I love the ending of one normal night (Wednesday’s “all I want, all I ask” bit with the ensemble) and the addition of Lucas’s verse in the Broadway version. However, the walking to the original theme and Mortica’s interruption with Wednesday trying to argue with her is so good. If they could combine the two versions, this song would be even more perfect!!
5:21 I wished they kept this part in There's just something about them reenacting the original 60s intro that I just love I know they kept the theme itself and moved it to the overturn which makes more sense but it doesn't feel the same and feels more like them going "ok, there's the original theme, we got it out of the way now"
I've thought basically the exact same thing. It's like "here's that thing we know you all want to hear, now you can stay and watch our show." I liked it so much better during ONN because then the audience had to not only wait for it, but wonder if it was going to happen at all.
@jessmarie12953 The idea of the character is precisely that, that she's being transformed, at the beginning of the show she is like Christinia Riccir style, then she is "pulled into a new direction" that's why she is witty and bright
One of my favorite songs in the show! Does anyone else just snap out of habit when they hear the Addams Family theme song? I know I do, lol. Sometimes I don't even know I'm doing it.
I saw this yesterday in Cincinnati and the reaction from the audience was priceless when Wednesday says that they're from Ohio (dialogue has since changed from this particular recording, but the Ohio lines are still there). Sooooo funny!!!
I'm trying out for my school's production of The Adam's Family tomorrow and just now realizing that freaking the guy that played Bertram was in this. The hell? Lol. Anyways. I'm trying out for Wednesday. I'm being forced to necause my freinds and family see a striking resemblance in me to Wednesday. Help.
I’m playing Wednesday in my high school production. My whole life I’ve been told that I look like Wednesday and in elementary school I’d get called Wednesday Addams because people were just jerks but little did I know that I’d be playing Wednesday in high school. I have fair skin and long black hair and I always either look sad or angry or bothered and it scares people or makes them worried but that’s just my face I’m actually really really funny and weird and friendly if you get to know me. And I put my hair in braids because braids make life easier and also for cultural purposes sometimes. But When I found out my school was doing the Addams family I knew I was gonna get the role. I am her, I feel like her too! Like I was going through the same love thing when I got cast. I’m excited for the show.
I was supposed to play Wednesday last year, but sadly our production got canceled a week before the show 😔 hopefully the world will calm down and it will be safe to do it this year.
This version is honestly so much better in my opinion, that last part sounds so much more richer, and it just feel ethereal even. If you wanna know: 6:14 Just completely bone chilling...🥰
This is tryouts... things frequently change between when a show is in tryouts/previews, and when it gets on Broadway (which is when they record the album).
Hmmmm, Wednesday wouldn't be complaining about the Addamses not being normal, they think that they ARE normal and it's everyone else that's weird. I dont know that they have that type of self awareness.
To be fair they made Morticia pretty far off from her normal character in the musical too. They made her extremely selfish in it. In every other version she would have at least tried to respect Wednesday's wishes. Usually the thing that keeps her from being "normal" in other versions is the fact that she just doesn't really understand what that means. In other shows and movies the whole family HAS actually tried to be more normal after learning that they made people uncomfortable because they are polite. They just don't understand exactly what about them bothers people. Morticia is meant to be the type of person who puts her family's happiness above anything else (tradition included) but through the whole musical she basically puts herself and her own happiness above Wednesday's at every turn.
As kids, we are taught things, and we follow them with no doubt because we don't know any better and they are our PARENTS. When she was younger, she was taught to embrace the darkness and she did just that. When love appears is when she is confused as she sings about in Pulled. She loves the boy for some reason and is pulled to him. She is learning new emotion that she never had before. So, after she finds out that she's in love, she wanted to do anything to keep him in her life knowing that his father would take him away if she seemed dangerous or weird (Full Disclosure). Which is why she want everyone to be "normal". She has finally grown up and probably understands the difference between their "normal" and other people "normal". It's like a religion recognizing another religion's beliefs but still believe in their own religion
@MatthewVJames Me too, I actually like the Broadway version much better. I loved how even the "normal" Lucas still had the same fears about his family embarrassing him.
Is ti me or Morticia looks like Idina Menzel at 1:58 ??? Well, anyway, I LOVE THIS SONG! I CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT!! (8)One Normal Night, that's all I want, that's all I need from you. One Normal House, without a mouse, that feeds a plant or two(8) Where is the LOVE botton?
@ylwbrcboi In Clandango it is explained that Wednesday lost her braids when she became a woman. If they had had her keep her braids, she would have looked too young to be considering marriage.
So.....they made the Addams Family into...La Cage Aux Folle? Its the exact same plot...and they changed all the characters so much...no wonder this show failed so bad.
That Adams Family Theme in the end and them walking gets me so hype and I don’t know why, I wish they could have kept it
Andy Gonzalez same
i still believe the best part of this song is the vocals for 'mom this is not about you!' - the tune is so pretty

