So I’m assuming Disney’s rule for lightsaber death’s is that it can only apply to minor characters (or major character like Han Solo, on the behalf of Harrison Ford). But, in any other major character can pretty much survive a lightsaber stab in Disney Star Wars and live, because the plot says so?
This isn't even a Disney thing. I mean Quigon, Dooku and Jango are the only characters with names spoken in the movies who actually die to lightsabres in the prequels. OG trilogy obiwon is the only character with a name killed. Seems like it's just a starwars thing mate, can't really blame disney on this one. I mean maul gets cut in half and comes back.
Having been watching the Disney material I forgot how L E T H A L the lightsabers can be. People get decapitated and bisected in the prequels like oh my God

say what you want about the sequels (they are bad) but the rey/kylo vs Pretorian guard battle is one of the more interesting and fun fights to watch.
Interesting too look at how bad the fighting choreography is it’s terrible just take a closer look
