Well, many stores let police officers take whatever they want without paying for it. I use to live in Indianapolis and police get free apartments. Police officers get free meals at most restaurants. At a certain gas station, they get free beer, lottery tickets and cigarettes. They get away with it. Thank you for not letting him get away with stealing.

But, if the taking was done without the explicit, I guess even implicit, knowledge of the owners/mangers, it'd be even worse.
You're almost right. The "free" apartments aren't free. You have to sign an agreement saying that when you're off duty, you'll be on call for them. Complexes that have a lot of cops living there will have a pager that they pass around. I never did it because when I'm off duty, I like to be "off duty." Places that give free, coffee, fountain drinks, and meals to on duty cops are just doing it to make sure that more cops come around. Which keeps junkies away. I've never heard of a place giving free beer or lottery tickets, mainly because every department I've ever worked for didn't let you buy that stuff in uniform, but if the owner's ok with it, and the department doesn't care then I don't see why it's anyone else's business.

Most cops do not commit rape and murder on a daily basis though. Some cops occasionally harrass women into having sex with them. Actual full scale rape and sexual assault by a corrupt cop is fairly rare. Most of the cases of murder are when a cop gets too aggressive and shoots a suspect or does a knee chokehold or some BS when they should have just tackled and arrested the suspect and then just chucked them into the paddy wagon. Cops just killing someone in cold blood is fairly rare.
He should have gotten out of police work, since that sort of thing can lead to exactly what it did. He relaxed his own morals. The guys who get away with big stuff are harder to catch, they probably have a sneaky support network at work and at the courthouse. When a lot are together, it's going to take longer.

They should charge cops that use their badge to try and convince other cops to let them go, with trying to influence an officer. Because you know damn well they would do it in a heartbeat if a civilian tried something like that.

But, this guy seems to be from a different jurisdiction, so who knows what would happen. Actually we don't know for sure what happened here. Besides, I can guarantee that not ALL DAs don't prosecute. In states like Ohio, state troopers only have statutory jurisdiction over the highways, but in states like Pennsylvania, state troopers have jurisdiction over the entire state, for any type of crime.
My stepfather was a security guard in several places in the 70s and 80s; including retail. He stole from literally every place he worked at. He would always eventually get caught and fired; then hired somewhere else within a week. No one ever pressed charges because they were all embarrassed to admit they hired a thief.
I'll never understand why SOME police officers feel they're above the law! None of my deputies I was honored to work with, EVER thought about doing this

His family knew about it and said it was something related to all those years on the bench. Anyway, they opened a personal charge account and as soon as anyone saw him walk in the store, someone had to follow him and track what he stole. It was always stupid stuff, usually in the first aid isle.

Later that same day we see the same cop uses flashing blue lights just to cut through an intersection. Soon as you got through the intersection he shut his laptop and drove off like a normal day. The second story I had a friend got in trouble for smoking weed. If you're going to do that don't get mad if you get caught. What made me and my friend upset was the cop that arrested him and a judge that gave him his sentence. We're both seen in a car sharing a joint. Friend took a picture but looks like they both still have their jobs. I guess being a cop & a judge you can destroy evidence all you want

But this guy came thru and had 21% and I told him it didn’t pass and he pulls out a badge and said he was exempt. But I told him no he wasn’t and then he started asking if I was really gonna make him remove his tint, and j told him yes he was. A badge doesn’t give you freedom to do illegal shit especially when your off duty. I have a high respect for cops and their job but if you do stuff like this that’s when I lose respect for you.

He said that he never knew of the plant in his back yard, and lost his retirement bennifits. He wanted my dad's law firm to be his legal counsel. It didn't happen.

A similar incident happened at a convenience store near me. A cop came in and ordered a bunch of deli sandwiches, obviously picking up lunch for the guys at the cop shop. He wandered the store until his number was called. He picks up the sandwiches and proceeds to walk out the door. An employee noticed and calls the manager. The manager reviews the security tapes and calls the police. Long story a bit shorter, the cop lost a $99,000 a year job for $30 worth of sandwiches.
As a truck driver I'm considered a professional driver by police and held to a higher standard for instance in my state blood alcohol is .08 but for cdl drivers even in our personal cars it's .04. So I think we should hold them to a higher standard as well. If I'm held to a higher standard because of a endorsement on my license they should be to for the badge they carry

some cops think they're above the law. good thing the local PD didn't think so.