Thye changed this song SO MUCH
yeahh
YES
So upsetting. I play Wednesday and I wish this was in it
I love lurch just slowly walking back as the song ends, it's one of the genius things about this show that I love so much
5:21
I wished they kept this part in
There's just something about them reenacting the original 60s intro that I just love

the Chicago version is so much better, and it's a lot richer with addams family references
I'm loving it
Best song was SECOND BANANA. Unfortunately it’s been so long I don’t remember anything but the title. But it was the best.
Yes it was!!!!!!
I'm bummed they took out the Addams Family theme section in the broadway version :(
@jessmarie12953 The idea of the character is precisely that, that she's being transformed, at the beginning of the show she is like Christinia Riccir style, then she is "pulled into a new direction" that's why she is witty and bright
When she said it's almost six o'clock I looked at the clock and it said 5:58 pm O_O
Valley Guy its 5:28 XD
Me looking at the clock and seeing it’s 5:58 as I’m typing this: 👁👄👁
I feel left out it’s 10:22 where I am rn
It’s 5:53 for me lol
One of my favorite songs in the show!
Does anyone else just snap out of habit when they hear the Addams Family theme song? I know I do, lol. Sometimes I don't even know I'm doing it.
It's MANDATORY to snap every time it plays
I saw this yesterday in Cincinnati and the reaction from the audience was priceless when Wednesday says that they're from Ohio (dialogue has since changed from this particular recording, but the Ohio lines are still there). Sooooo funny!!!
Is it just me, or is the casts random Carols one of the most iconic parts of this song? 6:29
I agree.
Oh I love Nathan Lane. Wish I could have seen the show.
I love that the song included a call-back to the original 1964 Addams Family series with the awesome "Foghorn Doorbell" SFX at the end!
I wish they kept it this way, I think this version is much better.
Help.
Hope it all went well. Did you get a part?
I am Lurch in my school production of this later this year.
I was called a mix between Wednesday Addams and sports bc of what I look like😂😂
I just got casted the principal Wednesday at out school!

S. Spyro7956 YES
YESS I LOVE HIM
i love the way Lurch snaps during the theme song. lol
Got to see this one in Chicago years ago!! Loved the Cast!!!
This version is honestly so much better in my opinion, that last part sounds so much more richer, and it just feel ethereal even. If you wanna know: 6:14
Just completely bone chilling...🥰
Normal is an illusion
In the NYC version Cousin Itt follows the curtain piece around after the intermission, not during this song.
Oh this is so cool thanks for uptting it up! I have the broadway soundtrack but to see this video when they were in chicago is amazing! Thanks!
i like seeing how they change a song from the previews in Chicago to the final product in New York :D
Nathan Lane = the best part of the show
RudeandNotGinger1 Carolee Carmello/ Alice= Best part of any show
I would of died to see Nathan lane in this Wednesday was amazing
i think if i was one of the main actors i would be fooling around behind the stairs at 6:01ish
Lol just realized Lester is the guy who plays Bertram in Jessie
Goofy The Dog you just blew my mind
I realised that
Goofy The Dog and Horton!
Hester
Cester
I'm really confused because the soundtrack is so much different than this??
This is tryouts... things frequently change between when a show is in tryouts/previews, and when it gets on Broadway (which is when they record the album).
I was the bride in my colleges performance of this musical and it was the hardest yet funnest show I’ve ever been in
Hmmmm, Wednesday wouldn't be complaining about the Addamses not being normal, they think that they ARE normal and it's everyone else that's weird. I dont know that they have that type of self awareness.
You’re absolutely right
s8ntmark i feel like wednesday is aware of their differences but embraces it as her personality until she wants to please the beinekes

