"‘what if i took it off for you?’ is my debut single, it tells the story of my experience shooting a global campaign for a multimillion dollar makeup corporation and being offered no recompense for it. Their justification was that "it's more of an opportunity for the people of your community”.’

Lyrics
oh i look in the mirror and i see nothing at all
oh i wish it was clearer why you don’t love me at all
oh i might leave the city with my fentys and no one with me
and i know you won’t miss me
you were with me and it was empty
what if i took it off for you?
would you love me the way they never do?
i thought i should take it off for you
what a fool
i’m such a fool
i’m such a fool
oh i don’t speak much oh i don’t speak at all
guess i should have spoken cuz you still left me after all
oh i might leave the city with my fentys and no one with me
and i know you won’t miss me
you were with me and it was empty
what if i took it off for you?
would you love me the way they never do?
i thought i should take it off for you
what a fool
i’m such a fool
i’m such a fool
what a fool
i’m such a fool
i’m such a fool

Such a beautiful song, and some girls can relate
Free our Palestinian brothers and sisters
Free our Palestine 🇵🇸

I love how all girls can relate to this. All religious girls within all religions, non religious girls feeling pressured to give up their virginity, societal standards of showing more skin. Just wow. She took her own situation and made a song that’s so many girls can relate to for different reasons.
Exactly! Any girl can relate to it in her own way and that’s the beauty of the song and Nemah herself♥️
Trueee.. I am catholic and this song hits really hard❤

@@batman-sr2px it’s simple yet beautiful.
I am not Muslim, I am not a Palestinian. But I stand with you, I pray for your safety, and the safety of others. I send word to my government that we need to help the Palestinians. I stand with you, and hear you. Please, to all in Gaza, and Palestinians, please stay safe as best you can. ❤
Why is this masterpiece so short? So underrated? Best song I've heard in 2021.

just listen. it's not just about a religion. letting go some part of you, just to be with someone. it's all about "Sacrifice" 😭
Yesss
Well said 👍
It does have a religious meaning behind it though. How western society pressures women who wear the religious head covering aka the hijab pressure them to go against their own beliefs by trying to get them to take it off instead of just accepting them for who they are. The creator said that for her personally she wrote this song out of inspiration for the struggles she’s had to face when it came to her hijab🧕🏽🤍
She very obviously means taking off her hijab, but it isn’t about the hijab but rather getting rid of a part of u to please someone else. So you can definitely relate to it in a different way but don’t say it’s not about it and completely neglect the meaning of the song especially since she’s trying to express the discrimination she faces for wearing the hijab.
Never. God is forever for eternity.
Human beings just for a short time on earth
it’s a crime that this isn’t longer
Someone needs to hurry up and make a 1 hour loop 🥰✨
For me this song perfectly describes how religious girls struggle to find relationships without having to change themselves to fit social standards
Hi hello there I'm one of those girls 🥲
We’re stronger than that!! Let’s not change for the approval of others or societal expectations and let’s change for ourselves, for the better! 💪🏻✨
Yes exactly
But aren’t relationships haram in the first place?
literally.

To my muslim sisters, don’t ever compromise your faith for a mans attention or love. If he loves you, he would want you modest. Seeing other “pretty” girls getting attention can sometimes get discouraging but just think of gods reward for your patience & firmness in his religion. Alhamdulilah for islam. May Allah ease your hearts and minds ♥️ ps, beautiful song!
Amen beautiful ...thank you ...wise words ..❤😍❤😍
I agree but that’s not even what the song is about. Read the description.
@@c0smicchelsea hello there...it is actually related to being a Muslim and a hijabi woman cuz she got rejected or basically the company she wanted to shoot for or work for didnt approve of her cuz of her hijab ...
@@waadaatif no I know it’s about that I was just saying it’s not about love like the person commenting was describing ur completely correct
@@c0smicchelsea oh yessss but also this song can be interpreted in many ways actually which makes it diverse and beautiful still .😍 because she also wrote on Instagram that this song is for anyone that feels like they don't fit in or they're not accepted in a big scale or even accepted by a partner or a lover.

