1:09 is when this show gained my respect and I started taking it seriously. I just remember thinking, "Damn, that was really dark." This show matured very well & it's why so many adult Star Wars fans have enjoyed it.
To be fair the first couple seasons were actually more aimed for kids. But as they realized most of the audience were actually older, they learned how to transition to being less childish and more what older audiences love to see. And I’d say they did a great job in doing that transition.

Seasons 3 and 4 of the show are excellent, and season 1 and 2 have great points as well. Just like Clone Wars, Rebels matured with each season. Also, a death doesn't have to be violent to be potent. Nearly every death I mentioned there had meaning in Rebels for racking up the tension, bringing drama, or creating great Star Wars moments, such as Kenobi's duel with Darth Maul, which was masterfully done. PS. George Lucas always thought Star Wars was for kids. I heard him say it in person at Celebration Orlando. So maybe you need to find a new fandom.