I want to see this show so bad. Thanks for the clip. :)
I Love this musical, I love Bebe!! I love everything!!!!
The Addams Family Theme was awesome ! I snapped XD
5:30 the best part of the play, I don't know if it made it to the broadway version. it should have.
wow i just love how they put a twist on the theme song :D
@firefairyangel7 I agree.
I love how the broadwayy version is basically about 2 kids embaressed by their parents.
I love Morticias face when she says hot lol
I LOVE THIS SONG
Second bannana, Pulled in a new direction. All the music was amazing.
IT DIDN’T START WITH ‘They’re normal people. Not like you, not like me’ I’M IN TEARS!!
AWESOME!!! THANKS!!! THIS IS EPIC!!!( I type in big words depending on my excitement or anger, in this case excitement!!!)
i- ya'll not realizing uncle fester is bertram from jessie are you-?

Interesting, they did some rewrites to this song for the album.
Quilliant a lot of it lol

@ylwbrcboi In Clandango it is explained that Wednesday lost her braids when she became a woman. If they had had her keep her braids, she would have looked too young to be considering marriage.

@LeeDoc6595 This was in Chicago before it got to Broadway. In most of the Broadway proshots she has pigtails.
Oh this is so funny!
god Rachel Potter's voice is SOOO effin awesomecakes
IS THAT BERTRAM FROM JESSIE?!
This version of musical is SO MUCH better
20 yr old Krysta Rodriguez as Lydia Deetz from beetlejuice :0

I got fester at my school
Dude is that BERTRUM from Jessie
Define Normal? I love my sweatshirt that I have that says that...
I am in The Addams Family currently understudying Fester and Mal. 🖤🧡
5:30 is when the intro starts
Gomez: "Define normal?"
I can't remember if the scene at 5:30 was in the broadway show or not. -hmm-
Haha the butler and vester went through the wrong door
Mary Dowden you mean Fester
Is there any way you could post "Passionate and True"????
If I could pick one song from the chicago version to see, that would be it.
The fact that they changed the song so much that I’m actually angered about it. 💀😭
I just want to know where the pigtails are.
Hey, can anybody tell me how the writers decide to cut the songs doing previews so that the Broadway version is somehow different.
Corrction. This Wednesday is Krysta Rodriquez.
what happened to wednesdays hair i though she had pigtails :O
@MorticiaAddams13 It's not Gomez, it's Nathan Lane
I love from 5:30 to 7:01 Ha Cousin itt Wow!
Maybe he's HOT....I love Bebe!
@hikarusbaby The guy in this video IS Nathan Lane...

Meryl Budnick um no, he’s married to the Moon.
They only said Ohio cuz their in Michigan lol
Chicago is in Illinois. Not Michigan.
I don't like this version but i'ts still nice i guess ☺️
Find a key on that "GET" word, Fester.
This version is a bit much.
thats probably the point - chaotic and weird
I get it why was a "flop" the songs feel raw, some parts don''t match
love the brazilian version though
So.....they made the Addams Family into...La Cage Aux Folle? Its the exact same plot...and they changed all the characters so much...no wonder this show failed so bad.
This show didn't fail...it ran for a year and a half on Broadway and had a national tour. I wouldn't say that's a failure.
And not to mention schools and drama companies all over the country are doing it. My school has auditioned for it tomorrow.
Not to mention pretty much everyone who likes musical theater (not everyone of course) has at least heard the song Pulled
My schools putting it on! Today’s opening night
wednesday should be more sarcastic and less annoyingly witty, she has a great voice butttt christina ricci was the best wednesday addams....
