It could be one of two things. Ukuleles can be strung with a High G or a low G string. I use a Low G string for many fingerpicking tunes. I am playing a Tenor ukulele in standard C6 tuning (GCEA). You are referencing a D that doesn’t sound correct. If you have a D string, and we’re not referring to a D chord, then you may have a Baritone ukulele which is tuned to (DGBE). My D doesn't sound right like yours for the finger picking. It's tuned correctly and finger position is correct. What could be wrong?