@@Nicole-og6df nth but facts

@@Nemahsis lmao I see what you did there
Man I’m not really that religious but this made me cry… the emotion in her voice and in her face and her movement is so intense I feel like I know her pain, even though I really don’t KNOW her pain… her talent is so beautiful. One day she will find someone who loves EVERY part or her.
tell me you're an empath without telling me you're an empath 🤍🤍love you
And that's how you know she's a good artist.
This is so meaningful! I loved that she kept talking about how she feels unworthy of love from her romantic partner, then suddenly turned her back as if she finally found the solution saying ''What if I took it off for you? would you love me the way they never do?'' thinking that maybe that scarf on my head is the obstacle, so why not taking it off? this clearly draws how the abandonment of hijabi girls (Mostly in western communities) is harsh and how Netflix and other platforms use this concept by viewing a girl with the same thoughts and weakness but as soon as she takes off her hijab she regains her power and finds the love and respect she wanted! (which indirectly affects the actions of hijabi viewers and lower their Imaan)
Then the song ends by a conclusion saying ''I thought I should. What a fool'' to respond to these thoughts and actions. I'm really impressed with how every word is representing and referring to an issue some Muslim girls really face.
Never encountered a musical production that plays on such topics.
Sending my warmest heart wishes to her angelic voice and every person worked on this masterpiece.♥

This hits hard not only to all those courageous Muslim girls an women but to all women ready to change lifestyle and point of view expecting love in return. I’m Christian and hits hard in my mind. You should be loved for who you are and not what you are. Love yourself fellas. Thank you Nemahsis 🙏🏾
Aw ❤️ thank you
Thank you
As someone who lives in a majority muslim country and have a practicing-muslim circle, I cannot relate to this struggle. But I have so much respect for y'all girls who are tested in this aspect and still manage to hold onto Islam despite the pressures.
"what if I took it off for you?". It's never worth it to sacrifice Allah for humans. You can replace people. But if you lose Allah, there's no substitute for Him. You lose everything.
Stay strong my ladies. In heaven, you can wear literally anything you want and be more beautiful than you're right now. Hold on a lil longer ❤️
Edit: Also, this song is so good 💕 I hope it's a bit longer but the short one makes it on repeat so I understand the strategy haha
This came out exactly at the right time with the EU'S court banning every physical appearance related to religions specifically headscarfs, and for every woman out there feeling unloved and pressurized in love life or in your career you are EVERYTHING THEY CAN'T BE, i know the struggle but you will be loved by only the right ppl 🌺🌺
No men is worth taking of the hijab off for! I choose Allah over everything. Men are temporary. God is eternal.
EVERY physical appearance? Wtf, this is ridiculous. Where's the religion freedom and women's rights the EU preach so much about?
Oh the free europe ?
No religion practices freedom.. why do muslim women wear the headscarf or a burka? Will someone explain that to me?
I’m not muslim but this song really reminds me of my first relationship. He was a lot older than me and also very manipulative and abusive. He persuaded me to do a lot of things that I still regret to this day. Thank you for this song 💕
ur very strong i hope ur doing better now
im so sorry darling
you don’t have to be muslim to like the song. please take away that first part
At first i thought she was talking about hijab but when i listened to the song i know its not only about that its about changing yourself for people who wouldn't love you either ways and that Made more sad :/
Anyone can relate
She addressed about the meaning behind the song in the description box
@@sitizulaikabintileman4145 yeah i also saw the video she was explaining it but that's how i personally feel about the song
This song hurts especially when you realize how much you've changed at the hands of pressure and so much more.
I love this song and I just stumbled upon it. I'm Christian and I feel pressured a lot bcause of what society says but I know who I am and I love myself and my religion and who I choose to follow. I'm 15 so accepting myself is kinda hard but I'm getting there and I know God is with me. Thanks a lot
Same here. When I first heard of this song, I knew it was about taking off hijabs for Muslim women, but I equated the lyrics to taking off clothes and how now a day's girls are always pressured into having sex before marriage. In almost every case, if a woman won't give themselves up to a man like that, they won't receive any love. I'm only 14, so I'm not really thinking about getting into a relationship now, but in the future, I hope to find a Christian guy who will love me and wait with me and never pressure me. It's a lot harder nowadays, but I'll still be optimistic. Regardless, though, I know that God has me. So, yah. I just wanted to share that with you because I feel like we can relate and let you know that you're not alone. Stay blessed.
I’m not Christian, I’m Muslim, but relate to you two so much❤️ we have so much in common. And we are stronger than societal pressures. This song encapsulates it. I’m not a hijabi so I don’t relate to the hijab part but the underlying sentiment - I refuse to give up an essential part of myself and my morals for a relationship. The moment I do, won’t I also be giving up my future happiness? Because any relationship that requires me to go beyond my fundamental boundaries is a relationship where I’m not an equal. And none of us should accept that.
Fellow ARMY hang in there! I hope you can embrace yourself teach yourself what is right and what is not. Learn to accept your fault and keep an open mind. Be respectful. You will start to see there is no need for you to seek approval from the ignorant people around. When you onow what you are doing is right and unless someone proves wrong your are correct keep the confidence and be kind . Love you 💜

