My GREAT grandmother didn’t die until she was 96, and I was 13 then, so…. I’m just confused as to the time discrepancies.

    I am by no means glorifying Bonnie and Clyde nor am I worshiping them. I enjoy studying about them though and what I am doing is telling their historical story. It's a story that I am not done with and at some point I will be covering more locations and people which will include the victims. It's impossible to place it all in one episode especially with how widespread they were. You have to realize how they helped revolutionize our federal, state and local police forces. If we had not learned from this we would be facing the same fate with victims over and over again. Police forces at the time were severely underequipped. Police usually had a little revolver, no police training and farm pickups as patrol cars. They were often old and held together with bailing wire and chewing gum. Bonnie and Clyde did everything better than police for a couple years. But when we realized that we needed to change things to compete with criminals like this there were a lot less of them. When I used the word beloved it might help to look up the definition of it. Much of the press and public at the time were interested in them. People wanted a piece of them and to view them. They were popular long before any movies or songs. In order to understand history you must look at both sides. And that is what I'm attempting to do. It's virtually impossible for you to cover the victims without understanding what happened. There are many stories throughout history that have both good and bad connected to them.

      but not in a sick way as much as Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails... I don't know if this story is true or not but I have a feeling it is :
      It is said that years ago he recorded an album in the living room where Sharon Tate (and... I can't think of his name... forgive me ) where they died those brutal horrible murders , including her eighth month baby fetus .
      It is also said he bought the door , the front door that had bloody words written on it "pigs " or "Helter Skelter " ...I can't remember now what I read about it.. but it was written in the victims' blood and he kept it as a souvenir...why ? How sad and horrible .

    I used to live in Joplin down the street from this apartment in 1974, it looks good now, but in 1933 when Bonnie & Clyde stayed there it was a little dumpy, it stayed runned down until the 1967 movie of Bonnie & Clyde with Warren Beatty came out, after that somebody started fixing it up and made a tourist attraction out of it. What a lot of people don’t know is, for the movie, they actually filmed the get away scene at the actual location of the apartment. It took them all morning & all afternoon to film an eight minute segment for that part of the movie.

    Good video. Here is a site made for the b&C folks who want accurate information. Read the Playboy interview with WD Jones. He states Bonnie never fired a gun but was a "hell of a loader". As to the stupid remark that Bonnie was really a man is just plain wrong. I saw the B&C car when I was 12 years old at the Tx State Fair and there was a newspaper clipping showing some of the bullet holes in Bonnie's chest and it showed her right breast with a bullet hole above it. No doubt she was a female.
    You can spend a lot of time reading here. texashideout.tripod.com/bc.htm Read the Playboy interview with WD Jones and get his first hand experience with Bonnie and Clyde.
    The B&C car is now in a Las Vegas casino but I don't remember which one. Also at one time they replaced the glass and ran it in a classic car race.
    Bonnie and Clyde were actually called Clyde and Bonnie when they first started. That is how Ted Hinton referred to them in his book "Ambush". And he also stated that the owner of the truck used to get B&C to stop was tied to a tree over night and was not a willing partner in the ambush.

    Just finished Jeff Guinn's book "GO DOWN TOGETHER" which I consider the definitive story on Bonnie and Clyde. In the book he states that Bonnie's mother (in an unpublished biography) did not want her buried next to Clyde. Also speculation as to one of the assassins taking a valise full of cash. Souvenir seekers were detained from removing Clyde's left ear and trigger finger while one woman managed to cut a few locks from Bonnie's hair and a swatch from her dress. Hammer, after the shooting, walked to the front of the auto and shot Bonnie several more times through the windshield. Makes you wonder who the real animals were in this scenario.

    • @RhettyforHistory
      @RhettyforHistory  3 года назад

      Yes Emma did not want Bonnie buried next to Clyde. Bonnie was still married and still wearing her husband, Roy's, wedding ring the whole time she was with Clyde. Some of the artifacts are all over from the onlookers taking them. They were certainly after Clyde's trigger finger with a pair of poppers. It really is sickening.

Bonnie's backround would mitigate her actions as well, that kind of power and control,at long last now in their grasp would be intoxicating, but in the lives of these two just got .....out of control, and once again chaos reigned over them. This was nicely done. You did a wonderful job of being objective and respectful in making this video.
    These people were hated by the nation, their actions shouldn't be glorified but people should just leave them in peace at the very least if they can't respect their graves.

      Respectful? they were stone cold robbers and murderers, they killed at least 13 people and injured more, they didn't just rob banks but Mom and Pop gas stations and small grocery stores, how about some respect for the people they killed and all the families who had to live with that.

    • @RhettyforHistory
      @RhettyforHistory  5 лет назад +3

      I think what he is referring to is I didn't sit there and degrade the graves. I also thru some people in there that had to do with the story that weren't the criminals. I am simply telling the story. A story that I am not done with. A story that has many locations and people involved. I will be visiting other locations. Other graves. Graves other law enforcement. Graves of other victims. So no matter who it is I will still show respect. I'm in cemeteries and yes they are criminals but there are other people in the cemetery who are not.

    • @YuuKamijo
      @YuuKamijo 5 лет назад

      @@RhettyforHistory That's exactly what I meant. Also, graves are one of the last physical connections that the dead have. It's mostly meant for the living family and love ones of the deceased, as a neutral and peaceful memory. Again, you did a very good job with your video.

I believe they were cold blooded killers that got what they deserved. We need lawmen like Frank Hamer these days.

      The press at the time and many in the general public at the time made them out to be something they were not. We have to remember this was amidst a great depression. People wanted to believe in something good, something better and something getting back at banks etc who brought them down. But the reality was much different. They often robbed mom and pop stores. People who were struggling themselves. As we all know Hollywood as well as recording artists have added their glamor to the love store. I think Bonnie was just looking for a way out of where she was and had a history of making poor choices. She had her husbands name tattooed on her thigh and still wore his wedding ring the whole time she was with Clyde. I believe that if she had the opportunity to have something better than Clyde she would have taken it.

    Very informative, I actually walked into Dallas Cemetery that been locked all my life (by a fense) and then one day passing a new gate installation left the grounds open (unsecure) so I took the opportunity thinking Bonnie was in there too, since real information wasn't known to me at the time. (Growing up, I herd Bonnie and Clyde are burried there fr preteen peers) but it always looked secured passing from a car, looking at it. That house is amazing to know after all this time on Singleton. I wonder, are there any other W. Dallas Oak Cliff Arcadia Park markers besides the school Bonnie went to, that history knows about, that are still around? Well thanks for this journey and effort you made.

      That's true! They do take a lot of time, research, driving and money. They're fascinating characters though. And because of those criminals of the the 1930's it forced to have better equipped police forces. Imagine trying to chase after them with your farm truck that was barely running, a six shot revolver, no training and no back ups? Meanwhile they had a fast car and a huge amount of firepower. When you study history good or bad it all has an affect on how things change. Thanks again for watching.
