Today my mom that when I came out to her more than a year ago told me she would love me no matter what, and that I'm still her daughter, told me that seeing me kissing another woman would be the most disgusting thing ever, she expects me to live my romantic life in secret or to not live it at all... Sooooo I'll have a veeeeery uncomfortable Christmas this year.
Receive a virtual hug from a bisexual woman who's mother is a lesbian and still think that being bi is just "naughtiness" and that I should just "pick a side".
Your mom will come around. I know. It may take some time, but she will. 🙏🏻🌈
Fun facts;
During the week-long celebration of Saturnalia, not only was there the legally imposed role reversals (masters serving slaves the main feast. Slaves were legally protected if they spoke against their masters.) Also, there was legalized lawlessness. During the week, you could literally break the laws, including murder and not be arrested for it (the murdered's family could retaliate as well so, I imagine that tempered decisions). At the end of the week, there would be a human sacrifice to Saturn, and one of the popular food items served at feasts was people shaped cookies and cakes which represented the coming sacrifice at the end of the week... which is where the tradition of gingerbread people comes from.
Homosexuality was not illegal in the Roman Empire, but there was a bit of stigma. Like, a gay man was often seen as a "lesser man" or " less manly". But during Saturnalia, people were encouraged to drink a lot, and committ acts of public nudity and sexual activity.... regardless of your sexuality.
Fun. ❤
