- This video documents steps I've taken to reset the blinking airbag light that wouldn't go off.
Looks like this procedure may work on all Nissan Muranos.
Please let me know how your results using these steps.
I did what you said to do, and it worked! I was happy. Then 20 miles later, it has come back on and will not turn off...
First, how did your airbag light come on in first place, was there some repair done to the car that required airbag to be disconnected?
If not, check under the front seats, there is airbag connector wires, and if it catches something, the connector could come loose. So keep under the front seat empty.
Third, if battery was disconnected or jump charged, it could have gotten some sensors out of sync. Try to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes to drain remaining power in parts and then redo the reset.
In my case, the reset didn’t immediately turn off the light, I took a short drive after reset to run some errands, and then I noticed that light went out. So it seems, there could be delay.
Lastly, I would actually disconnect and then reconnect the airbag wire connector under the front seats. I have a detail video on this on Murano front seat removal video.
Thanks for the video. I had too had done the three resets and noticed that the only change was that the light was blinking slowly. I started the car and it was still blinking slowly. I then turned the car off and watched your video, then after that started car again and the light went off this time. So as a fellow software developer, I agree with your logic that the computer must need some time to talk to the subsystems. Looks like it may even happen with a bit of time between starts.
Yup it works eventually so definitely there is a delay in turning off the light. Glad it worked for you. And welcome fellow software developer. What a great career to be in for decades now. :-)
@@DIYLifeSkills yeah, releasing software with bugs insures you guys never work yourself out of a job.😆😆
Was able to fix mine, key thing here is, we have to turn it off before or as soon as it start blinking. if we wait for few blinks and turn off, it doesn't work. After couple of days trying, I got mine fixed by 3 times reset procedure!
Great to hear the details. Thanks
Thanks a lot
What happens if you do not reset?
The airbag light shouldn’t effect starting and driving the car but…one it’s annoying to look at it blinking endlessly, two, it may actually prevent airbag deployment, and lastly, it could fail state inspection.
As mentioned in the video, the light didn’t go off immediately after the reset, but upon multiple reset tries and then taking a short drive it did turn off permanently and didn’t come back on.
