The strength of Nicole (the daughter of Mike) is truly something to behold.
"He broke 6000 guitars, never drew a dime."
That line is really the ONLY thing I and many MANY others know Mike Graham for. The way he shook his head too when he said it is legendary.
That is he is well known for.
The truth is, he never drew a dime. Like Jarrett, he got a push out because his dad owned the territory but never had what it took to carry a promotion.
@@JohnDoe-gk7okI hear you but to be fair did Mike ever claim he was a draw?
Says the only guy in wrestling history to have a bad match with Jushin Thunder Liger, so he has no room to talk.
It always baffled me how never-weres like him could slam on others in big spots not drawing big numbers, like they were putting butts in seats in their heyday.
Bless Nicole.
I pray she continues to live a happy life and continues breaking the cycle.
This was an absolutely tragic episode of dark side of the Ring.
I moved to Tampa in 1981 @ age 4 & CWF was my introduction to wrestling. I remember when Eddie passed away & they had a few memorial events for him. I'm glad that the grand daughter & her family are now doing well.
1:38 “they interviewed an old lady…” I don’t know why but this cracked me up 😂
I wouldn't be surprised if they made a movie about the Graham Family like they are doing with the Von Erichs.
Five men across four generations…good lord.
To be fair, I believe The Solomonster talked about what you hear around 6:03-6:17 while he was talking about the 'Dark Tales Of The Territories' episode involving Florida wrestling & the CWF, for example.
I completely forgot about that story until now--literally...
Suicidal thoughts are the hardest mindsets the break. Maybe you can get through to them, but once that make that mindset up. That is it.
If I remember correctly both Eddie & Mike were diagnosed with ADD. Which does often leads to depression/suicide later in life for some especially with substance abuse problems.
I always look forward to your reviews on wrestling documentaries due to the additional research and insights you offer. Cheers, Solomonster!
Thanks!
"He broke 6,000 guitars and never drew a dime." Mike Graham is the only guy in wrestling history to have a bad match with Jushin Thunder Liger, so he has no room to talk.
I knew Jerry Graham's son (Tom) and he told me a lot of horrible stories about his "dad."
This is a very sad story depression is no joke prayers n condolences to the graham Fam😔💔🙏💯
It's sad of hearing of the von erichs story, but the actually you hear this story about the Graham Family. You can't help but to be in shock by hearing their story.
I first heard of the Jerey Graham story from Behind the Bastards podcast on Vince McMahon.
Me too, it was wild
He should have told the story about Eddie flying into the fireworks at Disney and getting away with it
An incredibly sad story
This episode was so sad. 😢
the parts where Nicole talked about her daughter to Mike to help him during his depression was really heartbreaking...knowing how it was going to end
good review
Hereditary depression in the family . It’s insane 5 of them committed suicide. But a son or father killing them selfs on ya put u even more depressed and see no future
I'm glad Solomonster is embracing the him and Orange Cassidy meme.
To be honest I'm afraid of what they would find if they did a deep dive into his "boys ranch". Once you know the story of Rock Hudson and Jim Barnett this concern makes more sense.
Damm Alot of wrestlers kill themselves I think CTE is probably in all of them
RIP
This is one of the most saddened dark side of the ring episodes along with the von ericks owen hart and Chris Benoit episodes
Not a dime 😂😂
I find it SO funny that Mike Graham said that guys like Jarrett, Benoit and the rest of the Radicalz never drew a dime, and yet what dimes did HE draw? Mike Graham himself never drew a dime either. Sorry to shit on a guy who ended up killing himself, but it’s kinda well deserved.
Also, Mike Graham threatening BENOIT? I have to think that the only reason Benoit went to WCW HR, was because he was so sick of WCW(and who could blame him). If he wanted to, I think Benoit would’ve DESTROYED Mike right then and there.
It’s sucks what happened to him and his Dad and his son, but Mike Graham was not a good guy. Just being honest here.
If Graham had truly threatened Benoit, Graham would’ve been dead 12 years before he blew his brains out. No way he could’ve taken Benoit in a fight.
Mike Graham could have held his own too. guy definitely knew how to defend himself
but i agree, he was just so bitter and mean-spirited. i mean i don't blame him since he had to deal with the grief of losing both his dad and his son to suicide. that obviously took a toll on him
Mike Graham's suicide never drew a dime.
Im shocked dark side of tge ring never covered the jeff jarrett comment or at least interviewed malenko in regards of graham threatening benoit and all that caused them to leave to wwe. Mike graham was retired and in the video & booking team. He even had access to the minute by minute ratings which is why the NEVER DREW A DIME comment came out. Wats sad is. Hes right. The best workers but couldn't draw. Both Benoit & Guerrero failed as wwe champions and its not their fault just that fans didnt buy into them as nash called them.- vanilla midgets. If only they survived through the 2010 years when u had cm.punk, BRYAN, seth rollins. Ohhhh the big wat could have been. Graham though will be remembered as that comment - NEVER DREW A DIME
He also said that lots of people were watching Barry Windham and nobody was watching Booker T, so I don't know if Mike's judgement was the best.
@@rafmeinster yeah that was fucking ridiculous. look i don't want to speak ill of Mike because it is clear that he was going through horrible grief...but that was one of the stupidest things i've ever heard
i've always said that guys from the territory days of wrestling really exaggerate those days. literally no one under the age of 45 remembers anything from that period. Cornette is probably the best example of this too
Unfortunately there are genetic links to suicide I’m happy she’s being strong God bless her
Mike Graham didn’t even look like a world champion either, man these middle aged bozos need to be humbled nowadays lol
