Yesterday I watched and heared this lovely man speak. I live in the area he fought. If it wasn't for (people like) him, we'd have a completely differend life than the free life we have right now. My gratefulness is always present, everytime I walk or ride the roads he fought on. And that's every day.
I humbly salute and thank you, dear sir. You airborne troopers are princes among men. I remember my grandfather telling how a squad of your men, boys really, came into his farm to ask for directions one night. They gave him coffee and chocolate, and he gave them cheese, beer and bacon in return. He also told me how he cried when the Germans forced him to cart off their lifeless bodies the next day. That rock of a man reduced to tears because those brave boys were all shot to pieces trying to win our freedom. We can never thank you enough.
