Have you noticed how it's going at Jason and Brooke's at the Cog HIll 40, with their pond? Their pond is coming along quite well and it's going to have a dam. It's looking awesome and so far, they've had some rain and it has filled with rainwater and it's not even completed yet and their house, Brooke's mother's house and their barndominium are looking so fantastic! Be patient with moving Santana because if you move her before she has the baby she isn’t going to be familiar with the area and that could change the way she handles the baby.

So exciting to hear about the changes. I'm sure you'll make a good decision about moving the Longhorns. If you have a cross fence that gives you adjacent pastures, you might be able to keep Tex apart from the cows until he settles in. He might be more inclined to load if his ladies just loaded. I don't have cattle, but I think just Santiana and her new calf by themselves in the trailer should be OK. You could put the calf in the front with a cattle panel between it and Santiana if you want to be on the safe side. You could take them in a couple of loads. Ask your vet if they can give Tex something to calm him but not knock him out. I'm pretty sure they have something for horses, so there's most likely something for cattle too. They can probably dart him to get it in him. Can you snag a few eggs from Carl and candle them? Love you guys, always an adventure.

I loved seeing Jamie with the baby goose and the baby donkey, especially the baby goose. Did you all see how quickly that gosling calmed down and relaxed in Jamie's hands? Jamie is really good with birds!
I remember as a kid, sitting cross legged in the trunk of Dad's Oldsmobile, holding a baby calf, with mama cow on a halter and lead, trotting behind. We had to move them from a farm into town so we could keep a close eye on them. It was only 5 miles, but they did fine. That was how we did it in western Kansas.

Like you Lester I feel Tex is special, as is his bloodline. If he has male sires they need to we given to someone who values their worth enough to pay for the privilege. I know you will vett them to make sure they are a good family. But let them pay and use that money to benefit Longhorn Lesters and Tex's family. Same with the females you can't keep. It is a necessary move to keep your herd smaller and also shows you value his worth.

Y’all already have a form of loading chute. It’s in his old pen where Carl is now. Down the center of that barn. You have a gate on both ends. Back your trailer up to the front gate and load Tex in through the back gate into that pen and then try to move Tex into the trailer.

Lester you’re talking about not getting Tex all stressed out when you move him. Have you considered maybe using a mild very mild sedative for him I don’t know what you call it. Your vet would know. Just enough to keep him calm during loading, unloading?
OMG...great live. I laughed at so many comments you guys made. Especially about Buccees one eye......Im currently having issues with my left eye from cataract surgery many years ago. May vision is all foggy and hard to see....I felt like Buccees and I were kindred spirits
See if your vet could give him a light sedative to move him. We had to do that with one of our horses one time. It was great and didn't hurt him at all. No Lester, you don't knock them out, just a light dose. How will you keep Tex from breeding his daughters?

ostriches can hatch eggs in the desert and there are huge temp swings between day and night going down to -20c at night so i cant see why they wouldnt hatch over temp

Start by feeding Tex in a trailer and once he has become comfortable with the trailer, you can close it and drive him to Longhorn Lester

See if your vet could give him a light sedative to move him. We had to do that with one of our horses one time. It was great and didn't hurt him at all.

If you build your loading chute 1st then start feeding him at the end of the chute he will get used to it and will load calmer
ostriches can hatch eggs in the desert and there are huge temp swings between day and night going down to -20c at night so i cant see why they wouldnt hatch over temp

They started laying eggs a month ago gestation for ostrich 35 to 45 days so a bit of time before they might hatch
