The other 50% is gaining an intimate familiarity with each line by hearing and typing it. As you create the breakdown, you will be coming up with ideas for how the story can be told in trailer form, which moments/lines can be juxtaposed out of order to create storytelling efficiencies, comedy and impact.

How long does the dialogue breakdown normally take?
Around 8 hours. Less for action movies (less speaking) and more for comedies and drama (more speaking).
