Dry sockets are miserable. My husband had two at one time. He was really miserable. The hardest part was getting him to go back to the dentist. 😁 The dentist fixed things right up. Hubby was so happy afterwards. Me too!

DC - the implants work pretty neat - they put in basically a little double headed screw thing and it screws into the jaw, and then the implant tooth has a little socket in it that it fits over the implant screw head - think of it like a wood screw that goes into your jaw, but the top side like a fine machine thread. It's the weirdest sensation as they use a little ratchet to tighten down the implant tooth - it is just pressure on your jaw as it tightens down, it's super weird feeling.
    Glad you're doing better!

The humming noise is coming from the plastic shield under your windshield wipers. My jeep did this. The fix is get some 3m number 33 electrical tape it’s about 1” wide. I used black. Run the tape across the top of the plastic shield all the way across with half the tape on the plastic and half on the bottom of the windshield. No more humming!

My sister had a dry socket years ago and I know she was in a lot of pain, so I've been very careful to avoid that after having a few teeth pulled. I keep the gauze in my mouth for 6 or more hours. I'm very careful about what I eat or drink and how I do it. You can't even spit when brushing your teeth. You have to rinse and let it gently fall out of your mouth. I'm usually extra careful for about 3 days. You do not want to lose that blood clot.

DC, I had a root canal fail, abscess and the tooth had to be pulled. Ended up having to have grafts done to build the gum back up. I have an implant back there, very solid, have not had a problem with it in 10 years. They are harder to keep clean. Stuff gets down around the base so I have to keep those floss/tooth picks around to help keep it clean between brushing. It’s a process, but we’ll worth it.

Ouch! Glad you're feelin' better DC. I've had dry sockets before & they sucked!
One time, i thought i had a dry socket because it was so painful & throbbing constantly. Went to dentist twice after the tooth was pulled. They xrayed & gave me a second script for "animal-biotics", but it didnt help. I told dentist there was a shard of tooth coming out, but he said it was fine. Over a month of constant throbbing i decided to pull the shard out myself. I grabbed needle nose plyers, got ahold of the piece of tooth & tried to pull it out. It was too big to come out so i thought i could move it to one side a pull it out at an angle. When i did that though i felt it slide back into place. It wasnt tooth at all, it was a piece of my jawbone that had been broken off the whole time! It healed right up after that.
I fired that quack & got a real dentist! Nothing bad ever since. YaY!

Midway the root canal the tooth split in half so I ended up at the dental surgeon to have it extracted. After it healed I had the implant stud embedded in my jaw bone. 10 years ago it cost me about $4K.

I have definitely been where you were/are. The only thing that made me feel better, with dry socket, was to hold water in my mouth; no air getting to the root. I did that overnight.😩 I have now had a total of 4 implants(teeth…😝) and feel great. You do have to watch the corresponding tooth(bottom or top). Because it is a man-made tooth, screwed into your bone/jaw, you could damage the natural tooth it pushes down on. Just make sure you see your dentist regularly.👍👏

I had an implant done in the exact same tooth for the same reason. I cracked it chewing on ice. It took 45 minutes to pull the tooth because as the dentist said "It is a big healthy tooth". The dentist I go to will clean out the socket and pack it with this paste made from cloves and then sew it back up. Cloves help with the pain and as a side effect, it always tastes like you've just eaten a Christmas ham! If you get toothaches again, you can grind up some cloves and wrap them in a little thin piece of gauze and keep it between you cheek and gum where the pain is like chewing tobacco! Ok, from a guy that is 74 yrs old..............put the written list of OTC meds & ointments inside the medicine cabinet on the side wall. Prescription meds go in the medicine cabinet over the bathroom sink, unless you need something at your bedside. It's ok to tell the boys your a little under the weather (now that football season has started). After awhile you can name off a number of ailments (real & imagined) that are bothering you for the moment. You get my drift?!?!