Don’t EVER change yourself for other people’s approval/love. When you’re not living authentic to yourself, you will always feel unhappy regardless of having so many people love you. I'm not religious but I still connect with this song. For me it represent changing your ideals or taking off parts of you that make you 'you' just for someone who won't seem to cherish you the way you want them to.
I'm crying.. Like a baby.. 😢 I'm so glad I found you.. Besides the most literal representation of faith.. Too many times we strip away parts of ourselves to bare ourselves to the men we love.. HOW TF DID I ONLY FIND THIS NOWW? 😭
Been obsessed with this song 🥴
First, I LOVE this comment section! It's filled with amazing people 💙
Second, I really feel like writing this down:
I can relate to this beautiful song so much.. I'm a Muslim girl who lives in an European country. Almost 5 years ago I decided, fully on my own, to start wearing the hijab.
Going outside while wearing headscarf is quite a challenge every day, looking at society. When I heard the song the first thing I had to think about is one of my biggest concerns to be honest. The type of guy I fall for (talking about appearance) in general is light skintoned, blonde/brunette, has light colored eyes. You probably can guess; I'm afraid I'll never be able to meet my lifepartner or a relationship to work out, with my preferences and the pressure of social standards these days; wearing a lot skin-revealing clothes, losing virginity before marriage, and often I get the feeling a headscarf is some kind of warning. Many people keep distance from me, like I'm dangerous. But I want people to know who I am, and like me for who I am. I have often thought about how things would go if I didn't wear a headscarf or weren't a Muslim, it's a terrible feeling, especially 'cause I love myself the way I am and still stand by my decision about wearing a headscarf.
I know I'm not the only one having this kind of struggle; not fitting in the social standards, so I want everyone who reads this to know that you are perfect the way you are. Don't ever change for anyone, not wanting to be with with/around you is their loss. The right people who will love you are those who love every part of you no matter what. Stay safe and keep being yourself, I'm so proud of you all! ^♡^
every hijabi woman no matter the country lives a similar reality. this is exactly what i mean when i say i'm here to echo our voices ❤️ p.s. don't be soo hard on yourself. it will all come in soon time xx
Im cryingg the seriousness and hurt she displays on her face is magnificent
Hits so close to home
I'm an asexual Christian and this gets me everytime. Any time I want to be in a relationship I feel pressured to have sex or be sexualised when I want to not have anything to do with it at all, but if I don't then people don't want to date me. It's really tough, but I hope that everyone who reads this is inspired to keep going! You'll find someone who respects and loves you one day :)
I can understand you. But someone who really loves you, will marry you. And not force you to have sex before marriage.
Real love is about respect. Sex is only lust. Those people dont deserve you.
@@AG-wb3db Thank you so much🥰
Who are you getting into relationships with? No Christian man truly in faith would ever pressure you to have sex, not to mention sex outside marriage is not even debatable...You simply don't need to go around and date. And if you do, do it with the right people that would value and respect you.

Would you lovе me the way they nеver do?
I thought I should take it off for you
What a fool
I'm such a fool
I'm such a fool
What a fool
I'm such a fool
I'm such a fool
What a fool
I'm such a fool
I'm such a fool
What a fool
I'm such a fool
I'm such a fool
