the battery. I discovered this with another useful tip. Digital cameras especially phones are sensitive to infrared light. If you look at the remote infrared led at the top of the remote and press a button you can see if it is transmitting at all. If no button is working it is most likely the power as I have just discovered. Om reassembling I was carful to make sure the battery terminal when in its slot but still no luck. So although not repaired I have learned a lot - thanks.

      Good tip Anthony. I did consider this, but it can be a bit hit and miss, might confuse people too much, so kept it simple.

    What a beautiful video so helpful and so detailed. My remote is just staying on like a button is pressed. I haven’t cracked the case open but I saw a comment that you made with another viewer that said to replace the remote I ordered a remote on eBay, not sure if it’s genuine Samsung, but I did order it but it cost a whole eight dollars! Please advise if I should go through the cleaning process and if there might be some dirt across a contact? I already pressed every button 42 times and no change And the TV says not available

    Thank you for a brilliant video - just letting viewers know that if after cleaning the keys and board and the board traces are intact, and the remote still does not work, the culprit is the 47uf capacitor - replace it and the remote will spring back to life.

      Do you have a tutorial on how to replace the capacitor?
      My remote was working - powered on the tv and was turning up the volume when after a few presses it just stopped. One battery had a little corrosion so I cleaned it, but I dismantled the remote anyway and cleaned it as you did. Still no go. Does it sound like the capacitor is the problem to you guys?

    Be careful! Doesn‘t work with remote AA59-00638A (with backlight button top right). Mine broke, because it is glued on the left side by manufacturer. Rest works fine. Maybe I 3D print myself a housing.

      It sounds like you have a had a major failure. I would buy a replacement remote from eBay. See video on details on how to search for it, on ebay

    Recently, with my Samsung TV remote control, I have to hold the button down for a couple of seconds for it to work. All the buttons seem to have this problem. They used to work with a very brief press. Changing batteries didn't help. Do you know what the problem might be and how to fix it? Thanks.

    • @Repair2Renew
      @Repair2Renew  2 года назад +1

      Mark your remote might need a washout with 99% Isopropyl alcohol, as I show in this video and others

      Sounds like you remote is stuffed, might be easier to buy a new remote from eBay.
      Type in model number, in Ebay search, as per video.
