    @heartsupport I've been having a rough time lately. My job has me super stressed and it's draining most of my mental and emotional energy and things are also weird with my family which is draining me even more. I'm actually trying to get into music right now (I'm learning vocals and writing a bunch of lyrics) but I often get frustrated and depressed about how slow of progress I'm making because of everything. I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard. Anyway, love your reactions! And thanks for making this space to share!

      From Wings:
      It's especially hard when things don't seem to be happening fast enough. That alone is cause for feeling emotionally drained. How often do you take time for yourself, to destress, perhaps meditate, take a walk or just veg out for a while? Give yourself some guilt free time for recharging your batteries.

      From NateTriesAgain: I am familiar with the cycle of work really hard, rest, but really struggle to rest because you feel you should be working, and feel the anxiety of the next day bearing down on you. There's something about this perception of..."I SHOULD BE DOING MORE" or "I SHOULD BE FURTHER ALONG THAN I AM" that is really suffocating. It's hard to feel like you're trying to make your passion happen, but anxiety is sucking the life out of you. It's hard when right now, your job is too, and you're trying to work hard to get out of that trap, but it feels like quicksand...the harder you push, the more it sucks you down. There are moments where you LOVE what you're doing because you connect with the passion, but then the anxiety tries to steal that joy of - well, you're not doing it all the time, if only you could...sometimes this idealized version of ourselves robs us of the reality we experience. And that's really hard. It's hard to feel damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm sorry you're in that place man. I relate to a lot of what you're sharing and understand the gnaw of anxiety as well. Thank you for talking about it.

    It's just hearing the reality of WHY i have an avoidance approach that just makes me uncomfy as well, just knowing i'm the only one stopping myself is sometimes hard to believe but anxiety makes me feel like it's the worst thing in the world so i stay in my little hidey hole of darkness because it's SAFE and i know that's not great

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  7 месяцев назад +1

      From ThriceTheThird: I also struggle with over thinking and anxiety. Avoidance had always been one of my worst negative coping mechanisms, but I can say from personal experience: Sharing and communicating with loved ones, and peer support, has been one of the greatest forms of therapy and relief for me personally. So I would definitely encourage you to share more, with more people, in your own time. It doesn't have to be all at once, or fast, just at your own pace. I first was forced to share my dark stories with strangers in an inpatient setting, eventually over time I have grown to a point where I share what I'm going through w/ everyone around me. People can not empathize with the things that we hide on the inside. The things must be let out, not just for other people to know, but to empty some of the tank/reserve that we have inside. You can only bottle up so much stuff, before the bottle explodes/overfills. There is something else that is safe besides you hole of darkness. Heart Support, if you need to talk, we are here. <3

      From beauty4ashes.loved: Hello Friend,
      Thanks for posting on HeartSupport.
      I have found myself using the avoidance appraoch a lot as well. Please don't worry about why you are any particular thing... You are an awsome person. You have unique qualities that make you special.
      It seems that finding someone to confide in, or even just saying things aloud, brings a whole new perspective on my feelings. I also like to hide where I can't be seen because it is much safer, but there is something about light that shows what needs to be straightened up a little bit. Maybe just a crack of light to start with so it is not overwhelming. Just know I care about what you are going through and I hope you will share again if you need to.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  6 месяцев назад

      From Micro: @pinkladygala8534 Yes, sometimes we trade comfort for safety, because that's just how we've learned to survive, and that's what we are the most familiar with. What is known feels safer, even if you know rationally that it is not serving you - or even worse, that it contributes to hurting or sabotaging you. With anxiety especially, it's hard to compose with the fear that *connection* with others creates at times. I know for me personally that social anxiety has put so many barriers into my life, and I could end up feeling absolutely paralyzed by the idea of being seen more publicly or having to interact with people I didn't know. Its this awful feeling that your world is completely collapsing, this impending doom sensation that you feel through your entire body. When you experience that, it makes sense to feel like your little hidey hole of darkness is a better option. It feels like there is much less risk to take, and you *know* what you can expect there, un like when you interact with someone.
      With smal steps and a lot of patience with yourself though, it is possible to re-learn the equation of connection = safe, and not the opposite. It takes time, it takes exploring and taking risks (or at least feeling like it), but walking through your fears - sometimes with the help of others - can also end up being absolutely liberating. You learn to reverse the tendency, to re-balance your perception and own sense of safety. While I thought I would be condemned for the rest of my life to be alone and never able to reach out, I have known some progress in this area over the last couple of years. Not trying to "sell" any kind of bullshit story where it would seem so easy to unlearn those patterns and replace them by things that serve you more... because it's no easy. But it is *asbolutely worth it*, because in the end it's about your life, your right to speak up, your right to be vulnerable, to say I'm not okay, to be seen and to occupy space without having to feel guilty or afraid because of it. Beyond the hole of darkness, there is an entire world ready to welcome you, at your very own pace. :heart:

    Ain’t no way you people are being this snobby about a Taylor Swift comparison. I don’t even like/listen to her, but it’s not that deep. No matter if you want to admit it or not she’s the female face of pop (or one of), so a comparison with Courtney being the female face of Metalcore or whatever sub-genre you want to list them as isn’t far off.

Feel free to share you journey with us, and share more if you are ever having doubts. I think you are making the right choice if you are having your condition worsened by the work you are currently involved in. @HeartSupport  5 месяцев назад

      From Micro: @josifus77 Hey friend, as our love Thrice said previously, we absolutely believe in you and in your ability to walk through this new journey that appears in front of you right now. It takes a lot of strength, humility and courage to get back to college and have for personal goal to complete a degree. Not everyone is willing to take that kind of step, and I think it's definitely a decision that is worth celebrating there, even if *initially* it may have not felt like your own decision somehow.
      It must have been difficult in itself to face how your traumas affect you and how your job has been impacted over time too. It's hard when something your can control affects your life in ways that are absolutely unwanted. It feels almost as if you are dealt with bad cards and have to reconsiderthings that are important to you. It feels unfair when you are confronted to a reality that forces you to make decision you may have wanted to avoid or push further away. Still, you have reached a point of accepting that new pathways may need to be explored, and hopefully this will turn out to be a wonderful and fulfilling opportunity for you, for your heart and your soul all together.
      Personally, I've been to college and completed a master degree, then a bachelor in another field. To be honest, this journey has been chaotic and while we would expect it to look like a straight line, I have been forced to accept that mine would look more like a rollercoaster that takes a lot of detours. Mental health got in the way more than once, and I've been a studen both at times when I was the same age as others, then when I was quite much older. It is for sure particular when you are older because other students have different interests and outlook on the world. To be fair, sometimes it feels a bit childish and boring. But truth be told: other than the awkwardness of socializing at times, people usually don't care how old you are in this kind of environment. I had a friend who was 40+, had too kids, a husband, and had to change careers because of a health issue. It was amazing to be student alongside her and navigate this process together.
      In general, there is absolutely no age limit when it comes to being a student, and there is often more diversity than we imagined at first on that matter. At some point, the awkwardness should givespace to more confidence and fulfillment. I hope you'll take great joy in your studies, also pride in the fact that you are taking this step. To be in a position of learning can open so many new doors to us and it's beautiful that you are on your way to take this step. You got this, friend!

    @heartsupport So, I do fear rejection and I do fear failure, but only in the way that they both justify how I feel about myself... I feel like a failure, so every failure feels more like a justification of that feeling than something I can shrug off as a learning experience. It feels like more firmly cementing a feeling I already have abouy myself. Rejection is the same way. Recently, I was putting the feelers out on a new job, and not having heard anything back from anyone really deeply hurts, especially when a friend is helping you apply for a job with the company he works for and it gets no where. It feels like my worth is literally non-existent, which is a justification of a feeling I already have... So, I tend to fear change. Change leads to insecurity. And life insecurity tends to justify personal insecurity, in my experience.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  8 месяцев назад +1

      From ThriceTheThird: It sounds like you are slightly relying on outside stimuli to give you the value of your own self worth. External failure is only wasted, when there is no internal growth from it. The type of growth that leads to the work required to never fail in the same way a second time. But I think that building self worth should come from your own passions, desires, and aspirations in what you would like to do to provide for yourself. Then taking the small steps towards achieving those aspirations. It is not an overnight thing, but building your self worth from the inside out, and improving where you have fell short before. Even if only by 1% from yesterday. Over time you see will see dividends. You are worth it. Your time, energy, and ability to be happy are more important then a companies opinion of your value to them. It might require you to not be afraid of some change and insecurity though. Not to the point where you are so insecure you can't meet your basic needs, but insecure enough that you can start to meet the rest of your needs. Don't know if that helps at all, but hope you feel a bit better! <3

      Never be afraid to shoot your shot. I used to have a huge fear of rejection, and I got through it just be thinking about the benefits of what I'm going for. Especially when it comes to work. Going for a different job or a different position, it can be hard, especially with this job market. But putting yourself out there, for the opportunities and experiences you want, if it doesn't work out, then don't be afraid to ask for feedback. Denials or failures can be learning opportunities to better your chances at future chances.
      It's better to go 114 and 92 than it is to go 4 and 0.

      From dr_hogarth: Rejection can be hard to take, especially when you're inclined to remember rejection over the positive. I think getting an outside perspective is helpful sometimes; just telling a friend or family member how you're feeling and getting them to tell you the way they see you. Writing those positive things down and keeping them with you to remember when you feel insecure can help to change your mindset; help you to remember the good stuff as well as the bad.
      Especially in times of change, we all need to remember what we have accomplished, even just the small victories. x

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  8 месяцев назад +1

      From Mystrose: I feel like when you have a fear of rejection and failure, you tend to only see those things in yourself and anything good that happens for you is pushed to the back of the line. For me, I actually look for it to prove that I am a failure or being rejected. The way I kinda deal with this is journaling because you can write about your failures if you have any during the day, but you can also write about the good things that happened. Your wins and accomplishments too. When you put it down on paper/or digitally and actually see proof that something good happened, it becomes more real and after awhile, you'll start to notice that you really aren't a failure. Finding a job right now has been really hard for a lot of people and I hope that you'll find one soon. You matter!

      From crazytrain116: Hi friend,
      Thank you for posting and sharing here.
      The action of failing and rejection are certainly components to justify feeling like a failure, but you definitely are not a failure, but rather seen and heard here.
      We tend to view ourselves from a jilted view at times (which I certainly have struggled with myself over the years) and that can seriously detract from any positives we can see in ourselves and with what we do.
      You are definitely NOT a failure and as you had the courage to share on here and are actively looking at a job, both of which I would say are big positives.
      Change is hard, but I would recommend take it slow and a little bit at a time, because in the end it can be a huge positive in our lives. And as far as the job piece goes, do not feel like a failure from that. I went through many a rejection over the years with jobs, but I always kept pushing and networking and eventually something did lead to a positive break and came through. Also, if there is anyone you trust that is a positive influence they may be able to shine a light on the positives and the good you do bring to the table. Feeling like a failure is a hard cycle to break, but taking it one step at a time and viewing things more objectively rather than as an all or nothing can help starting turning the tide for the better.
      Much love
